Thousands to join Davao leg in Milo's Takbo Pilipinas marathon
Rico Biliran/MindaNews
Saturday, 02 August 2008 11:57

DAVAO CITY (MindaNews / August 1) – More than 70,000 runners were expected to turn up and try to run for glory and savor the phenomenal experience on Sunday's Davao leg of the 32nd National Milo Marathon.

Race will start at exactly 6 am.

The more than 12,000 registrants from this city will simultaneously kick from their starting lines when the gunshot signals the same to more than 20,000 other participants from Metro Manila, Cebu and Tarlac.

"We have synchronized watches with those in Metro Manila, Cebu and Tarlac," said Nestle Milo executive, Andrew Neri, on Thursday's Davao Sportswriters Association Forum.

"And we will run simultaneously for *Takbo Pilipinas *on Sunday which is the first to happen in Milo Marathon's history," Neri added.

He said Nestle bought equipments from the US to implement the simultaneous staging of the four provincial legs with synchronize time system.

With this innovation, the race organizer was optimistic to surpass last year's total participants of 186,000. They are targeting 200,000 participants this year.

For this city leg, it would be an out-and-back race at the Rizal Park fronting the City Hall.

Cash prizes amounting to P40,000 await the top male and female finishers in the centerpiece 21-kilometer run.

The male and female top winner will take home P10,000 while the next two finishers will get P6,000 and P4,000 respectively.

Aside from the purse, the top three finishers in both division will qualify for the 41.195-k national finals slated Nov. 30 in Manila.

There will be also a competition in 5-K and 3-K with cash prizes up for grabs.

An inter-school cheer dance competition will also be held as a side event to add more color to the activity.

This year's edition of the National MILO Marathon willl be staged in 25 cities nationwide with four races to be staged simultaneously in Manila, Tarlac, Cebu and Davao.

"Manila, Tarlac, Cebu and Davao are four of the cities that consistently attract a huge number of participants so we thought of staging our elimination races simultaneously to further highlight the health impact of the National MILO Marathon to as many people as possible," said Nestlé AVP and MILO sports events executive Pat Goc-ong.

Neri says the Milo marathon had contributed a lot to the country's grassroot sports development program as far as running events was concerned saying it has produced "several champions".

"Its part of our social responsibility as a company," Neri said. (Rico Biliran / MindaNews)

while davao is very strong in foreign shipping, looking at the data domestically, south mindanao performed well in some areas. pmo ozamis i guess tops the passenger traffic in all of mindanao pmos

The Port District of Northern Mindanao has jurisdiction over all ports situated at the Northern part of Mindanao Island within the provinces of Misamis Oriental, Agusan del Norte and Surigao. The PMOs included within these territorial limits are Cagayan de Oro, Butuan (Masao and Agusan Ferry Terminal), Nasipit, Iligan, Ozamis, and Surigao and the Mindanao Container Terminal..
bit different in composition in bureau of customs district clustering i learne from both websites. like port of cdo is a collection district covering subports of iligan, ozamis, bislig surigao(why included?), and mindanao container port.

^^ Manila is a beautiful city and the entire place is not filled with filth or trash. In fact, all of the cities in our country are beautiful, clean, and green thanks to the efforts of their local governments.

Welcome to the thread lemonsito. Davao is also my birth city and like you, Im here in Metro Manila. I do miss Davao as well.

The Philippines thread can be seen in the main page because it is one of the most active threads in SSC. It used to be a subthread years ago ;) though.

;23509366'] bitaw oi, concentrate na lang mo sa south kay ang balance sa malling scene pabor na kaayo sa north :( if naa nay SM City Lanang sa north then ma negate na ang atong advantage nga naa sa ato-a ang SM, then naa silay Abreza, G-Mall, Victo and Robinsons

So by 2010

ang SM City Ecoland, naa nay equivalent mall sa north with SM City Lanang
ang NCCC Mall Davao naa nay equivalent mall with Abreza (char)

then naa pa silay G-Mall, Robinsons and Victo
sm city lanang has location advantage for the samal city market and more

^^ Manila is a beautiful city and the entire place is not filled with filth or trash. In fact, all of the cities in our country are beautiful, clean, and green thanks to the efforts of their local governments.

