Iloilo City circumferential road development gets P4-M fund

April 14, 2011 12:55 am

ILOILO CITY, April 13 – The 14-kilometer circumferential road network in the metropolis will soon be realized as the national government already released funds for assessment of its road right of way and affected surroundings due to implementation of the project.

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Iloilo City Engineering District Engr. Jose Al Fruto said the road development is under the priority projects of President Benigno Simeon Aquino III.

It has also been pushed by then mayor, now Lone District Rep. Jerry Treñas, but funds were only released recently.

A P4-million fund was given to the agency for the “parcillary plan” of the project, Fruto said.

He said his office will lead the assessment for the acquisition of the road right of way and the determination of project affected families.

Initially, Fruto said, the project will have two lanes including road easement amounting to around P1.6 to 1.9 billion.

The agency is set to acquire about 30 meters wide of road right of way for the project.

The plan shall be undertaken for three to five years “depending on the availability of funds” while assessment shall take at least six months, he added.

Early next year, Fruto said the agency would already implement the first of five phases of construction.

It will start with the development of 2.94-kilometer road network from the junction of Barangay Buhang to Barangay Tacas, Jaro district.

The first phase of the project is estimated to cost P294 million, he said. (PNA)

Iloilo, simply amazing...

Damo projects nga gina-plano...
Damo projects nga na-realized...
Damo promises nga nag-materialize...
Damo on-going construction sang infrastructures...
Damo awards nga na reap both in the national and international arena...
Damo stores and shops nga nag-open, iban gani international chains...
Damo recreational parks & venues nga gina-utihan na subong ang aesthetics kag architectural design...

Grabe ang improvement nga imo makit-an, both in physical lay-out and possibly in the values of society...

Sang una ang mga Ilonggo daw indi pa proud sa ila lugar,
Pero subong iya, with these positive changes, I could feel (I know you could also feel) nga amat-amat ang mga kasimanwa ta naga-appreciate sa mga changes sa palibot.

IS ILOILO UNDERGOING AN URBAN FACE-LIFT? Definitely yes!

IS ILOILO UNDERGOING AN OBVIOUS AND SPURTING URBAN FACE-LIFT? I leave the answer to you, the witnesses.

Amo lang ni ang mahambal ko...

We should not be ashamed anymore of our birthplace, that we should see and be supportive of her transformation that will make us proud of her once more. BE A PROUD AND CHEERFUL ILONGGO! GOD BLESS ILOILO!

Regarding the DOT and Tourism issue, is it possible nga daw medyo lax gawa ang city kag ang province sang una because they were heavily reliant on the presence the regional office?

I believe that tourist spots in the region became famous mostly because of the efforts of private or semi-private firms. Then the government, namely the DOT intervene simply to promote them, or the most to advertise them. But what's there to advertise when there are no tourist spots being developed?? Huhu, DOT should be more hands on, not simply be too absorbed on tv & ads promotions and make paguwapo on the news.

Dinagyang to defend crown in Aliwan Fest
BY JEZZA NEPOMOCENO

ILOILO City — Tribu Pan-ay, grand champion in this year’s Dinagyang Festival, vowed to perform its best in today’s Aliwan Festival to maintain Dinagyang’s distinction as the Queen of All Festivals in the Philippines.

The warriors and drumbeaters of the tribe from the Fort San Pedro National High School said they are determined to win the contest not only for their school but also for the Ilonggos.

Tribu Pan-ay and the Tribu Pantat of Zarraga, Iloilo, the winner in this year’s Kasadyahan of Iloilo province, will be among the contenders who will vie in Aliwan’s street dance competition.

Iloilo City — then represented by Tribu Paghidaet of the La Paz National High School — regained the spot as champion in Aliwan’s street dance competition last year.

The last time this city won the Aliwan contest was in 2004. It was then represented by Tribu Atub-Atub.

The province, on the other hand, then represented by Tribu Kasag of Banate, Iloilo, placed second in 2009 and third last year.

On April 12, the two competing tribes, accompanied by their choreographers and respective school officials, left Iloilo to practice in the event site.

The Iloilo Dinagyang Foundation Inc. (IDFI) and the city government gave Tribu Pan-ay a P1-million additional allowance.

