That's a welcome relief! I remember when I was in Cebu with my cousin and we were conversing in Tagalog, people who heard our conversation really looked at us with disdain. Mabuti naman at medyo open minded na yung mga bata ngayon, not that I do not speak in Bisaya kay bisdak pud biya kong dako.

Floods and Bad News (May 4, 2007) (http://pulitzercenter.typepad.com/frustrated_peace/2007/05/floods_and_bad_.html)

The southern city of Davao used to be the salvaging capital of the Philippines during the 1980’s and 90’s. The coastal town’s booming economic growth lured a mix of rich and poor migrants that included everyone from farmers, Chinese businessmen, and dirty politicians to ex-Maoist and Islamic militants who became guns-for-hire. The more ruthless entrepreneurs terrorized the wealthy elite, stole cars from the middle class, shot street kids, and turned Mindanao’s largest city into an urban war zone. Clandestine paramilitaries fought members of the Communist New People’s Army in the squatter neighborhood of Agdao while street gangs brawled over turf in Bankerohan. Someone was getting rich, but many more people were dying.

By the mid-1990’s Cotabato City in the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao replaced Davao as Mindanao’s most undesirable city. I’ve spent lots of time in both places, and Davao is definitely a far cry from what it used to be, and from what Cotabato is now. While Cotabato continues to slide further into economic disarray, Davao teems with optimism. At least on the surface. The city of one million boasts several large shopping malls, well-equipped hospitals, a smoking ban in public areas, disciplined taxi drivers, an international airport terminal, and a clique of city administrators who don’t mess around when it comes to enforcing the law.

In 1991, Davaenos elected Rodrigo Duterte as their mayor. Duterte, a charismatic, rather unorthodox politician who used to be a policeman, promised to clean up the city’s tough streets. The Harley-riding, sunglass-pimping leader not only cleaned up the streets-he purged the house. Incidents of theft, kidnappings, and drug trafficking dropped significantly during his first and second terms.

By his third term, however, the rate of unsolved murders soared. Motorcycle-riding gunmen began executing thieves and dealers with alarming efficiency and impunity. Davao eventually became safe for anyone who had never stolen a wallet or smoked shabu. For anyone who had rubbed shoulders with the law, it was another story. Petty and hardcore criminals found little comfort in the dank alleys of Davao. They knew that if caught kidnapping, extorting, robbing, killing, raping and loitering, the infamous Davao Death Squad would come after them with a vengeance.

And that it did.

In 2003, I worked on a short book project about girls who belong to the city’s burgeoning street gangs. During the 10 months that I photographed them and wrote about their lives, I ran into Duterte a couple of times, once during an interview where he tacitly approved of the extrajudicial murder of street children and small-time stick-up artists. Duterte told me that if anyone dared to break the law in his town, they better get out of dodge or face his wrath. He never admitted to directly ordering the street-side executions, but rumor had it that sadness over the behavior of his drug-addicted son drove him to support shadowy vigilante groups who killed bad guys for money. A former NPA assassin told me that he received cash from Duterte’s office to rub out drug dealers, car thieves, cell phone snatchers and anyone who looked like a hoodie.

In 2002, UNICEF called Davao the most child-friendly city in the Philippines. It’s more than a little ironic because of the 120 documented summary executions that occurred between 1998 and 2003, 20 of them involved minors.

I write about this today because I’ve just returned to Davao, an alleged oasis on an island of conflict, and learned about some very tragic news. I ate dinner with Pilgrim Bliss Gayo, the former director of Tambayan Center and co-producer of my photo book about the girl gangs, who informed me that Nanay Clarita’s fourth son Fernando.was stabbed to death one month ago. He was 15 years old. Her three other sons, all of whom had rubbed shoulders with Duterte’s version of the law, had died gruesome deaths at the hands of knife-wielding assassins in 1999 and 2000. Clarita still lives in a wooden hovel inside the Bankerohan market and suffers from anxiety and extreme poverty, not too mention total despair.

Poloy, a former DDS hitman, was also killed a couple of weeks ago on a botched assassination job. I interviewed him in 2003 but he wouldn’t go on record. On the day that he agreed to write an affadavit about his experiences as a DDS member, Poloy was killed in a shootout with a local politician’s bodyguard whom-in an ironic twist of fate-he was paid to kill. A tragic turn of tables. Even assassins have to watch their back.