Welcome to the thread lemonsito. Davao is also my birth city and like you, Im here in Metro Manila. I do miss Davao as well.

The Philippines thread can be seen in the main page because it is one of the most active threads in SSC. It used to be a subthread years ago ;) though.

ok, ok i stand corrected  i'm in pasay..
but i have to air this out without sounding mean. manila has good spots, everything you'd expect from the most progressive metropolitan in the country but it's decaying, murag gotham city ba hehe. if you pass by la salle taft for instance, you can't help but juxtapose these rich kids and the poor who live on the sidewalk. i don't want to demean manila but i don't want the same thing to happen to davao. not that i want to impede davao's progress but i hope there is a way to avoid these problems. just a thought.

Chamber pushes master plan for tourism, investment dev't (http://www.sunstar.com.ph/static/dav/2008/08/04/bus/chamber.pushes.master.plan.for.tourism.investment.dev.t.html)
By Joy Romares-Sevilla

THE Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (DCCCII) is pushing for the drafting of a master plan for tourism and investment development of the city as contained in resolutions submitted by the chamber to Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte.

In these resolutions, businessmen urged the mayor to implement a comprehensive and integrated marketing plan to promote Davao as an attractive and peaceful investment destination. The chamber also requested the City Government to develop and implement a comprehensive tourism master plan for the city.

DCCCII said Davao City is considered to be an attractive tourist destination and is the Philippine gateway to Asia, but such image has been adversely affected by the negative perception about Mindanao as a war zone.

It added that there is a need to create a more accurate and positive image of Davao City distinct from that of Mindanao.

As this developed, the chamber urged the City Government to undertake marketing and communications plan that will distinguish Davao City from the rest of Mindanao, attract investments, and position it as an attractive and peaceful destination.

Attracting more tourism investments for the city such as medical tourism and others, DCCCII also submitted a resolution for the implementation of a tourism master plan for the city.

It said that Davao City is one of the top tourist destinations in Mindanao, adding that in 2007, the city recorded an increase of 16 percent of tourists' arrivals.

In its resolution, DCCCII cited the factors that prevent the tourism industry from maintaining its development based on the observation of the industry players in major cities in Mindanao.

It said that industry players in major cities in Mindanao cited the lack of programs for education, human resource development, and the lack of support for tourism development.

Thus, a comprehensive and participative planning which will involve stakeholders is needed to support the tourism industry.

^^ i agree. IMO there are 4 factors in choosing which coffee shop to patronize... taste, service, ambience and name. i am pretty sure out of over a hundred highend coffee shops in davao city, the first 3 factors can be fairly contested. sadly, some coffee drinkers want to drink the name. parang jollibee or mcdo, i never really liked any of their burgers... mahal na, maliit pa, pipila ka pa, pahirapan pa humanap ng upuan. i'll take Mang Manok's or Igloo's burger any time. kaya nga lang, talagang kasama na talaga ang "NAME" sa kinakain or umiinom eh. kaya ayon... :)

‘We are here to complete’
Brokenshire opens resort, convention center
A resort, convention center, and hospital in one. This is what Brokenshire Integrated Hosipital Ministries, Inc. (BIHMI) is offering after the launching of the Brokenshire Resort and Convention Center (BRCC) last July 3.
Located at the back of the hospital, the former three-hectare slope of trees and grass has been transformed into a haven for family or individual recreation.

The resort, which opened to the public last July 28, has a swimming pool, six cottages, and a convention center with seven suites, five dormitory rooms, 30 standard rooms, and three function rooms. The Sampaguita Hall can accommodate 800 people, Ilang Ilang 100, and Waling-Waling 100. Smaller function rooms for 50 people are also available.