The allowance was intended for the tribe’s food, accommodation, transportation and other production enhancement expenditures, said IDFI Chair Ramon Cua Locsin.

Tribu Pantat, on the other hand, got an additional P200,000 from the provincial government led by Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr.

Aliwan Festival, which aims to promote Philippine tourism through gathering cultural festivals in the country, is proclaimed as the country’s grandest festival.

It is held every April in Pasay City, Manila.

The “Mother of All Fiestas” is being organized by the Manila Broadcasting Company, Cultural Center of the Philippines and the cities of Manila and Pasay./PN

As I can see in the video clip and compare their performance last year, including choreography, this year is much better. Every year ata it becomes better and better naman eh. . . right? para indi makasulum-od sa audience. But it has its drawback . . . dinagyang theme is becoming popular nationwide. And dinagyang also is emerging, from originally atiatihan, it has now its own identity. . .

I can't find the right adjective to describe the performances of our tribe.
Would amazing, astounding, bewildering, breathtaking, extraordinary, impressive , marvelous, spectacular, staggering, startling, striking, stunning, stupefying, stupendous, wonderful, and wondrous be enough to describe them?

:D

ara ko sa likod sang aliwan stage gina sa may tropical hut. the loudest cheers were for the cebu and iloilo performances. from concept to choreography, these contigents had well-executed performances. ka creative sang tribu pantat sang zarraga!

sa tupad, gin sugo ang bata sang nanay nya to buy something but when the hosts annouced that tribu pantat from iloilo is performing, hambal sang bata, "mamaya na, iloilo na kasi mag peperform!" visayans really have a way performing the street dancing festivities. to us, it has become an art form. let's see if audience preferences would translate themselves to the results.

^^
Dinagyang Festival and contingents coming from Iloilo really leaved a mark and a lasting impression that people always equate that to awesome performances and something to really look forward to every Aliwan Feista! Also by the way, Mayor Jed Mabilog has changed his mind after seeing the impact of Iloilo's popularity in Manila. He was already considering not sending Dinagyang warriors for the next year's Aliwan because of the proposed "budget" for next year. We may still see Dinagyang by next year's Aliwan... ;)

...although the news is they may be changing the championship price from P100,000 of today to a grand P1,000,000 by next year.

Stay tuned.

I got high hopes for Iloilo. Its just that there are some "elements" that are "disturbing." I don't even like to talk about it as well (especially I who is almost 100% without anonymity here). I just hope that what we see now (developments) would prevail despite the colour of politics. There is still a sense of reality check that we need from time to time.

I guess the only one who is capable to talk about it would be Metro...as for me, my lips are sealed as of the moment.

Dinagyang dominates ‘Aliwan’
BY GLENDA SOLOGASTOA

MANILA – Dinagyang Festival was declared the champion in the 2011 Aliwan Fiesta held here over the weekend.

Dinagyang, Iloilo City’s premier festival, was represented by its 2011 champion, Tribu Pan-ay of Fort San Pedro National High School.

Pantat Festival of Iloilo province’s Zarraga town was declared first runner-up. It was the grand champion in this year’s Dinagyang kasadyahan contest.

The Iloilo contingents bested 16 other Philippine festivals that vied for top honors in this annual event that gathers different cultural festivals of the country.

Tribu Pan-ay won P1 million while Tribu Pantat was given P500,000.

In the Reyna ng Aliwan beauty pageant, Ilongga beauty Dominique Braun of Tribu Pantat bagged second runner-up honors.

She was also declared best in talent.

Miss Dinagyang 2011 Samantha Marie Amparo won the Best in Festival Costume Award.

Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog of Iloilo City lauded Iloilo’s delegation for their sterling Aliwan performance.

Dubbed as “The Mother of All Fiestas,” Aliwan began in 2003.

It aims to showcase the different Filipino cultures and heritage not only to the people in Metro Manila but also to the rest of the world.

The contingents, meanwhile, aim to promote their respective regions both economically and tourism-wise.

Aliwan was originally organized as a visual extravaganza for the Christmas season but it has since been held during the summer months.

