in fairness sa Bangayans, naa ko 2 scenarios na nakikita, if they invested on their ferries, dapat we should allow them to recoup their investment din...kasi the ferries are public utilities din naman, servicing the cities of Igacos and Davao.

2nd scenario, I think the Bangayans have already recouped their investment kasi murag dugay na nang mga ferry dinha...so, when the bridge is built, Holiday buses can ply Davao-Igacos route. :D pwede? pwede! win-win.

with the bridge in place, how bout ferry service between samal city and mati city and feasible towns along the coast of davao oriental and compostela province. imo itwill gain patronage bec it cut travel time substantially i guess. and besides, helps generate more income for the ports especially the one in mati city

[QUOTE=davaob4now;26377850]naka bawi na siguro sila sa nagasto nila sa ilang ferry oi...pero if gusto nila, they can still operate, more on tourism business nga lang, not in transportation...pwede man pud sila himuong alternative route...if a tourist wants sight seeing while crossing the sea then the ferries are there, or if they want island tour aroung samal, then the ferries are there...or if palit sila ferry, then the ferries are there...lol

Tourism would be good....island hopping..or pwede pud mag floating reataurant sila, hmmp...watyatink? naa na ba floating resto sa wadab?

A petition has been launched condemning the Harry And Paul show for a sketch in which one man urged another to "mount" a Filipina maid.

The Philippine embassy in London has written to the BBC and the Press Complaints Commission about the scene. ... (more (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/7656578.stm))

Davao, good site for BPO, exec says

AN OFFICIAL of the Business Process Outsourcing Association of Davao Inc. (BPO-ADI) said Davao is a good site for BPO operations.

Arlene Ozoa, secretary of the BPO-ADI, said Davao City is a typhoon-free area. The city is not saturated, unlike Manila and Davao, and it has many potential schools, colleges and universities that can produce quality graduates, she said.

"Blockout is also very rare in Davao City (which investors consider one of the risks in putting up a contact center)," Ozoa said during Wednesday’s Club 888 forum at the Marco Polo Hotel.

Meanwhile, Nanette del Monte, spokesperson of the BPO-ADI, agreed with Ozoa's statement, saying this made the city to be identified as one of the good BPO destinations in the country today.

"There were four independent surveys conducted, and only Davao City appeared three times in the survey. The future of the BPO industry in Davao is very promising," she said.

Del Monte added that today, there are five big call centers operating in Davao City, not to mention the small ones.

These call centers are the Western Wats, Concentrix (formerly Link2Support), the CyberCity, the Sutherland, and the Qualiserve.

"There is a continuous increase in the number of call centers in Davao," she added.

Ozoa, on the other hand, disclosed that the BPO industry is a way how a person can fast track his career, saying that contact center agents are paid very well and are given huge incentives (for outbound calls).

"Regardless of age, anyone can be employed as a call center agent. The only requirement is to speak English well," Ozoa added.

Earlier, the chief of BOI for Mindanao told Sun.Star Davao that IBM Global Business Service based in India has expressed willingness to invest in Davao City.

Gil Dureza, BOI chief for Mindanao, said the IBM Global Business Service has been communicating with the BOI-Davao for the past two months, expressing its willingness to operate here.

"They've been asking how much is paid for the human resources in Davao compared to Manila and other matters," Dureza said, adding that the IBM Global Business Service-India is not yet operational in Manila.

Dureza said the entry of the company in BOI-Davao was facilitated by the BOI Central Office in Manila.

"BOI-Manila facilitated the company's entry to Davao. BOI-Manila referred Davao since it is an excellent destination for business process outsourcing (BPO)," Dureza said.
He said the company intends to invest in life science industry in Davao. (JGRS)

The Marco Polo Davao
SETTING THE TREND IN HOTEL CUSTOMER SATISFACTION
By Manuel T. Cayon
Reporter
MP Davao (http://www.businessworld.com)

DAVAO CITY—Being here in this premier southern seaport and “doing well” in the last 10 years should be enough reason for other world-class businesses to take their dip into this part of southern Philippines.

The highly acclaimed hotel in the Marco Polo group of hotels in Asia has become a symbol of innovation and success and Marco Polo general manager Stanley Lau believes that their foray into creating new products to enhance customer satisfaction has set the trend in hotel innovation and operation in Mindanao.

“And primarily due to keeping your clients satisfied that makes the Marco Polo the place to be, and the most awarded in our group of hotels,” Lau now beams with pride at the world-class tradition that the Marco Polo Davao has brought to Davao.

