one more time with feelings.

here's a little reality check. these are the major projects under construction and pre-selling stages happening in davao nowadays. i'm sorry if i miss something, just add on nalang. hindi na kasali dito ang FINISHED projects like Eco4000 condos, Sales/Chimes condo, etc or shelved projects like noblesse heights... and of course hindi din kasali dito ang mga proposed projects like SM Lanang, NCCC Lanang, DDH Towers etc. Samal, Panabo, Tagum, Digos and Davao region projects too are not included, its purely Davao City.

these are pure projects that already taken off so to speak. glad to see these multi billion projects happening in the city na sabi nga ng iba, majority of the filipinos only considered davao as the 20th? place in the phil. next maybe to digos? or tagum? kahit maging 4th city lang ang davao in mindanao OK na po yan. ika nga, bad in paper but good in reality:lol:

enjoy and count the blessings now. for tomorrow is another counting day not valid right now.

whats their basis? can their city even much the magnitude of under constructions and invenstments in davao city. theyre fooling people like idiots. theyre brandinshing hotels towers like its real underconstructions. whats the truth about 10 storey thread that i could not find in any photo inside. where the 21 sotrey hotel in the thread with its own title. has anyone snapped a shot of at any stage of its construction? threads kept active by posting about nothing. apparently another high rise hotel to rise. where is the sign of construction inside it. its set to open early next year. thread activity is very much active than construction:nuts:

You're so funny sir, don't comment if you're not so sure of the real score of the project. Let's begin fo the 10 storey Gateway Tower 1. Though in the tarp only counts 8 storey but we know already ahead that the structure stands 10 floors high that's why the 10f in the title is put on. If you have doubt please see the picture below:

Gateway Tower 1 actual structure

Gateway Tower 1 with rendering
http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g283/boju4289/cdo4/gatewaytarp.jpg

About the 21 storey hotel, so what if there's a delay? And so what if we still enliven the thread with updates, issues, and comments? Paki mo… dahil inunahan mo na… clarify ko lang na kaya hinayaan nyong lumutin ang Marco Polo hotel expansion dahil wala naman talagang expansion na nangyari. Tama ba? Wala ding updates. Tama rin ba? So okay lang ba? Bakit hindi nalang burahin? Back again sa 21F hotel, very clear and vigorously LKK mgt to their vision on transforming LKK center to new CBD that’s why we are still firm in our believing and enliven the LKK hotel thread.

high rise hotels in there city are all but plans. whats the occupancy rate of their price hotel? investors would not jumped into spending bonanza aloside equally another apparently soon to rise high rise hotels? is there really much market to gamble? 3Q visitors 2008 was only 72,000 something. and that figure was even lumpe with the figures of the province to mywonder. why cant it not have its own data. and i said only bec ozamis city had 78,000 somthing and davao city had 168,000. all in the same period. whos got the market?

Are you sure of the figures you’ve shown? Link please. I think the figure you emphasize was those time during hostility in LDN. That’s really affecting so much to the tourism industry in CDO and nearby places. But as of now, its kicking again. There are a lot of visitors who experienced a hard time of finding hotel rooms but ended nothing because all hotels were fully booked. I remember one of forumer here experienced that scenario, he opt to go home in Davao even its already late at night.

excuse me boju. are you telling us about official structral design that say it is 10 storeys or you based it out of ecstasy. i dont ave the time to quote but let yourself check out the official 12 stroery render of central plaza hotel dvaao and count how many levels there actually are. and check what was the thread title.

fyi, expanion of marco polo hotel included recreation colmplex on its 4th level and its called the deck check it out. priority over the rest of the whole project. and there was no specicified dates for the rest based on earlier press releases. not like the dust of shdow of your celebrations of a tower that nobody knows when its going to exist

and check the the ncsb stat of your region theres cdo bundled in with the data of your province. check davao too if it interest you. i dont have time to do them for you. but will get back at you

sigh. In most buildings I see regarding the mezzanine, they count it as another floor. example, the elevator labeled it as mezzanine then the next floor is already labeled as 3rd floor. Ikauwaw ko ba na klaro man nga ten floors na.