Aliwan is a Tagalog word for “entertainment” or “amusement.”/PN

BTW, MBC has already changed their theme from that to "The Philippines' Festival of Champions." Which is indeed true. Local festivals send out their best to Manila for the show.

And someone has claimed that title, neither Ati-Atihan, Sinulog, Dinagyang, Panaad or even Rio's Mardi Gras can surpass, right @Hawili Hurom? Hehehehehe!!! :nocrook:

RDC oks Panay railways revival
TRAIN TO REDUCE TRAVEL TIME FROM ILOILO TO BORACAY
By FELIPE V. CELINO

ROXAS City – The Regional Development Council (RDC) has endorsed the plan reviving the Panay railways system.

RDC, the highest policy-making body in Western Visayas, passed a resolution yesterday supporting the project during its quarterly meeting here.

Present during the meeting were Tourism Secretary Alberto Lim and Agriculture Secretary Prospero Alcala.

Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog of Iloilo City had predicted RDC’s nod on the project last week.
The project will benefit everyone, he said.

The proposed revival of the railways system recently received an endorsement from the Infrastructure Committee of the RDC.

Mabilog is the chairperson of the committee.

Mabilog had said the Iloilo City government was ready to endorse the project if needed, adding that currently, there was no solid tourism attraction in Panay except Boracay Island.

If the train project is realized, travel time from Iloilo City to Aklan where Boracay belongs will be reduced from four hours down to only an hour, said Mabilog.

Under the new proposal, the railway will kick off from Brgy. Ungka, Jaro, Iloilo City and it will extend up to Caticlan in Malay, Aklan.

Caticlan is the jump-off point to Boracay.

In endorsing the project, RDC further recommended that the railway system also covers Antique and Capiz.

Gov. Victor Tanco of Capiz, chairman of the RDC, earlier said railway is always a cheaper transport system.

The project can be implemented under the public-private partnership scheme, he added.

There were previous reports that investors from China and Europe were interested to partner with the Philippine government in pursuing the project./PN

http://www.panaynewsphilippines.com/mainnews%202.htm

^^
Well this is GREAT news! :okay::applause:
Since Gov. Tanco of Capiz okeyed the plan and Mayor JPM okeyed the plan too, its just a matter of implementation soon.

Its good to note that one of the major stumbling block that PNR encountered before is the staunch stand of one of 'Roxas' City Proud Son' against this monumental project. It was a relief that he lost in last years election.

It seems Gov. Tanco is not under the power of this 'proud son.' :okay:

So I think Phase 1 will be Iloilo-Roxas-Kalibo then Phase 2 would include Antique... hopefully!:banana::banana:

^^
Agreed with all the points raised above, except those underlined sentences (not to antagonize but based on my experience).

UP or DOWN, I was, is and always will be proud of ILOILO, no matter what, no matter when. Hence, my name. I am true to my claim. :)

City to buy lot beside new city hall

THE Iloilo City Government plans to buy a 3,000-square-meter lot just beside the newly constructed city hall.

Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog said the lot owner, British firm Ker and Co., has offered the city the first priority of buying the area and has given until Friday, April 15, for the city to decide on the offer.

abilog said he is negotiating with the company until end of April to decide on the offer and has asked the cooperation of the City Council to look over the city’s capacity to borrow the amount with the bank.

The British firm has offered P35 million for the area, which earlier Mabilog said could be used as a parking space for City Government vehicles and other private vehicles whose owners are transacting business with city hall.

Mabilog said the lot could also host the new office of the city police office as the Iloilo City Police Office requested a lot for the construction of its new building.

Construction of the more than P600-million new city hall is expected to be completed by end of June this year. Transfer of all City Government offices and first day of office at the new building will be on August 25. (Lydia C. Pendon)

Railway revival planned to link Iloilo and Capiz (http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/inquirerheadlines/regions/view/20110417-331768/Railway-revival-planned-to-link-Iloilo-and-Capiz)

ROXAS CITY – Panay Island hopes to bring back a part of its historic past with the planned revival of the railway system connecting the provinces of Iloilo and Capiz.

The Regional Development Council (RDC) of Western Visayas in its first quarterly meeting here on Friday approved the P16.017-billion project that is expected to boost the island’s economy and tourism industry.