Because of its sloping terrain, the convention center is five stories on one side and four stories on the other.

Originally conceptualized in 1998, it was put up to cater not only to medical needs but also give leisure to local tourists.

Chief executive officer Rev. Ruben dela Cruz said the establishment of the BRCC aims to generate income. Fifty percent of the income will go to the hospital’s community projects while the other 50 percent is for the welfare of the hospital.

BIHMI, Davao City’s oldest private hospital, is a church-owned health organization of the United Church of Christ in the Philippines (UCCP). It was put up in 1908 during the malaria outbreak in Davao City. It evolved into the Davao Mission Hospital and was renamed Brokenshire Memorial Hospital in honor of Dr. Herbert Brokenshire in 1950.

BIHMI has three ministries and one goal. It focuses on the Business Resource Center, Brokenshire Hospital, and the Community Health and Development Program (CHDP).

Aside from quality health care, BIHMI continues to celebrate its compassionate and excellent total health care for all this years as healing ministry to Davao and Philippines through the acquisition of new medical apparatus and technologies for a more efficient and reliable treatment.

Carrying the tagline “we are here to complete, not to compete,” BIHMI has strengthened its capability to provide quality health care for all these years in both urban and rural communities. It also continues to carry its existing commitment of working out strategies like offering affordable medicines, health packages, state-of-the-art equipment, and now leisure packages.

Dela Cruz said the BRCC is just part of Phase I of BIHMI’s projects. Phase II will include putting up a hospitel (similar to a condotel), eco-walk with a mini boating area, and a medical mall.

He said the projects as well as new medical equipment will be realized in five years.

Last June, BIHMI was able to open three areas for their community based projects in Surala South Cotabato, Governor Generoso, and Alabel, General Santos City.

Dela Cruz said his vision is that ten years from now, a bigger BIHMI with 350 bed capacity, more sub-specialists, additional machines, and more pilot areas will be established.

As for the use of the resort, an entrance fee cost P60 per head allows a guest to use the resort and swimming pool for free. For more inquiries, contact telephone numbers 227-9610 and 305-3525.

:banana::banana::banana:
"We are here to compete", wow, makikipag competensya na ang Brokenshire sa Hospitality Industry...

Businessmen cite difficulty in starting business in Davao

By BEN D. ARCHE

DAVAO CITY — Although businessmen find it difficult to start a new business here, making the city a peaceful place for business is more than anything else that the city government can give to them.

This was made clear by an official of the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCCI) during the local government consultation with the business sector spearheaded by Mayor Rodrigo Duterte.

"We are thankful for the peace and order that the mayor has maintained in order to pursue business. We want you to know that we appreciate and are thankful for it," DCCCI president Simeon Marfori said to Duterte.

City Administrator Wendel Avisado, City Treasurer Rodrigo Riola, Business Bureau Chief Jhoppie Avancena-Agustin and Davao City Investment Promotions Chief Roberto Teo also attended the consultative meeting.

"The business processing is something that can be improved to make a much better business climate but then again it is not the most important thing for us," Marfori told.

Duterte urged the businessmen to come up with recommendations that would streamline or simplify the business application process in the city.

A business report released earlier by the International Finance Corporation (IFC) has ranked Davao City in the 19th place of the 21 cities identified as the hardest places to do business.

The result of the IFC study has been criticized by various groups including the Business Bureau and the City Council.

Gerlyn Catagui, IFC executive director, who was present in the consultation, volunteered services to assist in identifying the portions of the business process that are considered difficult for the applicants.

Duterte welcomed the offer of the IFC, saying that their recommendations will be taken into account together with those of the other business groups that would be used as basis for an executive order to come up with new regulations.

The city government, however, made it cleared that it cannot give DCCCI’s request to create a one-stop shop for business processing to include the national government agencies.

DCCCI also suggested for a single application form to be used to transact with all these agencies.

"The national agencies cannot even agree among themselves.. They have conflicting regulations," City Administrator Avisado said.