Finally, a journalist friend informed me that a woman with whom I had once worked closely had been physically abused by her husband for many, many years. I can’t believe some men and husbands continue to assault those whom they are supposed to love and care for. Infidelity and spousal abuse are ripe in a land where divorce is not legal nor sanctioned by the Catholic church. The week before a 10-year-old boy in Basilan asked me about my life in America and rather casually inquired about how many girlfriends I had. And you wonder where kids learn how to be assholes!

As if the world of Davao didn’t seem dark enough, a fierce thunderstorm swept across the city at 9pm. As my taxi left Matina Town Square, both the driver and I began to see the floodwaters rise in front of us. Four-wheel drives and trucks began to stall in knee-high water. Yet my driver barreled forward, dodging pedestrians wading in a nasty water-sewage combo and children pushing their father’s cars to the side of the flooded road. At one point, the wake from oncoming traffic poured into our open windows. The taxi finally died at Victoria Plaza which happened to be nearby my hotel. The ordeal wasn’t quite over. I had to wade through thigh-deep water for several blocks to get to a warm shower.

If only I had known to leave the restaurant as soon as it started raining instead of an hour after the storm began.

Once my shoes dry, I’ll be on my way to Cotabato to visit old friends and try to access the Moro Islamic Liberation Front. It was nice to be in Davao for an evening in spite of the bad news and floodwaters. It was my home for 7 months. Davao’s new airport is nicer than Cotabato’s. The local mall’s movie theater has never been bombed and you can eat pasta on a rooftop Italian restaurant.

Yet Davao’s streets are tougher, darker, and until tomorrow morning, a lot muddier than they were three years ago.

Yet Davao’s streets are tougher, darker, and until tomorrow morning, a lot muddier than they were three years ago.

the general populace of davao is not complaining Mr. Mike Banos.....

Good on ya! Yung Hanjin ba yung pinatigil dahil sa corruption? Im not familiar with the project but I hope na masettle na nga ang issue na yan.

Ayala nagsimula na

Yung subdivision...good! im pretty excited for this project. It would be another high end subdivision in CDO ;)

Robinson matagal na yan sa amin..

Ah yung supermarket and some shops...But we're talking about the BPO or IT Building kc....it's the first in the island. I love the walkator in Robinsons CDO though.

highrises malapit na... wag kayong mainip please....

Great! I'd love to see a highrise in the northern part of the island. Sa Davao kc, the highrises craze started more than a decade ago pa with the constructions of Pryce Tower, Landco Tower, Marco Polo Davao, Davao Doctors Medical Tower, and Grand Regal Hotel. Right now, midrise na naman sa Davao...weeeeeeee tapos na ang highrise craze samin, condo craze na naman! weeeeeee midrises but astig ang designs. :okay:

Tapos may Ayala Center Davao pa which was confirmed by both Ayala Land and Anflocor. May Samal Davao bridge. Im not sure po ha....but I think my fellow Davao forumers care less with the projects that CDO has or will have.

parang wala ata...kasi ang MM marami naman ang nag comprise eh...ang Bangkok parang 2-3 cities lng nga ata...ang Melbourne naman, maraming nagcomprise...for me ha, it depends siguro sa land area...ah, ewan...

here's the definition of a Metropolitan:
A metropolitan area is a large population center consisting of a large metropolis and its adjacent zone of influence, or of more than one closely adjoining neighboring central cities and their zone of influence. One or more large cities may serve as its hub or hubs, and the metropolitan area is normally named after either the largest or most important central city within it. A metropolitan area usually combines an agglomeration (the contiguous built-up area) with peripheral zones not themselves necessarily urban in character, but closely bound to the center by employment or commerce; these zones are also sometimes known as a commuter belt, and may extend well beyond the urban periphery depending on the definition used. It is mainly the area that is not part of the city but is connected to the city. For example, Pasadena, California would be added to Los Angeles, California's metro area. While it isn't the same city, it is connected.

Nako...wala pa to eh...but if this plan will be materialized, it will be an addition to a dozen of condo buildings being constructed in Davao. :okay:

Ah yes, let us not count our chicks until the eggs are hatched.