The railway system will connect the cities of Iloilo and Roxas spanning 170.36 kilometers and will include access routes to the international port in Iloilo City and airport in Cabatuan town in Iloilo.

Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog, chair of the RDC’s infrastructure development committee, said the project has been endorsed by the city governments of Roxas and Iloilo, the provinces of Capiz and Iloilo and the municipal governments of areas along the railway system.

Mabilog said the revival of the railway system would provide a much needed alternate mode of transportation that would cut short travel time between Iloilo and Capiz.

The project is the first phase in the revival of the Panay railways system. The second phase involves the railway system from Roxas City to Caticlan in Aklan, the jump-off point to Boracay Island.

Ro-Ann Bacal, regional director of the National Economic Development Authority (Neda), said the project would be implemented on a public-private-partnership (PPP) scheme.

She said Neda had forwarded the project to the PPP Center which would assist the proponents in looking for possible foreign investors.

The late Western Visayas historian Henry F. Funtecha wrote that the railway line between Iloilo and Capiz as among the developed transport systems in the Philippines during the early 20th century.

Funtecha said the origin of the railway system in Panay could be traced in 1906 when the Philippine Commission authorized the Philippine Railway Company in Manila to construct and operate a railway line in other parts of the country.

 The whole Allah Valley and Koronadal Valley all the way to Tacurong, Esperanza in Sultan Kudarat and M'lang are dominated by Ilonggos. The people in Surallah yesterday were speaking Hiligaynon and even that contingent from Esperanza in Sultan Kudarat.

Even the Dinagyang officials themselves yesterday stated that Surallah's performance was brilliant and worthy as their opponent.

In my opinion, the "Mindanao" element that I have been waiting for. While it has several aspects of Dinagyang, but the Mindanaoan influence was overflowing.

BTW, I think there are 3-4 Ilonggo choreographers yesterday at Aliwan. One is Julius for Ebun-Ebun in Candaba, and there's another one from San Agustin--this is aside from Romel and Ramil for Dinagyang and Pantat respectively. I feel threatened by the identity of choreography and musicality of Dinagyang yesterday. Smaller festivals have tried to imitate some choreo and music from the previous years. I guess CCP is right. In the future, its popularity might be a threat to Dinagyang itself.

^^
Agreed with all info supplied above. While you are seeing minuses I am seing pluses. Now, just to set things out and strike a balance between the two, since I have mentioned before, I am an incurable optimist. ;)

Regarding the last line here is my analysis:

1. The POPULARITY of Dinagyang won't be a threat to Dinagyang.

This is how I see it. All other new festivals especially those who are starting out and still carving a name or even a niche market, LOOK at Dinagyang as an inspiration, a model, a blue print WORTHY of EMULATING! With this mind set, would you look for a mediocre festival like so and so to 'copy' (a harsh word but its apt)? The answer is a BIG NO!

Dinagyang, aside from the being the second oldest festival in the country (chronologically correct, aight? since Kalibo started it all and we got the 'inspiration' from them but changed our format from streetdancing to a competitive performing level a year later which proved effective to this day)

Popularity of Dinagyang will remain as an asset. Spectators and on-lookers, based on being there myself for 2 consecutive years, sees Dinagyang or any Iloilo contingent in HIGHER GROUND, that is why performances are always highly anticipated with bated breath. You could feel that the atmosphere is different when Iloilo contingents performs. That is a mark of a TRUE winner when people themselves go all out for Iloilo, even non Ilonggos... not to brag BUT I have heard of so many comments that pertains to Iloilo representatives domination and expected winning ways and stunning performance.

Smaller festivals have tried to imitate some choreo and music from the previous years.

Now, let me expound this further through this illustration:

Iphone (the first one) changed the way we look at phone esp when they introduced a full touch screen UI (user interface for non-techy)... now after a few months or even years more brands or jumped in on the bandwagon, some are even labelled (or considered) Iphone killer this and that... but to no avail! Now, let me clue you in further, did they stop at Iphone1? Heck no, now you have Iphone 4 and heck Ipad 1 and 2 ad nauseam with each version besting the previous model. Lesson here: constant innovation and improvement to stay ahead of competition, also it wouldn't hurt that you pioneered in something that is embraced by a generation.

