Vice chairman Jon Kim of the Korean Tourism Association said they would prefer a site near a golf course where they could play, and a beach to where they could escape the harsh Korean winter from November to February. "Koreans work hard the rest of the year to prepare themselves for winter and go to countries with warm climate," explained another Korean businessman Bong H. Kim, president and chief executive officer of Hanwha Tour Mall Co. Ltd. "And the Philippines has the distinct advantage of being Korea’s nearest tropical neighbor with lots of golf courses and pristine beaches," president L.H. Kim of ANY Tours & Travel Service added, citing the huge Korean outbound market who could travel to the Philippines all year round for golf, water sports, leisure, studies, business, or retirement. "We were delighted to learn that Davao City alone had three golf courses and several beach resorts to serve our purpose. And all these are not far from the airport," Kim pointed out. He added, though, that the only problem would be the lack of direct flights from Korea to Davao City, which he described as a major requirement. Citing the golf craze in Korea, Bong said Korean families would spend more than 0,000 annually to send their children abroad just to play golf. "Unlike most Filipinos who play golf for fun, we Koreans do it to win and become number one," Bong added. Jon Kim, Bong H. Kim, and K.H. Kim were among the 21 Koreans who visited Davao City as part of the recently-concluded Philippine-Korean Travel Exchange (Philkotex) organized by the Team Korea of the Department of Tourism (DoT). Team Korea Head ******* Ebron said the DoT, through Philkotex, was able to bring in a total of 68 big-time travel agents to transact business with Philippine tourism suppliers specializing in diving, golf, and meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions. Sponsored by Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, Southeast Asian Airlines, Korean Air, and Asiana Airlines, Philkotex also had a post-conference 2-night/3-day tour for Korean delegates to one of the Philippines’ top five destinations, which included Davao City where they visited the Waterfront Insular Hotel Davao, T’boli Weaving Center, Pearl Farm Beach Resort, Philippine Research and Nature Center, Malagos Garden Resort, Eden Nature Park and Resort, The Marco Polo Davao, Casino Filipino at the Grand Regal Hotel, and Matina Times Square. Lee Je Woo, president and CEO of Shin Heung Travel Agency Co. Ltd. cited the big potential of Davao City as a tourism destination and retirement haven for Koreans. Lee said their visit was an offshoot of the highly-successful ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) hosted by Davao City last January. "News on the resounding success of the ATF lured us to see for ourselves what Davao could offer," Lee added. davaoeagle April 5th, 2006, 07:46 PM Hello! It's nice to be part of this forum. Thursday, April 06, 2006 2 new relocation sites to house 1,700 families A TOTAL of 1,700 families would soon have their own lots to construct their houses, as the City Planning and Development Office housing division is planning to develop two new relocation sites in Davao City. City Planning and Development Office Housing and Homesite Division head Cesar Dataya said the relocation sites would be in Tibungco and Los Amigos, Tugbok. Dataya said the Tibungco site is about to be bid next month to qualified constructors while the site in Tugbok is still surveyed and its development plan is being developed. "We have a listing and we have already prioritized in the list who will be transferred as soon as the relocation sites are ready," Dataya said Wednesday. Among the beneficiaries of the lots, he said, are residents living along Sasa creek, Davao River, below bridges such as those under Bolton and Generoso bridges. "They are the intended beneficiaries because they are in danger areas. They are not demolished yet but demolition is apparent already in these areas," Dataya said. The beneficiaries, he said, would pay for the lots within 25 years. Dataya said they talked with some of the residents and they were agreeable to being relocated. "They are okay because they have no choice anymore and it is a better start for them," he said. Dataya said the program is geared towards providing a place for Dabawenyos who have no place of their own. "This is not towards profit, we do not expect money coming towards the city. We expect reduction of informal settlers in the city," he added. Dataya admitted