How to sell Davao City to the world?
http://www.businessmirror.com.ph/0822&232008/images/SFeature-pic02.jpg

“We are doing very well; that’s how we may sell the place, of doing well in Mindanao,” he said. “When we promote the hotel, it’s not even only the hotel but we sell the destination that is Davao City, especially to those who do not know the area, that it’s a place to enjoy.”

Due to its effort, at least among its clients, “everybody now knows Davao City.”

“We can’t see through the crystal ball but the city is really getting the interest of the big investors,” he said, and cited the construction of an Ayala center and the Robinsons Place in the northern district of the city.
The Deck

Hotel clients of Marco Polo now don’t have to go far to experience living and enjoying the beach resorts.

Right at the deck, at the hotel’s fourth-floor exterior, is the renovation of a plain poolside into a replica of a resort, even much furbished than other resorts. It has the Lazuli Spa, a fitness center, the Sarangani function room and the Polo Bistro Pool Lounge “all with a stunning view of the pool.”

“We just opened our Deck, a brand-new product to set the trend in resort market. We are creating a resort in a city environment,” Lau said.

The innovation is intended to bring the comfort and enjoyment of a resort nearer to the hotel’s clients. “Lots of businessmen are here on meetings, appointments. Where would they go after work? They don’t have to go that far to relax.”

http://www.businessmirror.com.ph/0822&232008/images/SFeature-pic03.jpg
Indoors, they can have the feeling of the outdoors. They can also undertake outdoor activities there. “It’s a different setup, a friendly design, very modern and people appreciate it.”

“People from Manila, from Europe, the US, even our clients from Dubai; they enjoy it and keep coming and some extend their stay, like it’s their own home,” he added.

The Deck is “very futuristic, a place to be” and Lau said that “if you have friends from Manila, or abroad, it’s a must to stay at the Marco Polo Hotel.”

“This is a Davaoeño product, a Davao brand,” he said.

The Marco Polo amenities

The Deck is the newest addition to the array of services in hotel comfort living.

All 245 luxurious rooms and suites are equipped with an executive desk, an international direct dialing telephone with voice mail facility, fax modem port, Internet access, remote control television, cable television, a minibar and in-room safes.

For the discerning business executives and leisure travelers wanting luxurious and personalized service, the hotel offers its Continental Club Floor. It is on the top two floors of the hotel and has its own private reception area, express check-in and check-out, private lounge with library and individual butler service.

And nothing can beat the Presidential Suite at its 18th floor, a relish of the “ultimate luxury and elegance,” with a commanding view of the city and the gulf of Davao. “This is the perfect place for heads of state, captains of industry or other dignitaries demanding utmost privacy and comfort.”

These rooms and suites are complemented by restaurants and bars in the hotel offering different ambiance and setting.

The Cafe Marco has its international cuisine in a casual ambiance that can accommodate 138 persons located on the second floor.

The Lotus Court at the third floor’s signature dining room offers Cantonese cuisine in an Oriental mood “with an impeccable Chinese setting.”

The Lobby Lounge where the guests “relax in the soothing sound of live entertainment as they sit down, enjoy their favorite drink and savor the exceptional merienda buffet to cap special afternoons.” The lounge offers western and Asian cuisine, too.

The Eagles’ bar, also at the main lobby as the Lobby Lounge, reflects the elegance of a classic bar “with rich wood panelling, comfortable leather seats and climate-controlled win storage facilitites.”

The Polo Bistro Pool Lounge at the deck, has international fine dining for 60 persons.

Strategic location

The hotel’s location is strategically located at the heart of downtown, and its imposing height can be seen from any locations in the city, such that it evokes a feeling of all roads leading to it.

From its operation 10 years ago, hotel occupancy has been above industry break-even rate. “And it is increasing through the years, which would indicate that business, not only for the hotel, but also for the city, is improving,” Lau said.

“The increase in tourist arrivals is on the right track. It’s not yet in the skyrocketing trend, but it is improving,” he added.

http://www.businessmirror.com.ph/0822&232008/images/SFeature-pic05.jpg

On certain occasions such as the Kadayawan festival, considered to be Mindanao’s festival of festivals, occupancy is full to the point “that sometimes, we have to reject customers because we are already fully booked.”

Davao City’s hosting in 2006 of the Asean Tourism Forum, Asia’s main travel and tourism event in a year, was the booster in promoting the city to the world.

