Premier real estate developer Megaworld expands its properties with commercial developments recognized as the country’s most admired lifestyle malls.
These signature developments are now all part of Megaworld Lifestyle Malls, a collective brand of commercial entities that encompasses urban living all created and developed by Megaworld Corporation. Carrying Megaworld name in the label gives the guarantee of quality and class unique only to these developments.
The Megaworld Lifestyle Malls are Venice Piazza at McKinley Hill and Forbes Town Center in Fort Bonifacio, Newport Mall in Resorts World Manila, The Clubhouse at Corinthian Hills, Paseo Center in Makati, and the three malls in Eastwood City in Quezon City namely Eastwood Cyber and Fashion Mall, Eastwood Citywalk, and Eastwood Mall.
Each of the Malls is varied in realization of the “play” component in the live-work-play concept pioneered and popularized by Megaworld.
Two of these are located in Quezon City. Eastwood City along C-5, is the 24/7 community surrounded by residential high-rise building and a cyberpark. This place is popular for adapting well to the lifestyle of its residents and resident professionals. It has 3 different malls in one bustling community namely Eastwood Cyber and Fashion Mall for techie and trendy budget finds, Eastwood Citywalk for hip shops and hot parties, and Eastwood Mall for stylish shopping and chef-driven dinning. The Clubhouse at Temple Drive in Corinthian Hills is the laid-back community center that is adjacent to a high-end village and a temple, which includes Santi’s Deli, Rustan’s and Indigo Salon, among others.
South of the Metro, Venice Piazza in McKinley Hill, Fort Bonifacio offers a world-class dining experience that’s Italian-inspired. It is a restaurant hub that will soon be a full scale mall, complete with retail shops, cinemas and its own Grand Canal and Rialto Bridge. Forbes Town Center, also in Fort Bonifacio, is the family-oriented neighborhood that’s reminiscent of suburban towns. Tucked away in a residential and business community, it’s a strip lined with unique concept stores and high-end hole in the wall restaurants. Paseo Center offers varied mix of fast foods, restaurants and service shops for suit-clad men and business women. Newport Mall in Resorts World Manila, across NAIA Terminal 3, is Manila’s destination for luxury shopping and the socialites’ party scene.
International fast food favorite McDonald’s can be found in a majority of these Megaworld Lifestyle Malls. Eastwood is, in fact, the first to have the 24/7 McDonald’s in the Country. Evidently, the Megaworld Lifestyle Malls are reinventing the entertainment and lifestyle industry in the country.
Expect more top caliber developments under Megaworld Lifestyle Malls in the near future. Among them are Lucky Chinatown Mall in Binondo which is set to open in the last quarter of 2011 and one in Iloilo which will open in 2012.
The country’s most admired lifestyle malls, Megaworld Lifestyle Malls, are evidently bringing positive economic change into the country with the property expansion of premier real estate developer Megaworld.
true blue ilonggo June 30th, 2011, 04:13 PM Mabilog assures transparency of city projects
ILOILO CITY, June 30 - Mayor Jed Patrick E. Mabilog has guaranteed transparency in every transaction of the city government in implementing its two controversial projects -- the sanitary landfill and the new City Hall construction.
"We want everyone to know what's happening in the city. I assure you that every single centavo will be accounted for," he said.
"There are no irregularities as I have nothing to hide," Mabilog also said.
The chief executive is under fire for allegedly asking for a P2-million kickback from Green Zone Corp. on their proposal to bring the city's garbage to the sanitary landfill of Passi City.
"We have already rejected their proposal because we have seen it is disadvantageous to the city government," Mabilog said.
Instead, the city government will undertake the establishment of a sanitary landfill at the Calajunan dumpsite in Mandurriao district.
The feasibility study has been completed, and has been passed and accepted by the City Council.
Mabilog said that he never asked for a P2-million kickback, contrary to what his detractors were saying, foremost of which was Ilonggo businessman Rommel Ynion.
"There was no attempt on my part to ask for a kickback. It's not my style," he said.
He is also being criticized for the supposedly overpriced construction of the new City Hall building in Plaza Libertad that costs P368-million, but is still loaning more than P200-million to finish it.
Mabilog denied he benefited from the project. He said he was being tried by publicity" from various media delving into the issue.
"Whatever is going to be spent will be spent properly. I will suitably manage the funds of the city," he vowed.
He urged his detractors not to make up stories that will be detrimental to the development of the city.
"Let's be mature and professional people," he said. (PNA) (http://www.pna.gov.ph/index.php?idn=2&sid=&nid=2&rid=356169)