they have no time frame on when to finish the development projects since this involves several procedures. He said the money to fund the development of the two sites would be sourced from the city's loan from Land Bank of the Philippines worth P100 million. As of the moment, the city has several relocation sites such as in Mintal, Matina Pangi, Tibungco, and Panacan, which cater to more than 10,000 families. There is hope , there is hope. junex April 6th, 2006, 03:14 AM Good morning people of Davao...let me post some developments in my unseen birthplace: http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f19/Onibag1072001/DavaoOriental-sunrise_gray.jpg The verdant forests and blue crystal clear waters serving as backdrop to the winding roads are what greet you upon entering this quiet coastal Province set at the back end of the country. Perhaps the thought of its backdoor and corner end setting makes one wonder how life in this Province is catching up on the fast-changing trends of the urban centers. If one thinks the hours here are slow and the days are lagging behind. Think again. This is where the Philippines' days begin. For those who have not set foot on the province of Davao Oriental, this is the easternmost tip of the country and this is where the sun shines first. By rough estimate, sunrise here comes eight minutes earlier than sunrise in Manila, or three minutes earlier than sunrise in Davao City. At the turn of the millennium, the entire country threw its attention to Davao Oriental where the first ray of the Millennium Sunrise was experienced. Today, Davao Oriental is proud of its stature as the country's sunrise capital. Hence, it is where the Philippines' days begin. Aside from that, Davao Oriental also takes pride of being the country's coconut capital, producing the largest yield of the country's coconut production per annum, according to the Philippine Coconut Authority. Let us then take a virtual trip to the province of Davao Oriental and show you the bountiful sights, experiences and potentials of this province. For appetizers, the country's sweetest pomelos come from Davao Oriental. You can also say the same for santols, ponkan oranges and mangoes. For the rice-loving Filipinos, one of the country's best rice varietythe 7-Tonnercomes only from the town of Banaybanay the province's food basket. Davao Oriental's tropical climate and a year-round typhoon-free weather make way for an ideal tourism haven. The province boast of unspoiled white sand beaches perfect for sports tourism such as surfing, diving, skim-boarding and snorkeling. What's best is that they are located a few minutes drive away from the capital town of Mati. There are also the amazing tiny islands you can reach in minutes and take a walk around in hours in Waniban and Oak Island. But among the chief attractions the Province is known for are the mesmerizing bonsai forest atop the pristine Mt. Hamiguitan in San Isidro; the historic Cape San Agustin in Gov. Generoso; the century-old San Salvador del Mundo Church in Caraga; the hot springs of Pangyan in Lupon; the Sleeping Dinosaur Island in Mati; and the captivating Aliwagwag Falls in Cateel. Lately, townsfolk in Mati curiously found uncanny small creatures wandering about in the lush forests of Barangay Bobon. They turn out to be tarsiers, the world's smallest monkey. Thus, fear not of the tarsier's extinction, their kind is secured in the province. In 2003, three of the province's towns turned a century old. The province's capital town of Mati and the Disitrict 1 towns of Baganga and Cateel celebrated their centennal anniversaries all in colorful fashion. Amidst all the bounties and destinations of interest in Davao Oriental, the Province looks forward to modestly emerge as an alternate destination in the South. http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f19/Onibag1072001/thenewcapitolbldg.gif New Capitol building to rise as province's landmark MATI, Davao Oriental (Philippines)-The spanking 3-storey state-of-the-art Provincial Capitol building will be the province's foremost landmark when it is completed next year. A baby of Governor Ma. Elena Palma Gil, the new Capitol will replace the old edifice which was built in 1967 and housed the former Sangguniang Panlalawigan, Office of the Vice Governor and provincial and national offices. The new building will house the Governor's Office and other key offices in the provincial government. "This is a product of our efforts to improve government services and to provide a