“But Davao still needs a lot of sustained promotion to break into the international market,” he said. Although the Marco Polo’s visitors already include an increasing influx of foreigners, especially Europeans.

“Our visitors are increasing, even from Europe. Asians are still many, they are the pioneers. Now Europeans, we can see them in the malls, in the streets,” he said.

Customer satisfaction

Of utmost consideration in the hotel operation and setting the trend is always about customer satisfaction. “Clients don’t look only at the price; they all want to be satisfied,” Lau said.

And it’s a combination of factors to achieve it, mostly hinged on human resource: Our people are customer-oriented. “That’s how people from this place, from Mindanao, are. Their hospitality, their caring, their courtesy. They are always smiling and they serve people by heart.”

And for the city, the hotel has also contributed a lot. During the last two years alone, the hotel put in about P100 million in investments, mostly in innovations to fit into the market.

”That’s how every Marco Polo hotel try to fit into the culture of the place where they are,” he said. “We upgrade. We are now nine hotels, with a new one coming in Wu Han, China, in September.”

With a lot of innovations, the Marco Polo Davao has not been left unnoticed by its own peers. In 2005 and 2007, it earned international accolades.

In 2005 it topped an Asian-wide Guest Satisfaction Survey undertaken by the Marco Polo group of hotels.

The hotel here garnered between 78 percent to 80 percent, the ratings for Very Good to Excellent, in the various categories that comprised the overall Guest Satisfaction Survey for 2005.

The survey included the impression of guests from their arrival and check-in to accommodation and food, from amenities and services to hotel assistance to check-out.

Last year Marco Polo Davao rose above other contending Marco Polo hotels such as Marco Polo Hongkong Hotel, Marco Polo Gateway Hongkong, Marco Polo Parkside Beijing, Marco Polo Shenzhen, Marco Polo Xiamen, Marco Polo Plaza Cebu and Marco Polo Wuhan, to receive the 2007 Hotel of the Year award. Marco Polo Davao has given Davao City something to be proud about. With true service and genuine hospitality, this reflects an admirable note to the residents of the city.

“All numbers are up for Marco Polo here,” Lau said. “That’s generously stated.”

Rancho Palos Verdes Clubhouse is opening soon
By Imee Garcia

Speaking of clubhouses and locker rooms, the clubhouse of Rancho Palos Verdes Golf & Country Club (RPVGCC) will be opening very soon.

A clubhouse? Another clubhouse? Doesn't RPVGCC already have a clubhouse beside the golf course? Yes, that is correct. However, that is not the main clubhouse.

The main clubhouse, which is still under construction, is located at the Riverfront Drive, Corporate City, Diversion Highway, Maa, Davao City (where Davao Crocodile Park is located).

I was told by my brother-in-law, Sonny Dizon, that the tentative soft opening of the Rancho Palos Verdes Clubhouse is on New Year's eve. I am sure that the members of RPVGCC are happy to hear that the clubhouse is more accessible there than if it were built in Mandug.

For the ones who have gone to the Crocodile Park recently, you probably noticed that structure that is being built over there--THAT is the much awaited clubhouse.

Among the facilities we expect to see are: bowling alley, a world class gym, a huge swimming pool, spa/massage facilities, and of course, a restaurant.

The clubhouse is available to the members of RPVGCC. According to Sonny, it will also be available to the public. Shares of stock will most likely be sold in the future. Monthly memberships will probably be offered to the non-members of RPVGCC. Details about the opening and launching are still not clear to me.

However, I just want to let you know in advance that good things are happening soon and members of RPVGCC will have something to smile about.

in fairness sa Bangayans, naa ko 2 scenarios na nakikita, if they invested on their ferries, dapat we should allow them to recoup their investment din...kasi the ferries are public utilities din naman, servicing the cities of Igacos and Davao.

2nd scenario, I think the Bangayans have already recouped their investment kasi murag dugay na nang mga ferry dinha...so, when the bridge is built, Holiday buses can ply Davao-Igacos route. :D pwede? pwede! win-win.

naka bawi na siguro sila sa nagasto nila sa ilang ferry oi...pero if gusto nila, they can still operate, more on tourism business nga lang, not in transportation...pwede man pud sila himuong alternative route...if a tourist wants sight seeing while crossing the sea then the ferries are there, or if they want island tour aroung samal, then the ferries are there...or if palit sila ferry, then the ferries are there...lol

ma tagal2 pa ata maalis yang mga ferries so the bridge can wait. :D

The Economy
Ferry compensates for poor traffic through Davao’s port

DAVAO CITY — Interisland ship traffic through the Sasa Wharf here rose 5%, largely due to a privately owned roll-on-roll-off vessel ferrying passengers between Davao City and the nearby Island Garden City of Samal, data from the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA)-Southern Mindanao show.