The Moral Bankcruptcy of the New Ilonggo Mafia Triumvirate Becomes More Apparent

The People Must Expose and Oppose the Criminal Schemes of the New Ilonggo Mafia Triumvirate!
.by Ilonggo AdoboGwapo on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at 1:04pm.A Platoon of Armed Bodyguards/Goons in the
Entourage of the New Ilonggo Mafia Boss Must Be Investigated By Government Authorities
By: Ilonggo AdoboGwapo
“TRUTH HAS SOMETIMES MYSTERIOUS WAYS TO COME OUT”…
Now, the truth in the real anatomy of the criminal schemes of the new Ilonggo Mafia Triumvirate is fast unraveled by circumstances of their very own making. It was confirmed earlier by the Iloilo City Solid Waste Management Board, and affirmed by Iloilo City Mayor Jed Mabilog that indeed, the Mafia Boss’ (money laundering company) which goes by the name of Green Zone Corporation was trying to maneuver a multi-million garbage collection contract amounting to almost 500 Million Pesos in five years, and was clearly found out that such was a grossly and scandalously overpriced proposal, and therefore was rejected because it will unduly ‘milk’ a whooping 200 Million overprice costs to the severe disadvantage of the people and the city government.
It becomes clear to the Ilonggo people that all these allegations and malicious intrigues being hurled by the Ilonggo Mafia Triumvirate (Don Rommel Ynion-Boy Tulisan Mejorada-Danny Kuratong Fajardo) against Mabilog and Treñas, using their much-hyped accusations of corruption and overpricing against the ongoing construction of the new Iloilo City Hall, are pure hogwash and charade in order to have a leverage and bargaining advantage in their attempt to corner vast millions worth of government contracts. WONDERFUL! Such a classic example of perverted use of ‘journalism license and so called media immunity’ and this is now known as: ATTACK and CONTRACT/ DESTROY and COLLECT or the infamous practice of the dreaded acdc practice among hooligans and hoodlums using the "press badge" as their passport for extortion activities. This comes as a no surprises since the Ilonggo MAFIA BOSS, Don Rommel Ynion is banking so much and wildly using two of the most notorious ACDC and CRIMINAL ELEMENTS in Iloilo Media Circle, who are clothing themselves with their self-imagined immunity from public censure by hiding in the skirt and fold of the Iloilo Media Community, and they are: BOY TULISAN MEJORADA and DANNY KURATONG FAJARDO.
Here is now the call of not just our ADOBO Friends but most especially of the Ilonggo people: the government authorities especially the Philippine National Police, more particularly the PNP leadership in Western Visayas under Chief Supt. Querol must seriously investigate the holding and maintenance of a platoon of armed bodyguards (a lot of people view such as a brazen display of armed goons) of new Ilonggo Mafia Boss Don Rommel Ynion, not just in his MAFIA Mansion at the Puerto Real Subdivision in La paz, but in almost every place where the Mafia Boss goes.
Don Rommel Ynion’s arrogant and outright display of sheer power, wealth and influence by constantly displaying his almost a platoon-size of armed bodyguards, in civilian clothes, with various cache of high powered firearms, including an almost armory size in number of firearms in his Mafia Mansion, do not only insult the sensibilities of the Ilonggo people but as well as the established and duly constituted authorities of the state. This is very much typical of a lifestyle and social practices of world renowned CRIMINAL BOSSES and PERSONALITIES from the notorious circles of MAFIA, YAKUZA and MENDELLIN Drug Cartel.
The entourage of armed bodyguards which the new Ilonggo Mafia Lord, Don Rommel Ynion is fond of publicly displaying is an ominous sign that the rule of PABLO ESCOBAR, the world’s most notorious CRIMINAL LORD from Colombia has come into a modern day resurrection here in Iloilo City…and this is realized with pesrona of DON ROMMEL “MAFIOSO” YNION.
We will not tolerate the reign of CRIMINAL LORDS in our beloved city, whose disguise is reinforced not just by buying out of the many media practitioners in order to diffuse would be critics, buying out state and government authorities, buying out network of influence, but most especially maintain a considerable size of ‘private army’ the way the AMPATUANS did in their reign of terror in Maguindanao…
Shall we let our city become the playground of these MAFIA TRIUMVIRATE and their minions, just because these criminal elements have masterful skills of using the perverted sense of journalism license and so called media immunity, coupled by charity and dole out operations of seasonal bread and rice dole-outs in some barangays around the city?
And now they’re flaunting their fake anti-corruption campaign as a ‘moral crusade’ daw…, but the analytical and critical Ilonggos are not falling into their morally banckrupt schemes…
SOON THESE CRIMINAL ELEMENTS and MAFIA LORDS WILL BE JUDGED BY THE PEOPLE!