better working atmosphere for our employees," Governor Palma Gil said. The new building is funded by provincial funds and financial assistance from President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, Vice President Noli de Castro, Speaker Jose de Venecia, Sen. Ramon Magsaysay, Jr., Sen. Robert Barbers, Sen. Aquilino Pimentel, Congw. Belma Cabilao, Cong. Apolinario Lozada, and Cong. Miguel Zubiri. shadow_can2003 April 6th, 2006, 03:29 AM Davao City eyed as site of plush Korean village Big Korean travel agents and tourism investors are eyeing Davao City as the site of a high-end Korean residential vacation complex complete with school and hospital facilities. "News on the resounding success of the ATF lured us to see for ourselves what Davao could offer," Lee added. http://www.mb.com.ph/TOUR2006040660741.html shadow_can2003 April 6th, 2006, 03:36 AM Sana magkaroon narin ng direct flights patungong davao from Korea. In January to September 2004, domestic arrivals posted 1.94 million but went up 2.02 million during same period in 2005. International arrivals, however, decreased by .97 percent with 136,168 million in 2004 down to 131,877 million in 2005. Tourism Secretary Joseph Durano said that because of the growth of visitor arrivals in Mindanao for the last two years, the Department of Tourism (DOT) has decided to include Davao City in the first Tourism Jobs Fair (TJF) that also covers Manila and Cebu cities this month. He said DOT wants to create employment opportunities from tourism related establishments to boost further the tourism industry. “We want to give the new graduates the chance to work with tourism establishments to improve further the industry,” Durano told reporters Wednesday. Durano was here to open the three-day TJF at the NCCC Mall. For her part, Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) XI regional director Gloria Tango said applicants in the Davao TJF come from all over Mindanao, although bulk is from Davao. Tango said previous jobs fairs facilitated by DOLE resulted in a 10 percent average absorption rate. She is confident the Davao-TJF will be successful with the considerable volume of applicants that trooped to the NCCC Mall convention center at the opening of the fair Wednesday. The event will run until April 6. Tango also said a number of applicants were hired on the spot in previous jobs fairs. sugbuanon April 6th, 2006, 06:08 AM More than 70 Davao companies offer 5,000 jobs DAVAO CITY - Over 70 companies joined the Tourism Jobs Fair (TJF) in Davao City with about 5,000 plus jobs readily available to jobseekers. Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Davao regional director Maria Gloria Tango in an interview Tuesday during the opening of the first Tourism Jobs Fair said the summer jobs fair is not only for domestic but also for international jobs placement. “Unlike in Cebu and Manila, almost a dozen companies with placement for international employment are part of the three-day TJF,” she said. “Even this early I could say that the TJF is a success with the number of applicants lining up at during opening of the fair especially that it runs for more than a day,” she said. She said that based on their experience, the opening day has lesser number of people and sometimes people upon verifying the qualification required of the job would not pursue their desire to apply. Although she said that the bulk of the applicants in the TJF are those within the Davao region, there are applicants also coming from as far as Zamboanga, Cotabato, General Santos, Bukidnon and other parts of the Caraga region. She however said that DOLE’s organized jobs fair has only ten percent absorption rate which she attributed to the mismatch between the job and that of the applicant’s qualification. In some cases, she said some of the vacancies are not filled up. She also said that the ratio of vacancies is one to 20 applicants or even up to 100. Tango meanwhile said that for the last three years unemployment rate in the region remains a single digit. In 2005, she said the region’s unemployment rate was at six percent compared that of Caraga region which was at 4.5 percent. She however said that despite the single digit rate maintained by the different regions in Mindanao, the island is still the highest in unemployment rate compared to Visayas and Luzon. She said the January 2006 national figure of rate of unemployment is pegged at seven percent. scandinavian girl April 6th, 2006, 07:09 AM welcome scandinavian girl! The half-hour weekly