The Mae Wess Ferry terminal, owned by Davao businessman Ronald L. Bangayan, which now deploys three ferries to Samal to cope with holiday and weekend peaks, offset the decline in other domestic vessel traffic, which fell 4% as of July this year after seeing an increase of 5% in the same period last year.

‘Troubles’

The report cited "troubles" that beset regular liners include a Superferry vessel that developed engine problems, the grounding of Sulpicio Lines’ ships in the wake of the M/V Princess of the Stars disaster last June, and the competition posed by airlines with their promo rates.

Foreign ship calls, however, posted a 12% increase in the same period which was a complete turnaround from the 6% contraction recorded last year.

"Foreign vessels have become bigger — [by] capacity and lengthwise — and are fast-moving, as stay times in Sasa Wharf have been trimmed by 38%, a positive indication in port language," the report said.

Better, but...

As of last July, total embarking and disembarking passengers at the Sasa Wharf reached 922,589, compared to 134,214 in June.

That number, however, was below the 136,317 passengers recorded by the PPA in same month last year.

Virgilio C. Amonia Sr., Maritime Industry Authority regional director for the Davao Region, said the very low rates offered by airline companies drastically affected patronage of shipping firms.

He said airlines’ promo rates approximated prices offered by shipping firms, while at the same time cutting travel time from three days via sea to just hours via air travel.

To make matters worse, the M/V Princess of the Stars disaster last June also caused travelers to lose confidence in the seaworthiness of interisland vessels. — Joel B. Escovilla

Davao’s sisterhood with Keelung, Taiwan strengthened with medical mission

DAVAO CITY PNA) — The sisterhood agreement of Davao City with Keelung, Taiwan continues to strengthen when the Davao City Host Lions Club conducted recently a medical mission here.

City councilor Rachel Zozobrado, chair of the Council Committee on International Relations, said the medical, dental and optical mission was facilitated by Ambassador Donald C.T. Lee of the Republic of China-Taipei Economic and Cultural office.

Zozobrado said the activity has strengthened not only the economic but also the social ties between the two sister cities.

She said this only proves that sisterhood agreements are not solely for economic purposes but also for strengthening people linkages between the two cities.

“The best thing about this is that even the ‘poor people’ are starting to feel the positive effects of Davao City’s sisterhood agreement with other cities like Nanning, China and Keelung, Taiwan,” she said.

Hundreds of residents of Barangay Bankerohan and nearby areas benefited from the medical mission, a proof that the city can benefit from exploring sisterhood agreements with other cities whether located in the Philippines or in other countries, she said.

Zozobrado also com-mended the efforts of the Lions Club and the doctors and nurses from the Davao Medical Center in making health care more accessible to the poor Dabawenyos.

“We are hoping that in partnership with the private sector and other private organizations like the Lions Club and the Taiwan Association there would be more free medical missions for the Dabawenyos,” she added.

Manila targets Japan’s $6.6-B wedding mart
10/10/2008 | 02:06 AM

MANILA, Philippines - By marketing the country’s top beach destinations as alternative wedding locations, the Department of Tourism said the Philippines can expect a bigger slice of the estimated $6.6-billion Japan market this year.

"The various island destinations of the Philippines are highly conducive to the beach and nature-inspired weddings that most Japanese couples are looking for," an official statement quoted Tourism Secretary Joseph H. Durano as saying.

Mr. Durano said Boracay, Cebu, Bohol and Davao can be positioned as ideal destinations for Japanese weddings.

The department estimates that as many as 450,000 Japanese couples choose to spend their nuptials abroad every year.

The department also cited a report of the Japan Tourism Board (JTB) that showed that the overseas wedding industry in Japan is now estimated at $6.6 billion yearly.

JTB said Japanese couples who hold their weddings abroad spend an average of $14,744 for the entire package. Couples spend an average of ¥566,000 for airfare and accommodations, and ¥215,000 for their wedding outfits. They spend as much as ¥791,000 for wedding ceremonies.

JTB said couples prefer island destinations like Hawaii’s Waikiki, Indonesia’s Bali, and the country’s Boracay, among others.