He said the Department of Trade and Industry should come up and push for a law mandating all government agencies to come together and create a system other than the present one.

Chamber prefers AIM over IFC report
Sunstar Online

THE Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (DCCCII) is more inclined to believe the report of the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) over the report made by the International Finance Corporation (IFC) for obvious reasons.

The report made by AIM ranked Davao City as the most competitive city in the entire country while the report released by IFC ranked Davao City as one of the most difficult cities in the country to start a business in.

Davao City was ranked 19 out of 21 cities in the country, based on its reception to businesses that are just starting.

During last Wednesday's Club 888 forum at the Marco Polo Hotel Davao, Conrado Hernaez Jr., executive director of the DCCCII, said that basing on the track records of the two institutions, AIM has a more credible track record.

"AIM has been conducting their study for several years now," Hernaez said.

IFC, an affiliate of the World Bank Group, released its first sub-national study on doing business in the Philippines last May 2008. On the other hand, AIM released its 5th study on the competitiveness of the cities here in the country just this July.

^^ Davao City is RP's most competitive city

Sunstar Online

DAVAO City remains the No. 1 most competitive city in the Philippines based on the survey of the Asian Institute of Management (AIM).

This is a different tune to last week's reports of the city being a difficult place to do business in.

The Philippine Cities Competitiveness Ranking Project 2007 results showed Davao City beating local government units in the capital Metro Manila.

In the last survey two years ago, Davao City tied for No. 1 with Makati City, the nation's premier financial center.

A total of 90 local government units were included in the survey with three different categories: metropolitan, mid-sized, and small cities.

Davao topped two of six key competitive drivers and scored the highest rate among highly urbanized cities.

It has the highest scored in Cost of Doing Business and Infrastructure drivers while placing No. 4 in Dynamism of Local Economy where Makati emerged No. 1.

The city placed 7th in Quality of Life, which was topped by Mandaluyong and clinched the 3rd spot in Responsiveness of Local Government that was topped by San Juan City.

In Human Resources & Training, Davao also placed 7th while Marikina City got the top spot.

Overall in the metropolitan cities category, Davao City grabbed the top spot scoring 7.05, followed by Quezon City (6.61); Makati City (6.58); Manila (6.43); Marikina City (6.37); Lapu-lapu City (6.30); Paranaque City (6.30); Muntinlupa City (6.29); Cebu City (6.27); and Pasay City (6.24).

Olongapo City topped the mid-sized cities while San Fernando, La Union was No. 1 among small cities.

Davao City showed improvement in two key drivers - Responsiveness of the Local Government - ranked No. 6 in 2005 to No. 3 in the latest survey, and in Human Resources and Training - from No. 11 in 2005 to No. 7 at present.

According to Councilor Peter Laviña, this recognition proves that Davao's efforts to check its weaknesses in the past are now bearing fruit particularly in Human Resource where the city scored low before. (Grace L. Plata/Sunnex)

Chamber pushes master plan for tourism, investment dev't

ONE of the top tourist destinations in Mindanao or THE top tourist destination in Mindanao? I think the latter phrase is more accurate. :)

It's about time...dapat lang! I dont wanna sound selfish - pero nanotice ko kc, in times na ok na ok ang economy and status ng Davao, nakikiride on ang other areas in Mindanao. Pero during those times when we went through trials and challenges (security threats) - these Mindanao cities left us and even claimed that they are far from Southern Mindanao, that ang chaos is just in Southern Mindanao, etc etc.

Let our city promote Davao City and Davao City alone. Bahala na ang ibang cities jan mamoblema kung papano nila ipromote cities nila!

Well done grilling
July 24, 2008 — Peter
http://ptlavina.wordpress.com/2008/07/24/well-done-grilling/

Well, I did not grill anyone at the City Council last Tuesday. I actually asked three simple questions from the representative of the World Bank - International Finance Corporation (IFC) regarding its study that showed “it is difficult to start a business in the city.”