show entitled Durian Jam will be shown on Alchemy of Vision and Light's evening blocktime on Skycable channel 28. The music show slated to be shown on the third week of April will feature live performances, music videos, features and other segments that will focus on the ins and happenings in Davao. "We put up this show to showcase Davao original music and the local musical artists behind them," says Paolo Claudio of Spikey Fruits Concepts. Claudio, a lawyer who recently hurdled the tough New York state bar exams, is an avid supporter of Davao music being the proprietor of CL audio recording studios which is currently producing an album of different Davaoeño alternative rock bands that features their original compositions. Paolo is also the guitarist/vocalist of the indie rock group Lizard Chips whose music video of their single "Man on the road" is currently on rotation in MTV. The young lawyer is also involved in SONG Inc. a local non-government organization founded by a group of Davaoeño songwriters and supporters geared in advocating original Davao music. Together with Paolo is his Lizard Chips bandmate, agricultural entrepreneur Wardy Puyod, the duo conceptualized a program that will cater to original Davao music, with one of their high school classmates writer/publicist Rudolph Alama, they formed the group Spikey Fruits Concepts which would be involved in producing Durian Jam. The trio will be backed by Alchemy of Vision and Lights under Dax Cañedo, who also envisioned a cable television show geared towards showcasing Davao music and their artists. "Simple lang tong show namin. We really want to expose talented Davaoenos through the Durian Jam. Said Wardy, who is in charge of the technical aspects of the show. Paolo believes that Davao City is the home of super talented musicians many of them waiting to be discovered, a belief that pushed him into producing a compilation album which features established and upstart Davaoeño bands and their original music. "Mas maganda pag makikita rin sila, ma-exposed sa TV, our partnership with Alchemy I hope would open the windows for us." said Paolo Paolo says that their show could discover exciting new artists and their original materials. He says that the show encompasses all genres. Be it rock, pop, hip-hop, or ethnic inspired music. "We just need materials for the show, kaya we are inviting all local musical artists to be part of our show. Just contact us so that we can feature you and your original materials." Paolo added. To those Davao musicians/songwriters who want their original music to be featured in the program they can contact Spikey Fruits Concepts at their email address spikeyconcepts@yahoo.com. To those planning to submit materials like music videos or coverage of their gigs and live performances. They could submit their materials (in DVD format) to Spikey Fruits Concepts c/o Alchemy of Vision and Light Film and TV Productions 59-B Aala Bldg. Anda St., Davao City. junex April 7th, 2006, 02:42 AM 260-T tourists visit RP in first quarter DESPITE political instability in the first quarter of this year, Tourism Secretary Joseph Durano said the tourism sector posted a positive performance during the first quarter. "The month of January posted the highest arrival number as compared to the same period in the past years," he said in an interview at the opening of the Tourism Jobs Fair in Davao City. Congratulations to the graduates of 2006! Post your graduation experiences and greetings here. Durano said more than 260,000 foreign tourists visited the country during the first quarter. One of the contributors of the positive performance, he said, is the recently held Asean Tourism Forum, which was hosted by Davao City. "Many foreigners were amused of the Filipino hospitality. This could really be the reason for them to keep on coming back," he said. Durano also denied rumors that foreign arrivals were deeply affected by the political turmoil that was encountered by the country most especially in the first quarter of this year. He explained that "the number would tell us all that the tourism sector has performed very well despite all that happened in the political environment." "We have established a very aggressive strategy when it comes with our promotions," he said. He said foreign visitors as well as local tourists have become immune from the most negative news that reached them. "They still love visiting Philippines and the beautiful tourist destinations all over the country," Durano said. davaoeagle April 7th, 2006, 