Now, lets apply the same thinking to our beloved Dinagyang. Dinagyang, having pioneered most if not all aspects of a festival carved out for COMPETITION from the start ( we are not just a parade or street dancing but we created a true platform of a competition-based performance in the early years which could be seen in the following elements: synchronicity, rhythm, beat, color, choreography and 5 judging areas which we upped and added a lot from the 'mother' which is a street dance cum parade)

The operative word I quoted ABOVE is PREVIOUS YEARS. Like the Iphone case if the competition follows your footsteps, then are you ahead or are you behind?

The point I am trying to deliver home is that, they can always copy the past performances down to the minutest detail, well, at first its like a sad or a hateful thing but it isn't really, what they end up doing is further glorifying Dinagyang, that even 'previous' or done with performances leaves a significant impact worth IMITATING. See the irony there? The Iphone never stopped innovating and competition always tried to equal or surpassed that but always end up copying the ideas that Iphone dished out. For our Dinagyang, its the same thing... we are constantly innovating and that I bet all the money in my bank that NEXT YEAR or anywhere else we will be seeing a shadow, element or artifact of the TRIBU PAN-AYs perfomance in 2011 Aliwan Festival copied or modified a bit. :D

That is why, you or we have observed that more and more festival looked or sounded like Dinagyang because they are picking up the pieces we left behind. Now, the presurre lies in us to continue to innovate and create or recreate new ideas or elements without destroying our Dinagyang's authenticity. These other festivals became generic by choice, as for our Dinagyang it remains the innovator. Like the Iphone case, what we need to do is just continue innovating, if the best that others can do is ape, let them be, in the long run its Dinagyang that really wins, why?

Let me quote the man standing beside me during the Aliwan Fiesta upon seeing one of the contingent performed: 'Ay parang ginaya sa Iloilo'

To which I replied asking, 'Taga-Iloilo ka ba?' Which he answered abruptly, 'Hindi. Dito lang sa Pasay.'

I just smiled. Sometimes we need to give people a little credit. Then, its true, that innovators innovate and copy cats, well, uhm copy. :D

As for our OWN Choreographers, well, they do not really innovate when it comes to choreographing other festivals, they simply modify old stuff, that is why we see undeniable 'shadows' of Dinagyang in other festivals, and they themselves being True Blue Ilonggos reserve great innovations for their respective tribes in Iloilo or for Iloilo. Sounds selfish? Well it is. :)

And this is the reason WHY, I am against the idea of not sending Dinagyang to Aliwan Fiesta. People will get to know more Dinagyang Festival, that way credit will be given where credit is due.

Fact of the matter is airfare to Iloilo is expensive (esp during Dinagyang season) than fare going to Quirino Grandstand or Aliw Theather for people based in Luzon, that is if they want to see Dinagyang LIVE performance. So sending Dinagyang to Aliwan also accomplishes another aspect of Tourism for our City & Province: PROMOTION or ADVERTISING--- why? It's like McDo Delivery... if people can't make it to Iloilo City due to economic consideration to see Tribes LIVE PERFORMANCE during Dinagyang Festival, well, we can bring the LIVE PERFORMANCE in their doorstep thru Aliwan Fiesta. ;)

And yes more and more people knows that Dinagyang is a superpower of Aliwan. It has become a benchmark so to speak... :D

***
My apologies to everyone... these replies were long since I lack the time to make its short. ;)

that's the problem with aliwan. it has size but it lacks soul that is characteristic of other provincial cultural hotspots. its success is dependent on the quality of performances of groups from other provincers/places. but the manila and luzon based imitations are such feeble versions of their provincial counterparts that the threat that we are talking here seems, at least for now, contained in a hollow vessel. what i am more concerned is that the imitation will make dinagyang generic and consequently, loses its uniquely ilonggo appeal. another one of those classic examples where our success could very well be our own downfall. the ironies of a Pyrrhic victory.

^^
Kasimanwa, read my reply above, I think I have your bolded sentences answered or concerns addressed.

But to answer some specifics: Dinagyang didn't lose its unique Ilonggo appeal, rather other festivals assimilated a unique Ilonggo appeal that is, to borrow your word, 'Dinagyangesque.'