Its study claimed that it takes 42 days to obtain a business permit in Davao City. Repeat 42 days!

And so, I asked the WB-IFC rep how long it would take her to travel from her office to City Hall, about 3 kilometers way. She was a bit surprised by my question. She replied 15 minutes.

Then, I inquired how long it would take her for her lunch break that day. One hour she answered.

Finally, I asked her if she were to report these activities to her HQ in Washington DC, would she report the trip and the lunch separately as 1 Day each?

At first she was hesitant to answer. She finally conceded to report it as 15 minutes and 1 hour respectively and on the same day.

I rest my case.

Her admission to these fact were clear indication to me that their study had a fatal and fundamental error. In their time-motion study of obtaining business permits, they quantify the activities by the day and not by the realistic average time such as for instance, in minutes or hours. We all know that time is gold to business people.

Thus, their study claimed that it would take 1 Day to get a residence certificate from the City Treasurer, and another 1 Day to obtain a business permit application form, and so on. I raised this objection because in reality, one could secure these two things in a few minutes or at most 1 Hour.

In obtaining a zoning certificate, their study listed a total of 9 days to get one! Our zoning official was present at the City Council session at the time and so I moved for her participation. Architect Luisa Tuquib refuted the WB-IFC study. She said the certificate could be obtained in a few minutes. She said if she were out of the office, the same could be obtained in half a day or at most 1 Day.

The second objection I raised was in the manner of listing each and every step in obtaining a business permit. Many of these steps could be done simultaneously or in parallel with other steps. Yet, in the WB-IFC study, it listed each step separately and on separate days. OMG, haven’t they heard of multi-tasking!

Hence, in the case, for instance, in obtaining a residence certificate from the City Treasurer and obtaining a business permit application form at the Business Bureau, the study listed the two activities as 1 Day each and on 2 separate Days. This is a total exaggeration!

The City Treasurer’s Office and the Business Bureau are neighbors - yes side by side - at the ground floor of the City Council Building. Therefore, obtaining these two requirements could be done in a matter of minutes or at most an Hour or so, and could be done in the same Day. Surely, not 2 Days as claimed by the WB-IFC.

Veteran Councilor Vic Advincula summed up our long debate on the issue. He raised the collective concern of the members of the City Council over the apparent “dis-information” when he concluded that the study was “grossly wrong!”

On a final note, there are about 34,000 registered businesses in the city. If it were true that it takes 42 Days to secure a business permit in the city, we would have seen a revolt in town a long time ago!

Yes, there may be faults and loopholes in our system and these are being addressed. But this is not comparable to the folly of the WB-IFC methodology!

Incidentally, the grilling was well done!

Biz bureau: IFC hasn't paid fees

AS A curious side note to the Business Bureau's presentation on business permit application Tuesday, bureau chief Jhoppie Avanceña-Agustin said the International Finance Corporation (IFC) has violated the Revenue Code of Davao City for non-payment of regulatory fees.

"They say that they are tax exempted as affiliate of the World Bank. But they are not exempted from regulatory fees," Agustin said.

This, however, may be a reflection on how unclear are the procedures for an establishment, which is stranger to Davao, to set up operations here, consequently making it indeed "difficult" for investors to come in.

IFC is the same outfit, which published the "doing business" survey that caused an uproar among City Government officials. Davao City settled at the 19th place, making it among the most difficult places to do business in.

Agustin said there are two factors, which may cause the delay in applying for a business permit -- taxpayers and regulatory offices.

"The procedure can be completed in a day. The delays may be caused by the taxpayer himself who put off the processing for the next day and regulatory office which may need additional documents," Agustin said.

She, however, said that the survey released by IFC does not reflect the true scenario and that IFC continued to publish the report even when the Business Bureau sent a letter of objection to the results. This is because IFC did not validate the data they had with the Business Bureau.

Councilor Peter Laviña then moved to ask Agustin for a written report on the matter so that the City Council can formally protect the IFC study through a resolution.