STARofLIFE July 1st, 2011, 12:00 AM MVP to keynote Business Summit
By: Francis Allan L. Angelo
ONE of the country’s most successful business executives will grace the first Iloilo City Business Summit July 29.
Manuel V. Pangilinan, chair of the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. and Metro Pacific Investments Corp., will keynote the business summit mounted by the Iloilo City Government through the Iloilo City Trade and Investment Promotions Board.
Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog confirmed Pangilinan’s attendance to the summit at the groundbreaking of the Injap Tower condotel project of Ilonggo businessman Edgar “Injap” Sia II Thursday in Mandurriao district.
Mabilog said Pangilinan will discuss strategies on “rejuvenating existing, old or dying businesses.”
“We hope to get insights on his plans and his strategies in his existing and future ventures. We will also try to invite him to invest in the city when we present our economic road map,” the mayor said.
Ma. Lea Victoria Lara, Iloilo Business Club (IBC) executive director, said the business summit is also a venue to entice Pangilinan to invest in Iloilo.
“More than anything else, we would like him to come in and invest significantly. We know that his telecom companies have heavy presence in the city and province already, maybe they can also consider investing in infrastructure here just like what they are doing in Luzon,” Lara said.
Lara cited the Guimaras-Iloilo jetty port project in Fort San Pedro area and the Calle Real revitalization project as possible investment opportunities for Pangilinan’s group.
“We are hopeful that his presence here during the summit will remind Mr. Pangilinan of what is Iloilo and its potentials with the entry of other investors such as Megaworld and Ayala Land (Corp.),” Lara said.
Aside from possible investment commitments, Lara said Pangilinan could share some tips on how to manage and steer businesses amidst challenges posed by present economic conditions.
Aside from heading two major telecom firms in the country, Pangilinan is also Chairman of Maynilad Water Services, Inc., Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation, Medical Doctors, Inc., Landco Pacific Corporation and Manila Metro Rail Transit System.
Other invited speakers who will grace the business summit are Jesus P. Tambunting, chair and CEO of Planters Development Bank; Dr. Cecilio K. Pedro, president and CEO of Lamoiyan Corp.; Ramon del Rosario, president and CEO of the Philippine Investment Management, Inc. “IF there is no Injap Sia, there is a need to invent him.”
This was how Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog described the significance of Mang Inasal founder Edgar Sia II to the city during the groundbreaking ceremony of the 21-storey Injap Tower in Mandurriao district Thursday.
According to Mabilog, the soaring structure is another contribution of the 34-year-old Sia that will further boost the economic confidence of Iloilo City.
“This will serve as a new landmark that signifies the rapid growth of the city,” Mabilog said.
Mabilog foresees that the structure will address concerns of investment locators, particularly in the field of business process outsourcing (BPO), that the city does not have business infrastructures with the exception of shopping malls.
“This will surely attract investors,” Mabilog added.
The 21-storey structure of Injap Land Corporation is poised to become the city’s tallest building. It will feature 202 condo units with furniture and appliances. It will have three floors open for commercial establishments while the 21st floor is a fine-dining restaurant that offers a magnificent view of the city.
Mabilog also emphasized the P25-million donation of Sia to construct the City Community College in Molo district, which will give underprivileged Ilonggos a chance to obtain a college education. It is set to be turned over to the city government by November of this year.
Mabilog said that Sia should serve as an inspiration to the younger generation of Ilonggos, especially entrepreneurs who can contribute in the socio-economic growth of the city.
While a native of Roxas City, “Injap”, as he is fondly called, started his famed chicken barbecue chain business in Iloilo City in 2003. Last October 2010, fast food giant Jollibee purchased 70% of Mang Inasal for $68 million.
Sia was recently named by the prestigious Forbes Magazine as the youngest Filipino billionaire in the list of the Philippines’ 40 richest people. Sia has a net worth of $85 million.

And with the upcoming construction of a 200MW (initially 100MW) CFPP in Concepcion, we are assured of stable and cheap power in the years to come (around 5-8 years including renewables before demand peaks again I guess)

Megaworld Lifestyle Malls
Philippine Daily Inquirer
Thursday, June 30, 2011

Panay Railways revival depends on PNoy - guv
By JOEL E.CAPUNDAN
ROXAS CITY – The final decision on whether or not to revive the Panay railways project rests on President Benigno Aquino III, said Governor Victor Tanco Sr.
He said it is now up to Aquino if he will push through or not the revival despite the recent statement of newly-appointed Transportation and Communications Secretary Mar Roxas that the move is impractical.
Roxas expressed disfavor to the project and instead pushed for the widening of the national highways that will link the provinces of Capiz and Iloilo.
Roxas said the project is not beneficial because both have the same products, thus, the railways will not be beneficial when it comes to trade.
Earlier, the Regional Development Council 6, chaired by Tanco, approved the proposal to revive the railways system, following endorsement and support of Capiz and Iloilo local officials.
Tanco said he already forwarded the proposal to Aquino for final approval and implementation.
Meanwhile, the revival of Panay railways will cost $600 million or roughly P37.8 billion and will link Iloilo City to Caticlan in Malay, Aklan, the gateway to Boracay Island.
The operations of Panay Railways stopped in 1985 at the height of the collapse of the sugar industry.*

nguwerng July 1st, 2011, 04:14 PM FLASH FLOOD
Damage in Iloilo, Capiz reach P48.86M
ILOILO City – The provinces of Iloilo and Capiz lost P48.86-million worth of agricultural crops and infrastructures in the past six months due to flash floods, the Office of Civil Defense 6 (OCD-6) reported.
Six flash floods hit the region, displacing 22,315 families from January to June, OCD’s summary of disaster occurrences in Western Visayas showed.
The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) in the region had mapped areas near bodies of water such as rivers, creeks, lakes, canals and former river channels as highly susceptible to flooding.
The February 5 flash flood heavily affected Capiz’s agriculture (P48.2 million).
In Iloilo province, specifically in Lambunao town, the damage caused by the flash flood on March 2 reached P660,000 in the agriculture industry and P526,000 in infrastructures.
“We must all brace ourselves for possible landslides and flooding with the onset of the rainy season and typhoons,” warned MGB Regional Director Leo Van Juguan.
Flooding in the region is a problem during and after prolonged rainfall, he said.
A total of 5,116 families were affected by the May 4 flash flood in EB Magalona and Victorias City in Negros Occidental.
The February 5 Capiz floods affected 2,800 families.
In Lambunao, the March 2 flood displaced 162 families.
The summary of disaster occurrences also showed five deaths as caused by the flooding – two in Negros Occidental on January 11; one in Lambunao on March 2; one in Sitio Tugas, Brgy.
Cabdiangan, Sipalay Negros Occidental on June 13; and one in Valderama, Antique on June 22.
Overall, 44,792 persons were affected and 235 houses were destroyed by the flooding in the first half of the year.
According to the OCD, two earthquakes also occurred:
* on January 28 -- 6:53 a.m., magnitude 2.7 magnitude in Tapaz and Dumalag Capiz; and
* on May 29 -- 5:15 p.m., magnitude 4 in Sibalom, Antique; magnitude 3 in Iloilo City, San Jose and Patnongon in Antique; and magnitude 2 in Hamtic, Antique.
The OCD urged Western Visayans to prepare for disasters all the time as they always strike unannounced.
“The only way to counter nature’s rage is to prepare and have a thorough knowledge of the measures that could help deter further loss of life and property,” said OCD Assistant Director Eligio Calaor.
Meanwhile, of the total 4,054 barangays in Western Visayas’ six provinces, 564 are “highly susceptible” to landslides while 550 are “moderately susceptible,” results of the geohazard assessment conducted by the MGB showed.
Areas classified as “highly susceptible” are those with active faults, those with recent landslides, presence of numerous and large tension cracks that would directly affect the community, presence of areas that are prone to landslide damming, and areas with steep slopes, according to Juguan.
Areas with inactive and old landslides, presence of smaller tension cracks and moderate slope are classified as “moderately susceptible” to landslides.
Of those assessed as highly susceptible barangays, 283 are in Iloilo; 185 in Antique; 30 in Aklan; 30 in Capiz; 28 in Negros Occidental; and eight in Guimaras.
Juguan said areas classified as highly and moderately susceptible to landslides should take precautionary measures, especially this rainy and typhoon season.
MGB Region 6 has completed its rapid geohazard assessment and mapping on a scale of 1:50,000 of the whole Western Visayas. (With a report from T. Villavert, Philippine Information Agency/PN)