03:05 AM god day junex bustero April 7th, 2006, 03:14 AM wow this surely is a busy little thread. hello to all old and new peeps too good day! looks like daily there's a new person intersted in the davao thread! good to see! Coastal road was a good idea, until the national gov't. made a study and inventory and it turned out to be very expensive to relocate so many people, houses and establishments. LGU Davao decided to consider opening inner roads like connecting Toril with Calinan so that traffic from Bukidnon going to the south need not enter the Ulas rotonda, a second diversion road to open up roads from Tibungco or Ilang to Calinan district to ease the load in the-now-getting-more-congested diversion road, etc.etc.etc. So that traffic from the north going to the south need not pass by the crowded Sasa/Panacan area. HappyL.A. April 7th, 2006, 04:12 PM Good Evening Councilor ! katung propose LRT consehal approve na ba tong studies? As the pop[ulation of Davao City continue to increase, and with traffic as a major cause of concern, the DIDP (Davao Integrated Development Program) and JICA, came up with a proposal to establish a mass transport system that will consider the LRT. It is supposed to connect Digos from the south to Tagum in the north, passing thru Davao City. The blueprint is still there. And I think it will just be a matter of time when this idea which is now on paper will be a reality. Am for this. They promoted the use of non-motorized transport (pedestrian and bicycle) It was a resounding success. But not after the mayor was almost impeached by the car owning public. In the peak season for tourism, the Department of Health has warned that the waters in several beach resorts in Davao City and nearby Samal Island have been found unsafe for bathing due to high levels of bacteria. While the DOH has clarified that waters in other beach resorts passed the bacteriological standard for safe bathing, the report can only turn off potential visitors to all resorts in the affected areas. To the credit of the city government, it is facing the problem squarely instead of lambasting the DOH for spooking tourists. City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte himself made public the DOH report, just days before the Holy Week peak tourism season, in an effort to compel operators of beach resorts to clean up their surroundings. Such warnings have largely been ignored by millions of poor Filipinos. Regular DOH warnings against bathing in polluted Manila Bay have largely gone unheeded. People continue to swim even in parts of Mindanao where cholera has resurfaced and where water-borne diseases are common. In this tropical archipelago of 7,100 islands, when it’s hot, people go swimming in the nearest sea, lake or river, no matter how polluted. The water is fine, and it’s free. Millions of Filipinos may ignore fecal coliform and other water pollutants, but not paying tourists. Locals and foreigners alike who are ready to shell out thousands for a weekend on the beach expect nothing less than pristine sand and waters so clean marine life is visibly thriving. Provinces such as Palawan and certain areas in Sorsogon have embraced eco-tourism and are now reaping its benefits. Residents in these areas not only keep the environment clean but also protect marine life. The result: tourism is boosted without depriving marginal fisherfolk of sustainable livelihood. Other popular tourist destinations in the country have felt the consequences of failure to clean up the environment. Protesting is counterproductive; the best response is to face the problem and undertake a massive cleanup. The cleanliness – in air and water quality, in solid waste management – must then be sustained. It’s not only good for tourism revenues; it also does wonders for public health. bel1river April 7th, 2006, 06:32 PM pamalihug na lang traysikol sa inyong kanto. tagai lag pandesal para iyang hago. Yes, Connecticut shares the border with New York State's Putnam and Westchester counties. Putnam and Westchester are part of Metro NYC. Yes, Subway is a company HQ'd in CT. Naabtan na ba nimo ang Subway shop sa Davao (Landco)? Sayang kay it did not last long. Wala pa yatang 24 months, nag-close na sila. Mahal man gud ang sandwiches nila. My kids, who were all too familiar with American fast food, were really excited when they opened. For them, it made Davao even more "familiar" - if you know what I mean. Just like when Kenny Rogers, Pizza Hut, etc. opened at SM. Funny, since they've been back here ngayon