Hmmnnn, one of our forumer had got the chance to talked with Lims and tackled everything about Gateway Tower 1 thats why he made that thread very sincerely. If you have doubts then wait for the further updates not just murmuring and judging without basis. Btw, the new rendering doesn't mention it as 8 storey. Please take a look again the rendering above.

Stats? hmmmnn i know and checked that a while ago. Please don't bother of the stats of Misamis Or. and CDO. Geopolitically and geophysically CDO and Misamis Or. are one. CDO is the capital of Mis. Or. sigh.

but syempre tsada paminawon ang 10 sa 8 so hala ihatag na lang gud guys :)

if sa atoa we count Central Park Hotel as 12 maski more than 12 ang floors, sa ilaha let them count all the floors na lang kay mao man makapahalipay nila

sama gud sa metrobank, 8 floors ra man na although muabot gud ug 10 "if pugson" kay naa may penthouse and machine room after the 8th floor

sama gud sa ilang "international" airport ug "international" convention center (the latter wala pa man ata official name but nagbuhat lang silag pinaka lami paminawon nga name) kung unsay pinakalami paminawon maoy dawaton :)

City Council okays P2.897B supplemental budget
Mindanao Daily Mirror
BY DIANA LHYD SUELTO

Conducting a special session yesterday just for the purpose, the City Council approved on third and final reading Supplemental Budget No. 1 amounting to P2,897,848,970.35.

The measure now only needs the signature of Mayor Rodrigo Duterte before it can be implemented.

Ninety-eight percent of the approved supplemental budget will be sourced from a loan from the Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP) amounting to P2,835,811,014.

The remaining amount comes from the reversion of the general fund proper and development fund amounting to P36,845,000, the reversion of the continuing appropriation under the development fund amounting to P4,818,019.35, and from the internal revenue allocation deferential from circular year 2001 and 2004, payable in seven installments by the national government amounting to P20,374,937.

The loan from LBP is appropriated to several programs and projects under the city’s pump-priming investment program.

The program includes the infrastructure development program amounting to P1,585,811,014, which consists of 1,002 new projects such as new buildings and other structures, road sections, drainage and water system, electrification, bridges, acquisition of engineering equipment and construction of batching plant and purchase of raw materials.

The batching plant is for the production of cement and asphalt.

Also included is phase 3 of the traffic signalization program which amounts to P705 million that will install traffic signals in 21 intersections.

The environment management program which amounts to P395 million covers the acquisition of 10 compactor trucks and sanitary landfill equipment, installation of additional facilities and equipment for People’s Park, and the improvement of the Magsaysay Park.

Another program included is the acquisition and development relocation sites under the city shelter program amounting to P100 million.

The last program included in the proposed programs and projects under the loan is the cemetery improvement and establishment of the city crematorium project costing P50 million.

The program consists of the construction of crematorium building, acquisition of cremation equipment and the construction of the columbarium.

Another program included for the appropriation of budget is the purchase of computers for the City Treasurer’s Office for its computerization program and debt servicing.

Researcher recommends Taguman as portable water source in Davao/ March 24, 2009 (http://www.goldstardailynews.com/content.php?sectionid=8&id=2177)
JOEY G. DALUMPINES
________________________________________

RESEARCHER in Davao City has recommended the Tamugan River as additional potable water source in the city following the projection that the Dumoy aquifer would deplete by the year 2011.

Dr. Edmund Prantilla, a professor and former regional director of the National Economic and Development Authority in Davao, also thus urged the local government officials to declare Tamugan River as a protected area so as to prevent its water from being contaminated.

Prantilla presented the result of his study on the vulnerability of the Talomo-Lipadas as groundwater resource and watershed during the recent Davao City Forum on Water held at the University of the Philippines-Mindanao campus.

He said that, based on the previous studies, Tamugan River possesses acceptable water quality and volume sufficient to meet the city’s future need for water.

A study conducted by the Asia-Geodyne Corporation which the Department of Environment and Natural Resources in Davao and the World Bank commissioned, cited that by 2011, the available ground water as one of the primary sources of drinking water will be equal to the utilization which is 280.5 million cubic meters a day, consequently affecting the sustainability of the city’s water source.