Dinagyang simply proceeded to create the pace or tempo, others follow. Dinagyang will not become generic, other festival will. A progenitor will never become an offspring of its idea.

Well, IMHO Dinagyang is always Ilonggo and will continue to perpetuate that Ilonggo appeal no matter what, no matter where, no matter when. ;)

just an obeservation. over the years, the spear and shield of a warrior are becoming not the sole attraction of choreography but becoming just part of it. women's aspects of age-old, traditional domestic roles are getting more prominence. this characteristic is supposed to be more of the kasadyahan. it's interesting that this kasadyahan blueprint has a succesful crossover on dinagyang.

ILOILO'S DYNAMIC DUO DOMINATES AGAIN!

:dance::dance:

Dinagyang and Kasadyahan reigns supreme!

:nocrook:

^^
Who? Care to send me a PM? :D

the concern is there, although mine is not the alarmist type.;) that's why i view it more as a long term scenario. in which case your point of view actually would result in a subtle or covert ilonggo culturally based festival hegemony because of imitation. or let's just say, "ilonggo inspired" to be more politically correct! if only that imitation would translate itself as added funds for us! oh well, my moolah tendencies are at work again!

Okey, "Ilonggo inspired," I'll go with that. :D

Well, it does translate to FUNDS, just ask those Ilonggo choreographers. Hehehe I heard they are paid handsomely in 6 figures gave or take almost. The reason why they are hired by other festivals: they are simply GREAT in what they do by simply looking at Dinagyang. :D

Your reply is too long. Can't quote everything.

In any case, the challenge here is to the choreographers themselves who are making money out of these and/or probably establish a school of dance for such.

In one area, you are right. We look into Mardi Gras/Carnival de Rio, even if they are almost all SAMBA, Rio still manages to get the crowd--even if other cities in Brazil is also celebrating the same thing. In the Philippines, the dance and cultural workers have already identified Dinagyang and Sinulog as "imperialists" or "hegemonic" when it comes to street dance. In a good way it gives promotion to Ilonggo or Visayan aspect. Now, what I was thinking if we make schools of dance, just like Rio has its samba schools.

On the other hand, Dinagyang dance is endangering the local traditions or dance traditions of other localities. They may seem to "inspire" but the other festivals "should innovate more." What made me applaud/praise the Surallah contingent is that despite some aspects of Dinagyang were added, the true Mindanao elements have dominated it, plus the energy--it raised "culturality" aspect without leaving the audiences bored. It was a break from the monotony that I saw for the nth time at Aliwan last night. In other words, true culture does not need to be strictly tight to the traditions. It has to innovate so the people nowadays may understand and appreciate it. Its like Ambeth Ocampo talking history in a "chismis" manner wherein all Pinoys love to hear about, LOL!

In other words, the message is clear. Choreographers, LGUs, cultural workers and even tourist officers should think of innovation at the same time integration of the local cultures. Because if we see the same thing over and over again, I wouldn't doubt that the judges at Aliwan would be bored--and aside from that, choreographers and LGUs have to keep in mind that in order to win, they too have to showcase in a grand manner, their culturality. Because its not all the time, the audiences and choreography that matters.

^^
By 1M you mean the grand prize for Dinagyang 2012, aight?

 From what I heard. No confirmation yet since Mayor Jed changed his mind over not sending contingent to Manila next year.

Mabilog said he is negotiating with the company until end of April to decide on the offer and has asked the cooperation of the City Council to look over the city’s capacity to borrow the amount with the bank.

(Lydia C. Pendon)

As per the PMs, daw amu man na gani ang gina paboran ko pre na course of action. These developing events must be nipped in the bud before it becomes reality.

However, daw ka premature. The actuations of this fellow behind the scenes may be toxic, but it so far does not negatively affect iloilo city. If we move now and nip it, we could be accused of being very presumptuous.

Assuming that all the reported PMs are true, even including that of demonoid's then what it only proves is that there is an agressive consolidation of power behind the scenes made possible by 'unlimited rice' (tip: emphasis is more on the word UNILIMITED and substitute rice with another word). The aggressiveness does not necessarily prove that a crime is being planned.