naman they keep on looking for things (pictures, etc.) that "bring them back" to Davao. Paolo is also the guitarist/vocalist of the indie rock group Lizard Chips whose music video of their single “Man on the road” is currently on rotation in MTV. “Mas maganda pag makikita rin sila, ma-exposed sa TV, our partnership with Alchemy I hope would open the windows for us.” said Paolo Paolo says that their show could discover exciting new artists and their original materials. He says that the show encompasses all genres. Be it rock, pop, hip-hop, or ethnic inspired music. “We just need materials for the show, kaya we are inviting all local musical artists to be part of our show. KulasKusgan April 8th, 2006, 12:57 AM Saturday, April 08, 2006 Asian Spirit to boost trade between RP, Palau By Jojie Alcantara "ASIAN Spirit's first international venture to Palau is a major and positive step to strengthen trade and commerce between two countries," declared State Minister Temmy Shmull during the airline's inaugural ceremony at Palasia Hotel in Palau last week. Shmulle thanked the owners for their willingness to take risks in exploring the opportunities of connection between Palau and Philippines, as well as providing affordable means of transportation for overseas Filipino workers. It was a historic event that is expected to boost tourism and trade with the Philippines. Asian Spirit's maiden flight arrived in Palau midnight of April 2, with 96 passengers on board the new state-of-the-art British Aerospace (BAE) 1 46 Jet Aircraft. Delegates were composed of airline board members and officials, tourism officers and government officials, travel operators, and invited media representatives and business sectors from Manila and Davao. The thrice-weekly Manila-Davao-Palau route is Asian Spirit's first international venture of operations, with an hour and a half flight distance from the island of Mindanao to the small republic. Asian Spirit chair Antonio Turalba Jr. said funds would be spent on set-up costs and upgrading of the airline's facilities in Manila and Davao, which he believes is the gateway to international destinations, particularly the East Asian and Micronesian countries. Turalba also said Asian Spirit is proudly the first Filipino carrier to open its international doors to the route, significantly cutting short flying time for passengers coming from the south, and sparing them a long trip to Palau via Manila. Flight service is not only expected to boost tourism but aid in the flow of goods and commodities between the two countries. The delegates to Palau were billeted in popular hotels in Koror, and were treated to daily tour trips, which included the Jellyfish Lake, the famous Rock Islands, Dolphins Pacific tour, Palau International Coral Reef Center, and the museum trips. A cocktail party was tendered a night before the departure. Palau is part of the Micronesian chain of islands famous for its dive sites and beaches. Very popular among dive enthusiasts for its spectacular and well-preserved reef and coral attractions, it gained global prominence when the popular American TV reality show aired the "Survivor: Palau" series and brought its cast and crew for a lengthy location shoot in the islands. Palau enjoys a pleasantly warm climate all year round, with frequent rainfall and a lot of sunshine. Typhoons and earthquakes are rare as Palau is located outside the typhoon zone and all the islands (except for two) lay inside a fringe reef, protected from the open sea. Statistics from the Division of Labor revealed by the end of 2005, there were 4,577 Filipino workers in Palau, constituting 16 percent of the total population of 20,000 in the seventeenth smallest country in the world. As Filipinos make up the second largest ethnic grouping in Palau, Filipino is the third most spoken language, following Palauan and English. Next to Filipinos are the Chinese as the third largest grouping. Other foreign nationals are Bangladeshis, Indonesians, and Americans. source: sunstar davao (http://www.sunstar.com.ph/static/dav/2006/04/08/bus/asian.spirit.to.boost.trade.between.rp.palau.html) Saturday, April 08, 2006 Palau officials on trade mission here AN 80-member delegation from the Republic of Palau headed by Madamme Debbie Remengesau, the First Lady of the Republic of Palau, arrived in Davao City Friday via the newly opened Davao-Palau flight of Asian Spirit. On board a 100-seater British Aerospace BAe-146 aircraft, the Palau delegation also includes Former Palau president Kuniwo Nakamura, Senators