"It is unrealistic, unfair, inaccurate, objectionable, inconsistent and absurd," Laviña said.

Vice Mayor Sara Z. Duterte, on the other hand, asked Agustin to point out the kinks in the procedure that can still be improved to ensure a smooth application procedure.

This as Agustin said there are requirement prescribed under the Revenue Code that are unnecessary.

"The proposed procedure will have the taxpayers transact with only two offices located at the SP. They will just have to complete the application form, submit the basic requirements, pay at the City Treasurer, have it notarized and when completed, submit it to the Business Bureau. We will give him the business logo with a compliance form with a list of requirements that should be completed within 30 days of the permit issuance," Agustin said.

Agustin said this will lessen the face-to-face transactions that the applicants have to go through which has been a basis of the IFC in counting the days to process the permit. (GLP)

^^ When tourism players from Davao visit the capital, they normally promote Mindanao as a whole (which is a good thing ofcourse). Pero, had anyone of us visited an exhibit of some Mindanao cities here in the capital? or pag may mga exhibits sila sa cities nila?

Nakakainis the way they promote their cities - I once visited a travel expo two years ago and checked one of the booths from Mindanao. I acted as if ive never been to Mindanao. Then I asked, "hindi ba scary jan sa Mindanao coz of the MILF issues". Ang reply nung nasa booth - "hindi, safe sa amin. Malayo naman kami sa Davao eh". grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! In the first place, wala man intawon MILF sa Davao. So wala lang ko nicomment, i just smiled.

And when you visit a Davao booth - nako, sobrang heroic natin. buong Mindanao pinopromote natin regardless if may issue dun or wala.

Simple observation but I think its one of the reasons why we are having a tough time promoting our city. Kc heroic tayo. We carry the burdens of other areas in Mindanao. We normally promote that Davao is Mindanao. Thank God this would soon change.

It's about time to have our own plan to promote Davao and Davao City alone.

Hydro power plant won’t affect Davao City water supply
Philippine Daily Inquirer
First Posted 06:25:00 08/04/2008

DAVAO CITY—The planned hydroelectric power plant projects in Tamugan and Panigan rivers here would not affect the city’s water supply if the new study to be presented by the Aboitiz-owned Hedcor Inc. is considered.

The Davao City Water District (DCWD) has consistently opposed the projects and warned about a water shortage if it pushed through.

DCWD also draws water from the two rivers to supply its more than 100,000 clients here.

But Rene Ronquillo, Hedcor president and chief operating officer, said their study showed that the hydropower projects would not affect DCWD’s supply capability.

Ronquillo said DCWD could simply move its stations to elevations 325 or 375, which would actually be advantageous as it would save the water utility firm some six to seven kilometers in pipes.

He said Hedcor was willing to cooperate with DCWD to make things easier for both companies.

Rodora Gamboa, DCWD general manager, said they still have to see the Hedcor study before they could issue any comment.

But Gamboa said they were not only worrying about the impact of Hedcor’s project on the quality of water of the two rivers but also the actual volume that they could draw from these once it became operational.

The Hedcor project, she said, would suck up water from the rivers and dry up the DCWD water supply downstream.

“Can we be assured that they will give us the four cubic meters of water (that we need)? What if they don’t release the needed water to us?” she said.

Gamboa said they were not making empty claims but their apprehensions were based on the result of their own study, which showed that the water supply will dry up once Hedcor’s power plants operate.

Ronquillo said they wanted to fast track the project implementation because aside from the problem on electricity shortage by 2011, other stakeholders are dependent on it.

He said they already signed agreements with indigenous peoples’ organizations in the eight barangays covered by the project.

“When the plant starts operating, the lumad communities will receive P2 to P3 million a year apart from the revenues that will go directly to the barangays and the P1.8 million in rentals on lands where the pipes would be placed on,” he said.