This is... AMAZING!:cheers::cheers::cheers::cheers::cheers::cheers::cheers::cheers::cheers::cheers::cheers::cheers::cheers::cheers::cheers::cheers::cheers::cheers::cheers::cheers::cheers::cheers::cheers::cheers::cheers:

madvirus July 2nd, 2011, 12:17 AM ILOILO CITY, July 1 (PNA) -- Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog prefers not to deliver his first State of the City address (SOCA) to supposedly mark his one year in office.
Mabilog said his first year accomplishments were not yet visible for the Ilonggos as he believed that more good things would happen before he delivers his second SOCA next year.
“They could not yet feel and appreciate what I have done in the past year but it doesn’t mean that I have done nothing. I will make sure that if I deliver my SOCA next year, it’s something that we could all proud of”, he said.
But, the mayor however, still wants to emphasize some of his achievements like the successful Charter Day celebration in August last year, the near realization of the Iloilo City Community College, good governance, professionalism and the latest gold award and citation of the Iloilo River Development Project at the 2010 International Awards for Liveable Communities (Livcom).
On the other hand, Iloilo Gov. Arthur Defensor, Sr. will deliver his first State of the Province Address (SOPA) within this month of July.
Defensor said he is ready on his SOPA that will enumerate his accomplishments, including the latest increase of the capitol job-hire employees effective July and his campaign against all forms of illegal activities in the province. (PNA) (http://www.pna.gov.ph/index.php?idn=2&sid=&nid=2&rid=356389)
madvirus July 2nd, 2011, 12:18 AM ILOILO CITY, July 1 (PNA) - Fifty percent of the micro small and medium entrepreneurs in Western Visayas are engaging in retailing and wholesaling business, particularly in the buy and sell of goods.
Engr. Dominic Abad, regional director of Department of Trade and Industry-6 (DTI-6), said the remaining 50 percent of entrepreneurs are into manufacturing, hotel, real estate, micro finance, agricultural, fisheries, and other social services.
In line with these, Abad said they are strengthening micro small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) through government-private partnerships to outline other priority economic projects such as agri-aqua, tourism, processed food, furnishing and other in-demand products.
A seminar workshop for entrepreneurs was recently held to help them in the formulation of their action plans.
In this city, Abad said about P 50 billion of agricultural and fishery products are delivered to domestic markets like Metro Manila and other provinces in the country and some P 120 million worth of products like sugar and fiber exported based on the figure of the Bureau of Customs (BOC).
Abad also said that Western Visayas has increased its contribution to the national economy.(PNA) (http://www.pna.gov.ph/index.php?idn=2&sid=&nid=2&rid=356376)

iloiloMover July 2nd, 2011, 08:07 AM Iloilo pilots modern medical records system
from: http://www.sunstar.com.ph/iloilo/local-news/2011/07/01/iloilo-pilots-modern-medical-records-system-164417
A MODERN electronic medical records and inter-facility health system developed by Smart Communications will be launched on July 9 at the Westown Hotel.
Health Secretary Enrique Ona, together with city and provincial officials, as well as executives of Smart Communication, will grace the launching of Project Shine or the Secured Health Information Network and Exchange.
Project Shine will ensure the fast and reliable information from the barangays to the health facility. It was developed by Smart Communications in consultation with the Department of Health (DOH).
The project will cover three DOH charter hospitals, 12 provincial government-owned hospitals, 10 Iloilo City health centers and 13 rural health units.
The system can be accessed by all of its stakeholders -- patients, doctors and other health care professionals, medical resources like pharmacies and diagnostic laboratories, hospitals and health institutions like the DOH and local government units via the Web.
With Shine, health workers can also access the system via GPRS- or 3G-enabled mobile phones that can run Java applications and/or computers connected to the Internet to register patients, record consultations and services rendered or commodities provided and generally access electronic records of individual patients.
Since Shine addresses time consuming and repetitive documentation at the point of care, patients are also expected to benefit in terms of convenience, cost savings, and ultimately improved health.