“Based on the evaluation of the river systems in the city, only Tamugan River has the quality that fits for the city’s future water supply,” Prantilla said.

He said with these findings, it is important for the city government to declare the watershed of Tamugan River as a protected area where no development in any form must be allowed to take place. This means that no human settlements and developments should be allowed in the area so as not to contaminate the water.

Studies show that 98 percent of the water pumps of the Davao City Water District is sourced from the Dumoy aquifer.

He said with the projected depletion of the water supply at the Dumoy aquifer in 2011, it is important for the city to decide on an alternative water source to ensure that its water needs in the future will be met.

Prantilla said even with given projection, the Lipadas-Talomo watershed areas that serve as recharged zone for the Dumoy aquifer must be preserved by planting trees on the denuded areas in Mt. Apo and to impose a no-touch policy on the Mt. Apo National Park.

He also cited the factors such as human settlements, agricultural activities and practices which affect the integrity of the Dumoy aquifer that currently supplies water to the city.

Belo opens clinic in Cebu, mulls expansion in Davao
Thursday, March 26, 2009

AFTER opening its first clinic outside Metro Manila, the Belo Medical Group now targets to open a second center in Cebu within the next six months, said its medical director Vicki Belo.

The Belo Medical Group formally opened its clinic in Cebu located at the Terraces in the Cebu Business Park last Tuesday.

Belo said the clinic, which involved a P12 million investment, will first offer non-surgical services like facial and skin care.

The second clinic, which will be located in a more private area, will house Belo Medical’s surgical services.

In a press conference during the clinic’s opening day, Belo revealed that based on sales of Belo Essentials—a facial and
skin care product managed by her daughter Cristalle Henares—sales in Davao are stronger compared to Cebu.

Slow down

But Belo said she feels more “at home” in Cebu as she was born here. She added that she already has a number of Cebuano patients who flew to Manila to avail themselves of Belo’s services.

Although Belo is also planning to expand in Davao, she said the company will have to slow down the implementation of its expansion plans as she wants to be regularly present at the Cebu clinic.

“Maybe next year, we (can open) in Davao,” she added.

Seventy percent of the group’s client base is composed of balikbayans (overseas Filipinos who visit the country) and celebrities.

Services of the Belo clinic in Cebu will have similar rates as those in Manila as Belo believes that Cebuanos are not stingy but just want to get “value for their money.”

“(This) is an interesting experiment,” she said.

Although the brand has captured the A and B markets, Belo said the company’s decision to put up clinics in the malls is meant to attract more people who want to avail themselves of the clinic’s various services.

Aside from the clinic at the Terraces, there are also Belo clinics at the Podium in Ortigas, Rustan’s Makati and Trinoma Mall in Que-zon City.

One of Belo Medical Group’s latest service offering is the Beloshape, a non-surgical liposuction that provides faster and visible results. (DME)

Malaysia’s Air Asia to fly Davao City-Kota Kinabalu route
Thursday, 26 March 2009 20:46

DAVAO CITY—Malaysia’s budget airlines is interested to service this city via Kota Kinabalu, a Filipino official of the BIMP-Eaga Business Council (BEBC) said.

Air Asia last year signified its interest to service the Davao City-Kota Kinabalu route and ask BEBC chairman Antonio Santos for help with its application in the Philippines.

“We have suggested to the airlines to fly three times a week for a start,” Santos said.

He said the airliner kept a low profile for a while “and may have probably studied its options in the middle of the global financial crisis.”

“But it has not canceled its interest to serve the route, and we would probably expect it to operate within the next three months,” Santos told a local business forum at the MediSpa Clinic in SM City here.

Kota Kinabalu is the capital of Sabah state, Malaysia, along the northwest coast of Borneo facing South China Sea. The industrial and commercial center of East Malaysia has a population of 579,304 and it is the largest urban center in Sabah, the sixth-largest in Malaysia.

It has become a crossroad in flights to known Asian destinations like Singapore and Hong Kong, and has been increasingly known for its tourism, attracting more than a million visitors annually.