Three Philippine resorts offer full-service wedding packages: Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort and Spa, as well as Pulchra and Alegre Beach resorts, all in Cebu. - BusinessWorld

Nice banner!! Junax, congratulations on a job well done.

Goys, I actually went home in March for about a week and a half but mostly stayed at home and visited with friends. In July, I had meetings in Tokyo and Hong Kong so I decided to make take a side trip to Davao again, this time with my officemate who has never been to Asia.

He was so impressed with how clean and serene our city was compared to Manila (where we also spent four days to meet with some companies we wanted to outsource work to). Nung July, we flew in from HK straight to Davao on a Saturday night and on Monday morning we flew to Manila.

To Dinabaw, Dave, Junax, Peng, Xhzibit, etc. I might find myself in Davao again for the grand Ateneo alumni HC...Kung matuloy man ako - ako taya.

Bangoyan eyes boxing glory
By Charles Raymond A. Maxey

FOUR years ago, Balweg Bangoyan engaged in street brawls in his hometown Jose Abad Santos in Davao del Sur, a drunken youngster whose life was headed nowhere.

On Friday, Bangoyan, at 21 years old and using his fists the proper way, will have a shot at boxing glory and, more importantly, guarantee a bright future for himself and his family with a victory in the biggest fight of his young career.

Get updates and join Dabawenyos Kadayawan 2008 celebration

Bangoyan, called the "Davao Hitman," seeks to dethrone World Boxing Council (WBC) international super bantameight king Sande Otieno of Kenya in a 12-round championship clash at the Rizal Memorial Colleges (RMC) Gym.

And all Bangoyan needs is one big punch to do that to completely change his life for the better.

"I'm strong. I know I'm strong and If I hit him, I have the chance of winning this fight," Bangoyan told Sun.Star Davao in the vernacular.

There's no turning back for the young Bangoyan, who was in the streets of Barangay Caburan in Jose Abad Santos just several years back breaking faces and bashing heads with other drunken street brawlers.

"I remember those days, I was only 17 then. I was really drinking a lot and I had fights with other kids. I have no fear. I hit them and sometimes I also got hit," Bangoyan said.

Looking back at his past, Bangoyan could not hide his dismay of what had happened to his life and he regretted everything he did as a youngster.

"I know my folly and I regretted doing those things," said Bangoyan, who was discovered during a local boxing promotion organized by Jose Abad Santos Mayor Alexander Wangkay.

He said it was Mayor Wangkay who took him in and gave him a chance to redeem himself and live a new life by venturing into boxing.

For a boxer who packs power in both fists, it did not take long for Bangoyan to establish a name for himself in the local boxing scene. He won his first 121 fights, eight of those coming by way of knockouts.

In only in his 13th fight agaist Otieno, Bangoyan has all the chance to grab the Kenyan's WBC international super bantamweught belt.

If he comes out triumphant, Bangoyan will not only wrest the WBC crown, he will also open doors for more lucrative offers abroad and perhaps could be fighting under the bright lights of Las Vegas in his next assignment.

This is not to mention that Bangoyan now has a bright future ahead of him, a complete reversal from his grisly street-fighting days.

Google MapMaker was rolled out by Google to allow users to map places where reliable baseline maps don't exist - like Davao City. (More information in this article - "Philippine Community Tapped for Map Building", (http://www.zdnetasia.com/news/internet/0,39044908,62047019,00.htm) ZDNet.)

So I spent all afternoon yesterday mapping downtown Davao, but the changes won't go live until other Google users moderate my changes.

I'd also like to see fellow Dabawenyos add their own information on MapMaker (while I love my hometown, I haven't lived there for the past fifteen years, except for holidays). So far I add from my own memory (not so good), or steal from Wikimapia (not always very reliable).

Fellow Dabawenyos, let's build a Google Map we can be proud of! Google MapMaker can be found here: http://www.google.com/mapmaker - log in with your Gmail/Google username/password and let's go!

You can add - street names, banks, buildings, schools, government offices, airports, anything that a map should have.

You can log on yourself and add hotels, skyscrapers, new developments, streets - kaso nga lang, may magmo-moderate and not all your changes might be accepted. If that happens - ganon talaga. Just revise the entry and hope makalusot.

Galing nga e - may matyagang nag-map na ng Juna Subdivision, so kumpleto na yun. Weird na nauna pa ang Juna Subdivision kesa downtown Davao, but that's up to us Dabawenyos to correct.

Good luck!