steadyasweroll July 2nd, 2011, 08:59 AM Megaworld to invest P25 billion for various projects in 2011
06/21/2011 | 12:01 PM
Property developer Megaworld Corp. on Tuesday disclosed that it would be spending P25 billion for its capital expenditures for the year.
For the year's first five months, the Megaworld group, including Empire East and Suntrust brands, sold real estate projects worth P17 billion.
The real estate company also said that it has launched its first project outside Metro Manila this year - the Iloilo Business Park.
"The 55-hectare business park is located at the side of the old Iloilo airport, which the company acquired in 2007. The project features 300,000 square meters of office space and 200,000 square meters of hotel and retail space, designed to support business operations," Megaworld said.
Also lined up for the second half of the year is the Bonifacio Uptown in Bonifacio Global City. The project is a mixed-use, high-density, 16-hectare development in the North Bonifacio central business district that extends all the way to Kalayaan Avenue, and is located near the British, Japanese and American International schools.
"Megaworld will invest at least P25 billion to build Bonifacio Uptown over the next 12 years. The project offers close to 500,000 square meters of residential space, nearly 400,000 square meters of office space, and about 90,000 square meters of retail space," the company said.
Meanwhile, the construction of the One Uptown Residence, with total potential revenues of P7.5 billion, at the Bonifacio Uptown will begin in 2013. The 12-billion Uptown Place will feature four office towers on top of a retail mall.
Besides the residential, leisure, commercial and retail projects, Megaworld will also ramp up its office development efforts.
"Its next-generation BPO offices and campus buildings are expected to help generate at least 120,000 new jobs," the company said.
In April, Megaworld disclosed that it would be issuing $200-million corporate notes to refinance some of its debts and fund general corporate purposes.
The company earlier said that its net income in 2010 reached an all-time high of P5.1 billion.
For this year, Megaworld has also disclosed that it will be rolling out a home building program, targeting to construct 18,673 residential units with a total floor area of more than 830,000 square meters. -- CMA/OMG, GMA News
steadyasweroll July 2nd, 2011, 09:04 AM Megaworld takes things to the next level
Monday, 27 June 2011 02:10
Property developer Megaworld Corp. remains confident about its model of developing properties designed to be the next hub in urban centers in the Philippines.
Noted for a number of fast growing township projects, the company is entrenching itself even further in the niche with numerous projects in the pipeline.
Kingson Sian, senior vice president of Megaworld, said the company expects itself to be busy for the next 20 years developing its land bank of properties.
Andrew L. Tan, chairman and president of Megaworld, said that at a land bank of 230 hectares of "prime land" in "growth areas," the company has developable area of 2.29 million square meters, of which one million sq.m. will be developed into residential areas, and around 886,000 sq.m. for office space.
The rest will be for retail space, according to Tan.
These areas include the 55-hectare former airport in Iloilo City; a 25-hectare property in Mactan, Cebu; a 7.1-hectare land in the former NAPOLCOM property within Fort Bonifacio; and an 8.6-hectare land in North central business district in North Bonifacio, also in Fort Bonifacio --- most of which are in the fast growing business district of Bonifacio Global City area.
Sian said the company intends to spend P25 billion in capital expenditures for the year to continue the development of its existing township projects and jumpstart the construction of new ones, including the 35.4-hectare former Joint United States Military Advisory Group (JUSMAG) property.
This year’s capex is higher compared to the P17 billion allocated last year.
Sian said Megaworld expects this year’s income to hit reach P6 billion, a record high, compare to P5 billion recorded last year.
Reservation sales for its residential projects are expected to hit P44 billion, 10 percent higher than last year’s P40 billion.
Sian noted the significant growth of Megaworld’s reservations sales from just P5.5 billion in 2003.
For the first five months, Megaworld including units Empire East Land Holdings, Inc. and Suntrust Home Developers, Inc. sold real estate projects worth P17 billion.
Rental income is seen to hit P4 billion as the group’s combined retail and office space continue to grow, according to Sian.
He added retail and office spaces is expected to hit 638,502 sq.m. this year from 452,762 sq.m.
Megaworld launched in the first quarter of the year the first phase of its Iloilo Business Park in Iloilo City. The project features 300,000 sq.m. of office space and 200,000 sq.m. of hotel and retail space.
Anchoring the project is the P2.5 billion Richmonde Hotel Iloilo and Tower, set for completion by first quarter of 2013.
Richmonde Hotel Iloilo and Tower will have 90 rooms and 24,000 sq.m. business process outsourcing (BPO) office space.
By end-2010, Megaworld will develop the nearby 14,000-sq.m. Festive Walk retail center and several BPO campus buildings, with about 20,000 sq.m. of office spaces.
By July, Megaworld is set to turnover residential units in the residential development of its 5-hectare Lucky Chinatown development in Binondo, Manila. Lucky Chinatown is a 62,060.77 sq.m. of commercial complex with two residential towers, featuring a mall, and a commercial space that will try to bring up the concept of Chinatown back in the area.
The two tower residential project will have a total of 650 units, the first tower of which is eyed for turnover this July. The 30-floor Tower A will have 150 units of three- and four-bedroom units, and is already 95 percent sold.
Tower B meanwhile is a 32-floor structure offering 500 units of studio and two-bedroom units and is eyed for turnover by November. Tower B is already 95 percent sold.
The two-tower residential complex is complemented by an additional three-floor bazaar mall which can house 358 bargain shops featuring products such as fashion apparel, accessories, novety items, electronics and food items.
Megaworld is set to unveil Bonifacio Uptown in Bonifacio Global City by the second half of the year. The mixed-use, high-density, 16-hectare project in the North Bonifacio central business district extends all the way to Kalayaan avenue, and is located near the British, Japanese and American international schools.
Megaworld intends to invest at least P25 billion to build Bonifacio Uptown over the next 12 years. The project offers close to 500,000 sq.m. of residential space, nearly 400,000 sq.m. of office space, and about 90,000 sq.m. of retail space.
Megaworld will start construction in the area through One Uptown Residence, with a potential revenue of P7.5 billion.
By 2013, Megaworld will start developing in phases the P12 billion Uptown Place, which will have four office towers atop a retail mall.
The former JUSMAG property meanwhile will be developed into a mixed-used complex with 60 percent of the property dedicated for development. The remaining spaces is allocated for open space.
Megaworld said it plans to spend P22 billion for the property. -- Albert Castro