But I am confident that this project will push through, sooner or later. The fact that someone from Santos Land itself relayed the information, then there must be some truth to it.

scoop news from the city hall:

shangrila plaza hotel will have it's upcoming mall here in davao, according to councilor hayanghayang and councilor nahipus. the gateway mall is also planning to put up one here, it's either upcoming or soon to rise, i could not get full information, but it doesn't matter anyway, does it? according to them, there is also a plan to build 30 highrises in riverfront corporate city in the future, therefore davao city will be the newest skyscapercity in the philippines next to makati. ayala mall will also build 2 more malls. the ayala team informed vice mayor sara that they are planning to build malls somewhere in compostela valley to complement the 2 billion dollar chinese investments there. i know that compostela valley is many kilometers away from davao city but anyway, that 3 billion mining investment should be credited to davao city.

and with the plan creation of a super metro consisting of gensan, digos, davao, panabo, igacos, tagum even up to surigao city, it is safe to say that southern mindanao is the most extensive metro in the whole world. it is time to rejoice now, because with all these upcoming events we are 100 percent sure that this will come true because these councilors are very reliable and no one can stop their vision that even the investors themselves can not repute whatever they will say. wow with all these developments, davao is the most progressive city in the philippines.

the vice mayor and the councilors are instructing their secretaries to draft a press statement regarding these news to be distributed to all local newspapers. let's just wait and see but even if these projects are not yet visible, this is a clear sign that davao city is booming, surpassing even makati or ortigas.

^^ i always read press releases that reads like this: a certain so and so company is looking (or planning or whatever) into putting a mall (or anything) in this city of so and so. there are companies or group of individuals trying to boost their stock without even checking if they can really do it.

this is the kind of reports that is so easy to manipulate. the end reader sees it as already being built.

we end up drum beating for projects that sometimes never see the light of day.

Gov't urged to emulate Davao approach vs food crisis (http://www.sunstar.com.ph/static/dav/2008/05/17/news/gov.t.urged.to.emulate.davao.approach.vs.food.crisis.html)

AN ENVIRONMENTAL group has urged the National Government to emulate the laudable approach of the Davao City government in containing the food crisis through planting crops for consumption.

Interface Development Interventions Inc. (Idis) Executive Director Lia Jasmin Esquillo said the plan of Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte to fund local food production is a good food security approach.

He explained this is particularly beneficial for the poor who are not only confronted by the lack of money to buy food but also by the lack of opportunity to help themselves escape from poverty and hunger.

Duterte recently announced the release of P5 million to P10 million to fund local food production as he urged the people to "plant if you want to eat".

The fund will be coursed through different accredited cooperatives of small farmers and will be used to buy farm inputs.

Esquillo said this approach would again empower small farmers who have been deprived of the chance to improve themselves when the lands surrounding them have all been converted to banana, pineapple, and oil palm plantations, and even mining exploratory sites.

"The Davao City government is embarking on a sustainable way of arresting the food problem and this program will not only contain the problem but also empower the people, the small farmers," Esquillo said.

Esquillo, however, said that the local government must be very careful in the implementing the program by following the conventional way of farming, which requires intense amount of synthetic chemicals and other farm inputs as this will definitely defeat the concept of sustainable agriculture.

"The sustainability of the food production will still rely on the kind of farming system. We all know that if synthetic chemicals are introduced, the sustainability of agriculture is imperiled," Esquillo said.

He added that they are urging the City Government to practice organic agriculture instead of sticking to the chemical-dependent system.

"But this is already a good start and something that must be followed by the National Government," Esquillo said. (GLP)

Metro Pacific Investments acquires stake in Davao hospital

Metro Pacific Investments Corp. (MPIC) will acquire 34% of Davao Doctors Hospital, Inc. (DDH) for P498 million, as it continues to pursue the creation of the first nationwide network of hospitals.

In a disclosure to the stock exchange, the company said it signed share purchase agreements with several shareholders of DDH yesterday, who hold 34% of the hospital’s issued share capital.

Habagat to open in MTS
Sunstar Davao

IN 1987, a year after the shining moment of the Philippines in world history with its "People Power" revolt, three friends Junx Muaña, Randy Su and Dindo Sugatan, avid outdoors men and architects, all decided once again to revisit their earlier dreams.

They pooled their money, a grand total of P4,500 and decided to set up Habagat Outdoor Equipment Inc.

They built on their earlier, if somewhat limited, success with manufacturing packs of their own design in the late 70's.

In no time, the country's growing mountaineering community was won over as the initial packs were introduced in climbs of the Mountaineering Federation of the Philippines (MFPI), climbs of other mountaineering groups and in other outdoor activities.

From then on, Habagat steadily expanded their manufacturing capabilities introduced innovative products and established dealerships throughout the Visayas and Mindanao. With the opening of SM Megamall in 1997, Habagat truly became a national brand.