Surangel Whipps Sr., Alfonso Diaz of the Palau National Congress, Palau Minister for Commerce and Trade Otoichi Besebes, Palau chief of staff Billy Kuartel and other officials. Several representatives from the Palau private sector also joined the mission and led a series of business meetings and city tour starting Friday until Sunday. A day tour to Davao City's Eden Mountain Resort kicked off the three-day visit where the delegates met with Davao's key tourism players and traders. The group was also briefed on Mindanao updates at the Mindanao Economic Development Council (Medco) during a meeting attended by representatives of key National Government agencies in Davao Region, Mindanao Business Council, Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. and City Government officials. The visit also includes a tour at the Pearl Farm Island Resort in Samal Saturday, where an informal discussion on RP-Palau fisheries cooperation is expected to take place. The weekend visit of Palau officials to Davao City was slated following last week's inauguration of Asian Spirit's Davao-Palau flight. Asian Spirit is now flying to Palau three times weekly via the Manila-Davao daily flights. "This is one great opportunity for Mindanao to foster trade ties with Palau which is seen as a potential market for our agri-based products," said Usecretary Virgilio Leyretana, OIC-chair of Medco. source: sunstar davao (http://www.sunstar.com.ph/static/dav/2006/04/08/bus/palau.officials.on.trade.mission.here.html) abskess April 8th, 2006, 05:58 AM Good noon sa tanan... :) junex April 8th, 2006, 08:09 AM Good noon too abskess abskess April 8th, 2006, 08:16 AM Good noon too abskess whats the latest fuzz guys? junex April 8th, 2006, 08:22 AM whats the latest fuzz guys? Source: BOBBY TIMONERA of Mindanews abskess April 8th, 2006, 09:54 AM I just wanna express out some concerns in here; and I hope our honorable Happy LA and Konsehal can enlighten us on this matter... :) 1. What is the city's ruling on the existence of bus terminals outside the DCOTT complex? is this legal or illegal? if ever illegal, why is the favor? Is it not dangerous or even awkward to see a makeshift bus station amid a very busy intersection? While a very strict security measure is being implemented in the DCOTT, this bus stations practically have none, is this not putting the lives of the public in danger? :gunz: What is the update on the idea of putting up a north-bound and a south-bound terminals? 2. Is the unpaved road which the Metro Shuttle buses use as pick-up station city-owned or privately owned? why is it not being developed or at least paved? The road become so dusty sometimes and this being inhaled by the residents and the riding public would in some degree put their lives in jeopardy. This dust will cause pigmentation in the lungs a condition called anthracosis which may consequently lead to various forms of pulmonary disease. Whats the plan on this area? 3. Even the TFD is so lenient sometimes. Only the males are being instructed to get off the bus. What if the terrorists are female? We cant just discount this possibility. Why dont we pass a resolution that requires all bus companies operating or having a route in the city to employ 1 bus marshall in each of their buses aside from the driver and the conductor? The tight security in the DCOTT may prevent intruders with ill intent to come in but there are considerable number of passengers being pick up along the way. This is the primary role of the bus marshall to check and inspect these passengers. This will help as well in the problem of unemployment. 4. Is the drainage along Davao Medical School Drive included in the Comprehensive Drainage Program of the City? This road practically turns into a river even with not so heavy downpour and this contributes to the eventual flooding of JP Laurel Ave. :( 5. The stretch of the highwat from Tibungco to Bunawan becomes so dusty that it occassionally impedes vision of the entire highway. Whats the plan on this? aside from the fact that its fast becoming so congested. dinabaw April 8th, 2006, 10:32 AM Originally posted abskess 2. If you will notice ubay-ubay na sa mga kalsada even in interiors ang nacemento nato, e.g. Bo. Obrero, Juna Subd.. Our annual development fund can only cover so much. Ang method is three ways (1) city planning/city engineer identify roads to pave; (2) barangay request (3) other people's request. So, it is important that the particular road be identified so maapil sa budget-making process. Re