Ronquillo said Hedcor would also construct bridges, roads and other support facilities in these communities. Rizalene Acac, Inquirer Mindanao

Davao (region) - Land of Fulfilled Promise :):):)

I like that wanda....or how 'bout this for the entire Davao Region as well.

Davao - Great Escapades in Southeast Asia

Davao - Unravel The Secret of Southeast Asia

Davao - a destination in Southeast Asia

Yes, ganito yung theme. Pero since napagusapan na rin natin yung self-contained marketing strategy ng Davao, I would suggest ilagay din yung heading na: DAVAO: A tropical paradise in Southeast Asia. Or anything of its equivalent na maagree-han natin ngayon. Then i-suggest na rin natin sa City Tourism Office thru Bong Aportadera.

^^ "gold of the orient"

Not only with conviction, but with maximum effect! After all, if you go deep into the heart of, say Luzon, most people would only know Davao. And then dagdagan pa nila ng, "maganda daw dun sabi ng isang kakilala ko."

May ibang hirit pa ganito: "Taga saan ka?" "Davao po." "Wow! Maganda dun!"

Tapos sinubukan ko ibahin when I had the chance. Ganito: "Taga saan ka?" "Taga ____ po." "Saan yun???" :)

oo nga maximum effect buti nalang di ko na laga special effect lol

well i guess hindi na mahirap i promote ang Davao , maybe it's time to drop Mindanao to promote Davao w/ maximized effect :jk:

The second objection I raised was in the manner of listing each and every step in obtaining a business permit. Many of these steps could be done simultaneously or in parallel with other steps. Yet, in the WB-IFC study, it listed each step separately and on separate days. OMG, haven’t they heard of multi-tasking!

dali lang mi dati nakakuha ug business permit, gipaasikaso lang namo sa among bookkeeper..hehehe...

comment lang ko with outher gov't agencies...sana mag setup sila ng one-stop shop for these things...kse, with other gov't agencies, like LTO, pirting sakita sa ulo mag process ug papers diha...it takes 1 day to renew license...or magtransfer ng car ownership, daghan other locations na paadtuan for inspection, etc...

1. The Bangsamoro People refers to those who are natives or original inhabitants of Mindanao and its adjacent islands including Palawan and the Sulu archipelago at the time of conquest or colonization and their descendants whether mixed or of full native blood. Spouses and their descendants are classified as Bangsamoro, including the non-islamized indigenous peoples, unless they choose not to be part.
c)The Bangsamoro People as “First Nation” with defined territory and with a system of government having entered into treaties of amity and commerce with foreign nations.

opinion:
hindi xa favorable para sa IP's na affected kasi magdodominate ang mga moro's in terms of governance, etc.

2. There shall be established an government entity – the so-called Bangsamoro Juridical Entity (BJE) - which shall have the authority and jurisdiction over the territory.

Opinion:
the IP"s will be forced to obey the Rules of the Moro's which is the worst but the most probable scenario after the declaration of the agreement which is in contrast to:

2. The Philippine Government grants the Bangsamoro People their own distinct territory.

The life and culture of the indigenous peoples have always been linked to the land. Since time immemorial, Davao has been the homeland of the Indigenous Peoples and land has become the core of their existence. If their land is lost, so is their culture and traditions. Thus, there is a need to defend the indigenous peoples’ ancestral lands for them to continually live and practice their way of life- consulting the spirits, working with nature and sharing with others. This is the main reason of celebrating the Kadayawan sa Dabaw 2008.

Iba naman experience ko..Kc iba ang world and crowd ko eh...ehehehehe pag may nagtanong sakin tapos sinabi ko na "I grew up in Davao", they would reply:

"Ah...kaya pala pogi" loko lang... all kidding aside, they would say "maraming pogi dun!" :D

iba naman experience ko. there was one time during lunch na na-brought up officemate ko ang report ni mike enriquez (i think) na marami daw daga sa davao airport. and guess what, parang galit pa ibang officemates ko (lahat tagalog) in defending davao. i didn't have to say sa single word.

iba talaga ang dating