Hand in hand with these, Habagat continued to be involved in outdoor activities, hosting them or supporting individuals or teams that join them. These include being part of the pioneering efforts in promoting mountain biking, caving, kayaking rock and sports climbing - at one point setting up the first sports climbing wall outside Metro Manila - and, of late, multi-discipline adventure racing - the Carrera Habagat.

Guided by the values of good design, use of quality materials with careful craftsmanship and having these tested in actual conditions by mountaineers and other outdoor enthusiasts coupled with a consistent advocacy for environmental protection and the regarding of nature not only as playground but more so as life ground.

Habagat started operating in 1987 in a garage in Kamuning St., with one high-speed sewing machine. The flagship models, Venado and Margaja, both 50 Liter Internal Frame (IF) packs were launched. These were soon introduced to the Mountaineering Federation of the Philippines, Inc. (MFPI) national federation climb in Mt. Kitanglad, Bukidnon, Mindanao. Received with overwhelming enthusiasm, orders poured in and inquiries for dealerships made.

At a mid-year climb in Camiguin Island, North Mindanao, the Bumbag (Hip pack) was introduced.

Formal dealerships were established in Cagayan de Oro City, Davao City and Manila mostly through mountaineering clubs. In December 1993, SM City Cebu Habagat shop opened.

This year alone, Habagat hosted the 5th Visayas Mountain Festival together with COAT (Cebu Outdoor Adventure Team) and USCM (USC Mountaineers) in Barangay Magtangtang, Danao Municipality, Bohol last March 6 to 9, 2008.

Habagat's new shop in Davao now opens in Matina Town Square featuring the popular items for outdoor activities. Proudly Philippine-made, Habagat stays true to its slogan of "Built by Hand, Tested by Nature." (Press release)

Footprints By Tony Vn. Figueroa
Samal in my mind
Mindanao Times

AFTER barely making it to the final session days of the last Congress (but without a counterpart bill approved in the Senate), the bill proposing the conversion of the Island Garden City of Samal (IGACOS) into a special economic zone is on track again.

Filed by then congressman Antonio ‘Tonyboy’ Floirendo Jr., the bill, taken over by Rep. Anton Lagdameo (2nd District, Davao del Norte) is getting good support in the House, raising optimism the initiative will in no time at all be passed and a complement piece of legislation will similarly be pursued in the Senate.

Samal bill does not only make part of the island-city into a light-industrial area, but also proposes to install investment come-ons and offer incentives that will hasten the development of tourism. If enacted into a law, the Lagdameo bill will pave the way for the development of the zone into a ‘little Macau’.

As it is now, Samal is home to the Floirendo-owned, world-class Pearl Farm Resort and other similar establishments that have slowly been expanded as alternates for the more popular destinations found in the Luzon and Visayas regions.

With that in mind, there are already plans of building a span that will bridge Davao City to the island. Even the tantalizing prospect of developing a cruise travel industry in Davao Gulf has already caught fire in some boardrooms.

With the possible revival of the moribund Samal Casino and the Ekran Berhad Hotel in the island, things will surely be optimistic for the island-city.
But Lagdameo has also maintained his focus on growth initiatives.
Only recently, he earmarked a P20 million for projects for the first quarter alone.

The appropriation, mainly sourced from his development fund, was allotted for the improvement and rehab of PNP buildings in Tagum City (P1 million), Panabo City (P5 million), and B.E. Dujali town (P1 million).

Funds were also set aside from the construction of two classrooms at San Miguel, IGACOS (P1.750 million); an HE building at Kaputian, IGACOS (P1 million); improvement and rehab of two school buildings at Dujali town, namely at DAPECOL (P2 million), and Cabay-angan (P1 million).

The remainder of the allotment was used for the improvement of IGACOS barangay halls in Villarica, Babak, IGACOS (P300,000); San Isidro, Babak (P300,00); Tagbay, Samal (P300,000); and Kanaan, Kaputian (P300,000); improvement of the municipal health center in Carmen (P2.5 million), day-care center in Ising, Carmen (P360,000); construction of day-care center in Cawag, Samal (P1M); San Vicente, Panabo (P730,000); San Miguel, Sto. Tomas (P730,000); and Magwawa, Sto. Tomas (P730,000).

Some of these infra projects, through the help of the Department of Public Works and Highways, are already completed.