terminals, we have already amended our DCOTT ordinance to allow the opening of satellite terminals. Anyway, naa ko gipasa nga Resolution sa Council three years na tingali - proposing to transfer the Ecoland bus terminal outside the main business district away didto sa Diversion road; then transform the ecoland property into a mini City Hall to move the old city library and city engineer's office; then expand the Rizal Park from San Pedro St. to Pichon St. (Magallanes St). I wonder about transportation within the city, how about car rentals; expensive? Taxi, busses, anyone have any information to give to us? abskess April 8th, 2006, 06:29 PM Good evening sa tanan! :) Re road at Jacinto Ext. is still in sorry state. aspalto man gud unya daghang dagkong truck (buses) gagamit. Walay nahitabo sa maong 3-in-1 nga sugyot! :bash: Decongest traffic, open new areas for development along Diversion road, and expand the Rizal Park But here's a good news. Last week narevive akong paningkamot sa "Open Skies" policy for Davao to allow the entry of more foreign airlines even without bilateral air agreements. Naa nay core group natukod balik. Art Boncato of Marco Polo and Davao Tourism Assn (DATA), Baby Montemayor of Villa Margarita and Southern Mindanao Tourism, Susan Palad of Kashan Tours and Secretariat of ATF/Davao Convention Bureau, Gene Bangayan of Holiday/The Venue, Councilor Reta and myself. We are being assisted by former Tourism Secretary Narz Lim. I have submitted a road map where we should head to achieve our goal. After Holy Week, we will receive executives from Viva Macau, a budget air carrier based in Macau and run by former Cathay Pacific officials. :) Sir Konsehal...thank you very much for the prompt response... What a great news na rin ang "open sky policy" and the forthcoming arrival of Viva Macau... sana tuloy tuloy na ang dagsaan ng mga international flights sa DIA...sir paano ba kami makatulong or makacontribute for the mission...saludo na talaga kami sa inyo sir...   abskess April 8th, 2006, 06:40 PM don, kanus a imong suggestion nga petsa sa meet? post nato atong mga available day & time. ako, kung daytime pwede ko april 16 & 23. on weekdays pwede ko from 5:00PM up. For me it is a very exotic place from all I see in pictures and read about it in this forum. It is sure more exciting then to go to a commercial tourist promotion office. Tourists like form my part of the world are fachinated by the unique everyday life of the Fhilippines, what I mean is what you are and what you have natrualy there. The commercial tourism that has been a part of Europe so long has made most people here feed up with the overexposure to artificial toursim. Of course there is always a group of people who will go for that but there is a big and becoming bigger group of people who will not go on those type of vacations, that is a rip off more then anything. In essens it is better to build up a tourism around all your unique qualities that is the hard work, but you can not go worng. A bio-physical survey showed hectares of sea grasses in the area. Do you know that whale sharks (butandings) are regularly sighted there? Hello to all! Nice pics of big green turtle konsehal. Tanong ko lang po, aren't whale sharks dangerous? .. i mean beasts as they are, common sense woud tell they well be dangerous. Me and my outdoors club buddies used to swim accross the davao mainland to samal (at paradise side) before and never was there any "shark attack" (thank God) incident that happened. Were we just lucky or butandings are just harmless mammals. HappyL.A. April 10th, 2006, 12:25 AM ok, final sa siguro ni. atong pilian kung asa ta diri... 1. Bluegre 2. Bastis 3. Figaro 4. Were we just lucky or butandings are just harmless mammals. Whale sharks are considered the biggest fish in the world. Whale sharks are not whales, they are called such because of their size. They are also called sharks because they belong to the shark family. They are very gentle. They have a big mouth but they eat (suck) only planktons and very small fishes. You can swim beside it. Ride on it (if they allow it). Butandings are the biggest tourist drawer in Donsol, Sorsogon. They can grow to as long as 32 meters, or even more. You'll know the difference between a whale and and a fish through their tails. Whales and dolphins (marine mammals) have a horizontal tail while fishes have vertical. Butandings are useful as they are the filters of the ocean. Rajah_Soliman April 10th, 2006, 12:41 AM A place called Balikpapan on the island of Borneo.