Megaworld to invest P25 billion for various projects in 2011
06/21/2011 | 12:01 PM
Megaworld takes things to the next level

CALLE REAL 1951
The parade of Paquito Bolero with other artistas (that includes Dolphy according to GGR). The motorcycle with sidecar are policemen while the trailing bikes are members of Panay Motorcycle Club (similar to todays widespread motorcycle groups). The street is now J.M. Basa, previously it was Casa Real, considered the city's version of Escolta where one can find both foreign and local "bazar". The banner hanging on top, " I was a shoplifter" is a Hollywood movie (about to be shown in the nearby Eagle theater), so don't worry, its not shaming a local caught shoplifting! Most of the building here are still existing today, this main road and its surrounding remains to be the busiest in the whole Panay island.

Ilonggos are known as some the most creative people in the country. Long before the Spanish came to the province, the region flourished as a trading post for regional merchants— evidenced today by a museum collection of native pottery, fossils, jewelry and trade pottery. Iloilo was also known for its textile products. When the Spanish arrived and began building churches, the structures displayed both the wealth of the region and the creative talent of local residents who created the structures.
Eventually the sugar industry became the primary producer of wealth in the province. Prosperity and industry created opportunities for local architects to design public and private structures. A 1939 newspaper article, Iloilo Builds and Builds, showcases several well-known residences in the area including the Lopez Boat House and the LizaresMansion. The article says “Iloilo is going on a house-beautiful boom. In fact, it has been going on for some time.” Today, many of these homes still stand along with the heavily decorated Spanish-era churches, the commercial buildings along Iloilo City’s Calle Real and repurposed city halls and other government buildings. From Earthquake Baroque to Streamline Moderne, Ilonggos embraced the architectural styles of the time while injecting a regional sensibility and flavor. These structures are a physical record of the history of the region. From a visual record of Spanish battles to a tribute to modern transportation, Iloilo architecture has remained chic through the years.
Lopez Boat House viewed from the water tower at the rear of the property. The multi-level decks surely created exciting spaces for the family's children to play.

anthraxx July 3rd, 2011, 04:08 AM why are you asking me about the cause and what happened?
as ive said sa pihak nga thread, too much democracy and freedom (thats often abused) ang isa sa mga rason why nagdamo ang kawatan kag tarantado sa pilipinas. if disiplinado lang gid tani ang tanan nga pilipino, we can be at par with the rest of our neighbor countries.
for sure, inde man ikaw mag agree sa akon opinion the same way I won't agree with yours. so go in peace.:)
i think the cause was that the sheriff ignored her request to wait for her before starting the demolition to avoid any commotion or riots, i dont justify what she did, i just understood why she lost her cool after all the request was not unreasonable it was just to prevent any injuries on all parties.
one can be firm and authoritative without being physical IMO.

Megaworld takes things to the next level
-- Albert Castro

angelkirk89 July 3rd, 2011, 06:06 AM CPU RECEIVES FUNDING FROM CHED ON LEMONGRASS PROJECT
By: Hope G. Patricio, CPU RACG Rep
Central Philippine University’s project entitled “Optimization of Lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus Stapf.) Tea Preparation and Development of Beverage Products” has received funding from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). This project aims to optimize the conditions for obtaining high amounts of antioxidants and citral in lemongrass tea prepared by decoction followed by preparation and packaging of ready-to-drink (RTD) beverage products. The project is led by Prof. Mizpah C. Villalobos from CPU Chemistry Department with Mrs. Emma T. Gico of CPU College of Hospitality Management and Engr. Bernie C. Cangrejo of CPU Packaging Engineering Department as study leaders. The 12-month project consists of three studies, namely: 1) determination of the best conditions needed to obtain the maximum antioxidants and citral in the tea prepared from lemongrass; 2) development of non-carbonated RTD beverage formulations; and 3) packaging of the beverage products and shelf-life studies. The expected output is to develop great-tasting lemongrass RTD product prototype with the health benefits of high antioxidant and citral content. The next goal of CPU in line with this project is to mass produce and commercialize the products developed.
This project is an output of the research made by Prof. Villalobos on the antioxidant activity and citral content of different tea preparations of lemongrass which won first place under the research category during Western Visayas Agriculture and Resources Research and Development Consortium’s (WESVARRDEC) 20th Regional Symposium on Research and Development Highlights held in University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos (UNO-R), Bacolod City last August 13, 2010.

angelkirk89 July 3rd, 2011, 07:35 AM patay tayo dyan, ang problema sa lahat ng medical city ay yung mga nurses nila, incompetent...mag makati med at st, luke nalang muna kayo if ever nandito kayo sa mnila or sa nakasanayang hospital nyo sa ilo-ilo
I have to agree with you on this. In their Iloilo Facility, the Asst. Chief Nurse(?) is only 23 y.o. The training supervisor is only 23-24 y.o. :ohno:
after they acquired the hospital in Iloilo, they had to review their staff, and guess what, a 23 yo nurse was the one who interviewed head nurses and supervisors of different stations. so ....
That's according to one of my friends who is working there now...Palakasan system daw kasi, "backer" is needed kaya ayan nangyari...
Pero I hope they'll change the system na para maayos ang lahat.:)