Lagdameo was categorical in saying that the projects, pursued in line with his Barangayanihan program, seek to provide basic services like education, health and infrastructures for the school children, equip day-care centers with rudimentary needs, and support policemen and barangay officials who have dedicated to serve and protect the people in the province.

i had a talk with one of the metro pacific guys and they said that upon completion of the sale of the shares of DDC, they are going to build a new multi billion building for DDC in matina. they are going to convert the existing building into a commercial space.

Existing building into a commercial space? u mean the existing building of Davao Doc dinha sa downtown? :dunno: Anyway, it's also interesting to note that MPIC (the company that would acquire a share in Davao Doctors Hospital is the same company which acquired a share in Makati Medical Center (last 2007), in which it had taken a 33-percent interest. :okay: One of the outcomes of the acquisition is the construction of its modern medical facility. Today, malapit na macomplete ang new medical building ng Makati Med. :okay:

Here's some interesting twist in coffee drinking a la Davaoeño!

Why has coffee developed into a thriving industry in Philippines
Josephine Aguilar-Placido
Manila Bulletin

Filipinos have developed their own unique ways of drinking NESCAFÉ and these have all been largely influenced by practices handed down to them by their elders, their living conditions, and their work environment.

Some of them, though, just wanted to experiment on the flavors of this iconic coffee brand and in the process of trying out new concoctions, have developed delightful coffee treats.

Inherited coffee habits

Mang Rudy, 46, is a school bus driver who has developed the habit of drinking coffee while eating a kakanin. Before he sends students to school in the morning, he always buys suman, puto, kalamay, or biko—native delicacies that are readily available in the neighborhood where he parks his vehicle.

Enjoying coffee with these foods is a habit that Mang Rudy has developed over the years. These native treats served as "snacks" or even "full meals" for people like him who grew up in the province.

Talk about having coffee as a meal, Mang Rudy’s fellow school bus drivers, meanwhile, mix their prepared NESCAFÉ coffee with rice—serving as both soup and viand.

The Ramos children, whom Mang Rudy drives to school, on the other hand, has a more unique "take" on enjoying their coffee; they’ve transformed it into a frozen treat. What they do is to prepare coffee with cream and then place it inside the freezer. Once the "concoction" is frozen, they take it out and enjoy it as a dessert or even as a merienda.

All these practices—from Mang Rudy’s to the Ramos children—are something that they all inherited from their parents and even grandparents.

Fast-paced lifestyles

One’s enjoyment of NESCAFÉ has likewise been largely influenced by their work and lifestyles. Today’s busy youth, for example, has taken to liking the ready-made mix of NESCAFÉ 3-in-1 and the coffee provided by NESCAFÉ’s vendo machines.

The NESCAFÉ vendo machines are popular in workplaces because they help employees to be alert and ready for work. Drinking coffee is also a sound way to increase concentration and improve performance at work.

Kenneth, a call center agent, for example, swears that the coffee he gets from the NESCAFÉ vendo machine is the perfect companion when he goes on his graveyard shift. It charges him up and helps him to stay awake and focused on his tasks.

For Nicole, a supervisor in a prestigious management consulting and outsourcing company, NESCAFÉ 3-in-1 is perfect for hectic days. When not busy, she enjoys her coffee with a cookie or biscuit, dipping them in the concoction. Good thing the company Nicole works for keeps stocks of NESCAFÉ 3-in-1 for its employees.

Experimenting on flavors

If some people like to combine their coffee with pandesal or suman, there are also other coffee-lovers who like their coffee paired with fresh fruits. Davaoenos, for example, have an exceptional manner of drinking NESCAFÉ. Jayson, born and raised in Davao, has learned to drink coffee while eating durian.

Jayson says that durian and coffee are a perfect match in Davao. He explains that durian adds an exciting taste to his enticing hot coffee. Whenever there is durian in his house, his routine is to pair it with a deliciously hot NESCAFÉ. Since the fruit is widely available, Davaoenos learned to match coffee with fresh durian. The fruit’s sweet taste and custard-like texture makes coffee-drinking more pleasurable for many of them.

And for those who do not have sweet delicacies and fruits on hand, they have found other ingredients to complement their coffee.

Tisha, a college student, for example, uses caramel to enjoy her NESCAFÉ. By just mixing caramel syrup and powdered creamer with coffee, she can instantly have a sweet and delightful beverage. She likes ice-cold drinks so sometimes she also adds ice cubes to her coffee. If there’s vanilla syrup available, she also uses it to make her instant coffee more flavorful and aromatic.

These are just some of the ways that Filipinos enjoy their NESCAFÉ. How about you?

How do you enjoy yours?