It sucks talking in code. But I agree with ralph fiennes below.

Very nice insight here. Pero I guess, the issue need not be blown up that much kay premature guid man. Basta aware lang kita sa realities sa syudad. Maybe, amo man ina ang gusto nya - attention and publicity.

I also believe sa intelligence sang mga Ilonggos. Proliferation of goons and gold is farfetched in a well educated society. It has been rejected before -hopefully , it will still be rejected in the future.

If ever tood guid man tong gina-insinuate sa PM, ti ang ma-obra ta lang is protect those who are prone sa pag-'intu' by giving the right information. Kita diri sa SSC, should be vigilant and help with the info dessimination. However, those prone to the allure of gold do not have access to internet and do not read SSC. I hope, masaligan man ang aton officials and press para sa role nga ina.

Railway revival planned to link Iloilo and Capiz
By Nestor P. Burgos Jr.
Inquirer Visayas

Amu gid pre. Sakto ka gid da.

^^ang course of action ta lang for now siguro is:

maging mapangahas, mapagmatyag, mapanuri

and inde gid magpadala sa mga matam-is nga tinaga sg media subong about this monster/man.

:lol::lol::lol:

Amu gid. Now we have stronger reason not to believe every single thing that is published by the local newspapers. Basta aware lang kita kag indi kita ga hinangag sa paligid ta, maka preparar kita sang sakto.

Railway revival planned to link Iloilo and Capiz

Undoubtedly Mandurriao. Somewhere guro sa KAPIDECO or the old Luzurriaga-Sy area. It is very central to anything in Iloilo plus road access to airport, commercial area, residential area and strings of hotels make it viable.

Tani lang na sya ang nag daog sang grand lotto.

Ang mahambal ko lang, kung matuod kag kung madayon ang mga sepculations na ara sa mga PMs, that would be very bad...basi pa lang na mag investor flight sa syudad ta.

Kung indi madayon kag indi matuod ang mga HH sa mga PMs, that would be very good. Kay man, ano gid abi ang madula sa city ta? This fellow is only one man...or woman or kid....losing this fellow would not negatively affect our city, IMO.

Basta aware lang kita ah. Para kun ano gid man nga developments in the future indi kita makibot kag mag nganga sa hangin. Vigilance ah.:)

Korean firm eyes putting up P2-B theme park in Iloilo City

ILOILO CITY, April 18 (PNA) – More investments are coming in to this former Queen City of the South as it aspires to become the country’s Premier City by 2015.

Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog on Monday disclosed the interest of the Super Max Rider International, a Korean company, to establish a theme park with an investment worth around P2 billion at the Mandurriao district here.

Company chairman Cha Jin Kook earlier signified the company’s interest to put up a theme park with 14 major rides and bigger than the Star City in Metro Manila. They are looking at a two-hectare lot between the Megaworld and SM City as the site for the investment.

Mabilog said that the company officials have already visited the cities of Bacolod and Dumaguete but they went back to this city.

“Among the three I think they favored Iloilo City. They are now asking for a certificate of no objection which we will be glad to issue,” Mabilog said.

The target is to start either in June and July and start its operation in October.

Mabilog added that if needed then his office would ask for a favorable endorsement from the Sangguniang Panlungsod here.

“We will just require them to have an environmental compliance certificate,” he added. (PNA)

BTW, is this by phases? I mean this PhP 2B investment is for an initial phase and will there be any hint about future expansion?

(PNA)

I see. And I definitely follow your line of thinking. :okay::D

RE PNR:
So the only thing lacking here is the APPROVAL of PNOY... once there, the project will take off? Ahhh this is good indeed. I know the puppet simply follows what the puppet master told him to do. :D:lol:

RE PANAY ISLAND:
I am one with you in that FUTURE! Panay is on the RISE!

Hopefully the billions investment for a resort in NORTHERN ILOILO (http://www.activegroup.com.ph/futureplans.htm) will also commence! (I think True Blue posted this eons ago)

Set on the azure waters of the Guimaras Strait, off the shores of Iloilo Province, this idyllic 586-hectare isle is envisioned as an exclusive beach resort and marina ranked among the world's best.