ABCI (http://www.philstar.com/Article.aspx?publicationSubCategoryId=66&articleId=702350), which is primarily engaged in the business of real estate development, oil palm plantation milling, is venturing into power generation through its two subsidiaries Palm Thermal Consolidated Holdings Corp. and Panay Consolidated Holdings Corp.
The group is putting up a 200-megawatt clean coal-fired power plant in Concepcion, Iloilo, which is expected to come on line by 2014.
The plant, which can be expanded by another 100 MW, is intended to help address the supply need of the Visayas region in the medium-term.
This project will make use of Circulating Fluidized Bed Combustion (CFBC) technology.
According to ABCI Vice President, Roel Z. Castro, the planned power plant will increase Panay Island sources of reliable and stable electricity at competitive prices.
Castro said new and existing large industrial and commercial off- takers and Distribution Utilities have expressed their interest to contract the capacity of the Concepcion Plant for the security of their power supply requirements.
“The company would also be trading some of the capacity from the Concepcion power plant to the wholesale electricity sport market (WESM), Castro said.

WAngZY July 4th, 2011, 02:24 AM Firm sets Panay power project
By: Daxim L. Lucas
Philippine Daily Inquirer
Publicly listed A Brown Co. Inc. has unveiled plans to help alleviate the electricity shortage in the Visayas through a recently launched power project on the central Visayan island of Panay.
Officials said the company was set to begin construction of a 200-megawatt coal-fired power plant in the municipality of Concepcion in Iloilo province.
ABCI vice president Roel Castro said the company was targeting commercial operation of the first 100-MW unit of the plant by 2014 while the second component would be discussed after the first phase enters commercial operation.
“This will depend on the market situation by then,” he said. “The proposed power plant will increase Panay Island sources of reliable and stable electricity at competitive prices.”
The entry of the Concepcion power plant will be in time to address the projected power shortage in the Visayas by 2013-2014 caused by demand growth, the company added. The firm also hopes that the project will displace costlier and unreliable oil-based plants and barges in Panay and the Visayas.
The project would be a base-load plant and make use of Circulating Fluidized Bed Combustion (CFBC) technology, he explained.
ABCI is the holding company of the Brown Group of Companies primarily engaged in the business of real estate development, oil palm plantation development and milling and is now starting to venture into the utilities sector particularly in power.
Last year, ABCI formed two subsidiaries, Palm Thermal Consolidated Holdings Corp. (PTCH) and Panay Consolidated Holdings Corp. (PCLH) to handle the purchase of the proposed power plant.
After ABCI’s acquisition of the power company, which will implement the proposed Concepcion coal-fired power plant, it was renamed Palm Concepcion Power Corp. (PCPC) this year as the vehicle for the company’s entry in the power-generation business.
Meanwhile, during last week’s annual stockholders’ meeting, ABCI reported a 2010 net income of P485.5 million, representing a 371-percent increase from the previous year’s P102.9 million.
The growth was brought by the increase in the total 2010 revenues to P856 million from last year’s P625 million.
WAngZY July 4th, 2011, 02:24 AM Panay power firm lowers electric rates for Iloilo City
By Nestor P. Burgos Jr.
Inquirer Visayas
ILOILO CITY – Iloilo City residents have been given a respite on high electricity rates after the Panay Electric Co. (Peco) significantly lowered its rates.
The Peco announced that it reduced its rates effective this June from P10.40 per kilowatt hour to P7.71 per kWh or a P2.69 per kWh drop.
Peco, one of the oldest private electric firms in the country, is the lone electric distributor of the city’s 180 barangay (villages) with at least 40,000 consumers.
Engineer Randy Pastolero, Peco operations manager, said the decrease in rates was due to the approval of the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) for a reduction of the capacity fees it is paying the Panay Power Corp. (PPC) which supplies part of Peco’s needs through diesel-fired power plants.
The current rate is significantly lower than Peco’s P12.58 per kWh rate in November 2010. It had also reduced its rate from P12.58 per kWh to P10.57 per kWh in February after sourcing the bulk of its power requirements from the 164-megawatt coal-fired power plant of the Panay Energy Development Corp. (PEDC), a subsidiary of the Global Business Power Corp.
Pastolero said the P7.71 per kWh rate may be temporary until the approval of the ERC of the energy contract between Peco and the PEDC. PEDC is charging a temporary rate of P2.87 per kWh.
He said they were projecting a rate of around P10 per kWh when the contract is approved.
But he said the company would still have one of the lowest power rates among electric cooperatives in the country with rates ranging from P11 to P12 per kWh after the National Power Corp. (Napocor) stopped providing subsidized power supply.
Peco had come under fire from the non-government organization Freedom from Debt Coalition (FDC) who accused the company of having one of the highest electricity rates among at least 63 countries.
But Pastolero explained that Peco’s rates were higher compared to other areas in the country because it was supplied by diesel power plants of the PPC and was no longer covered by subsidies of Napocor.
The city’s unstable power supply and high electricity rates have been blamed by business groups as among the reasons prospective investors are hesitant in putting capital in the city.
But the operation of the 164-MW coal-fired power plant starting late last year has significantly reduced power interruptions.

- This Coal Fired Power Plant really triggers the trend of our city's economy right now. Just imagine, after a few months of it's steady operations there are consistent numbers of new investments in the city.