Josephine Aguilar-Placido is a Sociology professor at the University of Sto. Tomas and has been a regular resource person in several talk shows and symposia.

Melody M. del Rosario, assistant vice president for media and corporate communications, in a text message to BusinessWorld, said the stake represents 310,999 shares worth P1,600 per share.

The transaction is expected to be completed by month’s end, MPIC said.

Incorporated in 1966, DDH is one of the largest private hospitals in Davao City with 250 beds. It is considered the best medical facility in Mindanao.
"Our investment in Davao Doctors is a significant step in realizing our desire to expand into the hospital business and help improve the delivery of health care services throughout the country," said MPIC Chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan in a statement.

MPIC is an investment and management company with interests in water utility, real estate development and healthcare.

The company presently holds 33.45% of Medical Doctors, Inc., the owner and operator of the Makati Medical Center. — Lovely Nica P. Lee

this is true mga goys.

i had a talk with one of the metro pacific guys and they said that upon completion of the sale of the shares of DDC, they are going to build a new multi billion building for DDC in matina. they are going to convert the existing building into a commercial space.

Standards of hotel classification
Some countries have an official body with standard criteria for classifying hotels, but in many regions there are none. There have been attempts at unifying the classification system so that it becomes an internationally recognized and reliable standard but large differences exist in the quality of the accommodations within one category of hotel. Competitive marketing of hotel services to foreign customers and tourist professionals have emerged as driving forces for instituting a Standardization of local and national hotel classification system.

One Star, Two Star, and Three Star hotels are never claimed and carry a pejorative.

Four Star Hotels
xxxx

Five Star Hotels
xxxxxx

Six Star Hotels
Some members of the hospitality industry have claimed a six star rating for their operation. The Crown Macau casino, on Taipa Island; St. Regis Shanghai Hotel in China; Setai on Miami's South Beach; The Palazzo Versace on the Gold Coast in Australia.

Seven Star HotelsAlthough the Burj Al Arab characterizes itself as the world's only "7-Star Hotel", several "7-Star" hotels are under construction.

The Morgan Plaza, Beijing (China)
The Flower of the East, Kish (Iran)
The Centaurus Complex, Islamabad (Pakistan)
The Pentominium, Manila (Philippines)
The Royalties Castle, for Davao City (Philippines)

Establishing a Universal Hotel Rating System
OHICC believes that setting up an international hotel star classification scheme is an impossible task. Quantitative criteria (room size, construction standards, language proficiency) vary to much from country to country. Qualitative criteria remain highly subjective. Many on-line travel agencies have establish their own rating systems, providing enhanced, current evaluations.

That said, One Star, Two Star, and Three Star hotels should hold some merit but it would be near impossible to implement because of marketing slate and the subjective nature of the qualitative data. However, for the standardization higher ratings of Four Star, and Five Star is a feasible and the global acceptance of the star rating system should not be discounted.

We believe once a strict bar is raised for Four Star rating, and that all Five Star claims be validated then the rating standards will prove benefitial for all participants.

OHICC offical position on Seven Star Hotels and Six Star Hotels is that is a marketing gimic. For them to have merit they must adhere to exclusivity to a rare collection of excellent hotels. The OHICC steering commitee has approved the use of 7-star & 6-star ratings under these rules:

OHICC members will vote on the top Hotels in the World
Nominations maybe submitted from April 2008-October 2008
all nominated Hotels must have recieve travel industry acclaim recently
the top earners will recieve the ranking of 5 Star Plus
7-Star Award (limited to 7 Hotels)
6-Star Award (limited to 25 Hotels)

Aw oo!

Ay, maliit pa rin compared to SM Mall of Asia.

most of these mall operators now are going for their niche markets.

most of these mall operators now are going for their niche markets.

And please do not forget the four local malls, too.

NCCC Mall Davao
Gaisano Mall of Davao
Gaisano South Citimall
Victoria Plaza (the Ali Mall of the South :D)

yup...ive seen the links...but i wont believe those news until it would be confirmed by the hotelier and developer themselves. :okay:

Out of curiousity, i tried googling about it. may mga sites nga that talks about it pero hindi naman credible tingnan. Mamaya na ako maniniwala if Inquirer or PSE mismo ang magrelease or if the company behind it would make a statement na. But well, it's a welcome development sa davao if totoo man...but for now, let's talk about those confirmed projects muna. :okay:

that site is kinda doubtful. if so they are true, they should at least work more on their site para mas credible.