Duterte backs water firm dam project

October 10, 2008 11:46 am by pna
DAVAO CITY, Oct. 10 — The battle over two major rivers in Davao City has tilted in favor of the Davao City Water District (DCWD) as Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte recently said he is supporting the water firm’s proposed surface water development project in Tamugan and Panigan rivers in upland Calinan district, this city.

But in the spirit of fair play, Duterte gave a week to the Aboitiz-owned Hedcor Inc. to justify its project to tap the rivers for a hydropower dam that would be located in the same area.

DCWD proposed the dam, expected to generate 220,000 cubic meters a day to supply the city with its water need, in a stretch where the rivers converge.

Hedcor however is eyeing the hydropower project in the same area in a project to backstop projected power lack in Mindanao in the next five years.

DCWD, who has been given a permit by the National Water Resources Board (NWRB), is contesting the Hedcor project, which has yet to secure a permit from the NWRB.

The water firm said the Hedcor project, upstream of the dam, would affect the water project, and has slammed a proposal by the Aboitiz firm to locate the dam downstream.

Duterte bared his position to media shortly after meeting with DCWD officials led by manager Rodora Gamboa in a local hotel.

“I am giving them (Hedcor) up to Wednesday to defend their position. When I make the final decision, one of them has to go and find another source,” the mayor said.

The local government has a crucial role to play in the Hedcor project. Its endorsement is needed before issuance of an Environmental Clearance Certificate by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and water permit by the NWRB, documents already secured by the DCWD.

DCWD finance manager and spokesperson Imelda Magsuci said the “win-win” solution proposed by Hedcor to tap the upstream hydropower to feed the DCWD dam downstream would make the gravity-powered surface water project no longer feasible.

She had also said the Panigan and Tamugan rivers are the only rivers identified by hydrology experts as potential source of water for the city.

The DCWD project is expected to ease pressure on the aquifer in Dumoy area, where the water firm pumps out an estimated 200,000 cubic meters a day. (PNA)

IMHO, this shows nga ang Davao, still had room for improvement. Here in MM, lisod kaayo makakita og greenery. Kung makakita man gud kag semento makafeel ka og slight "trespassing" for property. Everything here is so convoluted.

Kudos Davao!

Apple is an American multinational corporation with a focus on designing and manufacturing consumer electronics and software products.

The corporation DIRECTLY operates outlets in the following countries only, to wit:
United States
United Kingdom
Japan
Canada
Italy
Australia
China
Switzerland

In the Philippines, Apple products are sold by authorized distributors such as AppleCenter, AppleZone, etc. While these distributors carry the name Apple to indicate that they are Apple resellers, they are NOT owned by the Apple Corporation. There are NO Apple-owned outlets in the Philippines.

In Mindanao, ICenter and PowerHub in Davao City were the first Apple RESELLERS to open. They were subsequently followed by the opening of other Apple outlets in other areas. That some of these outlets may carry the name Apple in its tradename does not mean that they are Apple-owned stores. Again, there are NO Apple-owned outlets in the Philippines.

For those who care to know a fact.

PIA Press Release
2008/10/11

Hotel officers notice direct air linkage benefits

by Prix D Banzon

Davao City (11 October) -- An officer of a known resort in Davao disclosed the advantage of a direct air linkage as it will bring in more hotel guests.

Sly L. Maranga, sales and marketing manager of Pearl Farm Beach Resort said their foreign guests increased when the Davao-HongKong route was opened mostly from HongKong, China and from other neighboring Asian countries.

Although she said that a good number of Koreans are their regular clients.

"Our market is still those from overseas thus we come up with unique events to ensure that guests have some new things to experience and new packages to look forward," she said.

For this month she said Pearl Farm Beach Resort has launched the "October Treats for Two".

From October 2 to 12, 2008, ten rooms (Hilltop and Samal) of the resort is offered for only P5,000/room per night based on double occupancy. This includes the overnight accommodation, breakfast for two, round trip boat transfers plus priceless memories while in the island.

The Pearl Farm Beach Resort which is managed by Fuego Hotels and Properties Management Corporation she said allows the guest to pamper themselves to a relaxing and rejuvenating massage at the Ylang Ylang Spa. They can also get a thrill out of the aqua aports activities and sumptuous menu, she said.

A showcase of Mindanao pageantry is held every Tuesday night while the Pirates account their sea adventures on Friday nights.

She said the Fiestang Pinoy, a Filipino tradition will be experienced every Saturday nights. (PIA) [top]

:)

i thought powertech (owned by jva) was the first reseller of apple in davao? and they started around 1989-90.