Panay power firm lowers electric rates for Iloilo City
But the operation of the 164-MW coal-fired power plant starting late last year has significantly reduced power interruptions.

demonoid724 July 4th, 2011, 09:53 AM JCI Iloilo Ilang-ilang will host the 2011 Visayas Area Conference here in Iloilo City from Sept. 9-11.
4threich July 4th, 2011, 10:17 AM The Jalaur Economic Corridor
http://www.panaynewsphilippines.com/column3.htm
THE proposed P15 billion Jalaur Multi-Purpose Project II (JMPP II), which aims to interconnect the Jalaur, Magapa-Suage, Tigum-Aganan, and Sibalom-Baguingin river systems, will surely redefine the central Iloilo bioregion. This project involves the construction of a hydropower plant and an irrigation system traversing six municipalities which starts at the headwaters of the Jaluar River in Lambunao town in north-central Iloilo and ends in Tigbauan town in the south.
While the cost of the project appears to be prohibitive for the national government, Iloilo Rep. Arthur Defensor Jr. moved to address this challenge by filing House Bill No. 4884 which seeks to create the Jalaur Economic Corridor, thus establishing a domestic industrial zone comprised by the towns of Badiangan, Bingawan, Cabatuan, Calinog, Janiuay, Lambunao, Maasin, Mina and Pototan, and which will be managed by the Jalaur Economic Corridor Authority (JECA).
The frontline strategy for the Jalaur Economic Corridor will be the implementation of the JMPP II, the establishment of a food security hub and the promotion of eco-tourism in the economic zone. JECA will be chaired by the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) Director General while its members include the secretaries of agriculture, tourism, and trade and industry, the governor of Iloilo, the mayors of the towns in the third district and a representative from the private sector, otherwise known as the JMPP II Cluster.
It is also intended to boost agricultural productivity in Iloilo by irrigating 34,340 hectares of ricelands, address the power shortage in Panay Island through the construction of a 11.5-megawatt hydropower plant, and end the water crisis in Iloilo City by the establishment of a diversion canal that will bring water from the Jalaur and the Magapa-Suage rivers to the Metro Iloilo Water District (MIWD) reservoir in Cabatuan.
JMPP II is the sequel of the Jalaur Multi-Purpose Project which was created under Republic Act No. 2651 that was signed into law on June 18, 1960 by then President Carlos P. Garcia. It aims to fully develop and harness the resources of the Jalaur River, and make it a foundation and focal point of development. The river system has an estimated drainage area of 1,503 square kilometers and travels 123 kilometers from its source in Calinog to its mouth in Dumangas.
“The JMPP II shall be a priority project that shall be funded under the Public-Private Partnership program of the government, or such other similar programs or project financing schemes.
Immediately upon the approval of the plans for implementation and administration of the JMPP II, (JECA) shall secure the provision of funds, as may be necessary in the immediately succeeding General Appropriations Act,” says the bill.
JMPP II involves the construction of a 106-meter dam across the Jalaur River in central Panay to store water for year-round irrigation, the construction of a 46-meter after bay dam in the area, and another 46-meter dam at the Ulian River. Three catchment dams will be placed in different tributaries of the Jalaur River system, while the main canal will pass through the central Iloilo towns of Calinog, Lambunao, Janiuay and Cabatuan. It will also intersect irrigation facilities in the towns of Oton and Tigbauan in southern Iloilo.
It also involves the construction of new irrigation and drainage facilities to cover an additional 12,000 hectares on top of the existing 22,314 hectares already served by the existing irrigation system, which will also be improved and modernized. National Irrigation Authority (NIA) reports show that Jalaur River has a maximum water reserve of 340 million cubic meters which can supply NIA’s existing irrigation systems in Iloilo. The project will also have flood mitigation benefits and is expected to promote eco-tourism in selected areas where the dams and the reservoirs are located.
The proposed law also mandates the formulation of an investment priorities plan (IPP) for the Jalaur Economic Corridor, which shall provide fiscal and non-fiscal incentives for establishments and enterprises that will open in the industrial zone. There will also be income tax-based incentives as well as value-added tax and customs duties exemptions on capital equipment.
Once enacted into law, this will be a landmark legislation by and a major legacy of the young Defensor, and a manifestation of his recognition of the fact that a river system can be a friend or a foe; because if we neglect the river system, then it can become a monster claiming lives and properties when it takes its revenge. But if we tap its full potential by protecting it and planning for its sustainability, then it can provide water for our farms, homes and industries, give us livelihood and employment and save our very lives.

All Batchoys are not created Equal
There’s no better place to get lost in, than in Iloilo City. Just arch your back and point your nose at the sky and get a swiff of the sweet and salty aroma that is La Paz Batchoy. The aroma will play tricks with your senses and a taste of the soup will make you forget you were lost in the first place. Better if you accidentally do it in La Paz District because this is where batchoy originated and hence avaiable at every corner.
Batchoy is a noodle soup made with pork innards, chicharon (crushed pork cracklings), guinamos (shrimp paste), vegetables, meat stock, bone marrow, garlic, pork meat, and meke noodles. It is best eaten with pan de sal (salted bread) or puto manapla (rice cake). Although readily available in Manila (both Ted’s and Deco’s have branches all over the Philippines) as well as supermarkets (ready to cook instant noodles), make your first taste be in Iloilo City. After all, all batchoys are not created equal.

Minnesota's Finest July 4th, 2011, 11:20 AM Just to make it clear, I never said or post or even mention in any of my posts that the tower itself is a fake.. What I found that is Fake is the Website..
Please don't put words in my posts, because it is irresponsible to project that you found me an intellect/otherwise, but you do not have even a decent job. Readytogo..