Santos would not say why Air Asia has eyed Davao City for its expansion. He said the company extended the Davao City-Kota Kinabalu flight to serve longer destinations.

The new interest to service the route came as the two countries sped up bilateral transactions, including the adaption of uniform port tariff rates “in support of the incentive program for the development of air and sea transport services in the Philippines-Eaga [East Asean Growth Area].” Apart from the Philippines and Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei make up the BIMP-Eaga economic cooperation established in 1994.

Under the uniform port tariff, the two countries agreed that all ships from either country would have to pay $0.04 per gross tonnage in port dues and $0.02 as docking fee per day, or a fraction of it.

Santos said the agreement was contained in the memorandum circular of the Philippine Ports Authority “on Unilateral Application of BIMP-Eaga Uniform Port Tariff Rates for the Philippines and Malaysia.”

Aside from this bilateral agreement, the four countries also adopted incentive packages and, in the case of the Philippines, “the Civil Aeronautics Board issued a resolution granting 50-percent privileges on filing and regulatory fees for carriers operating within the designated points of BIMP-Eaga.”

The Bureau of Customs also revised its rates in paying overtime service of employees of seaports and airports under the BIMP-Eaga, Santos said.

The Philippines also revived the travel-tax exemptions to sea and air passengers from Mindanao and Palawan to any destination with the BIMP-Eaga.

“Business is brisk in the region despite the crisis. It is unlike in the Asian financial meltdown, when even the BIMP-Eaga was at a standstill,” he added.

ayaw ko sana makisawsaw sa bilangan ng floors na ito hehe pero since na quote mo yung post ko at pictures, let me answer it.

1. hindi po podium yang ground floor hehe, livable po yan, in fact parang (parang lang ha kasi base lang kasi sa picture at occular inspection itong idea ko, not coming from central park) may basement pa ang central park. why?

3. now from the 10fth floor up... ikaw na mag interpret kung ilang floors. for me it's 12 storey. period.

^^ so it's a combo of the 1st and the final plan afterall.

so the concept is "garden like" feature maybe greens sorrounding the exterior ledges and open spacesand maybe interior as well... that's why the pyramidish shaped of the structure. cool.

(DME)

SC justice tells ADDU graduates to be mindful of their civic duties
Mindanao Times
March 27, 2009

Associate Justice Antonio Carpio has urged over a thousand college graduates of Ateneo de Davao University to learn their civic duties as this will increase good governance.

Carpio, who on the March 21 commencement rites of the school, reminded the graduates on what the Filipino citizens’ civic duties are, adding that as citizens of the country they stick to the truth because there can be no good governance without the truth.

The University conferred on Carpio the Honorary Doctorate of Laws during its commencement exercises that marked the 57th year for School of Arts and Science, ninth of the School of Business and Governance, and fifth for the College of Nursing.

The conferment was in recognition of his outstanding service and record in the legal profession, in government as Chief Presidential Legal Adviser and as Associate Justice of the Supreme Court, and in private practice as a respected teacher, law practitioner and Managing Partner of a leading firm.

Carpio encouraged his fellow Ateneans to participate in the governance of the country and to participate in the forthcoming election.

Carpio was born in Davao City and studied grade school (1962) and high school (1966) at the Ateneo de Davao. He had his collegiate education at the Ateneo de Manila University (AB Major in Economics, 1970). He graduated cum laude and class valedictorian at the College Law, University of the Philippines (1975), and placed sixth at the 1975 bar examinations.

Citing the recent US election, Carpio said one emotional thing that happened in America was the participation of those who did not vote before.

“It is the duty of every Filipino to participate in the electoral process and as citizens of the country your must express your right of suffrage,” he told the graduates.

Carpio also told the graduates to be vigilant and against corruption. “Every citizen must be vigilant in order to prevent any abuses of government officials,” he said.

He also reminded the graduates to respect the fundamental rights of fellow citizens and to be fair in dealing with others.

Lastly, he told them that they are needed in the country in order to sustain development. He said with the best education given them by the Ateneo, they, too, have good ideas and can come up with solutions that could be implemented.

The Ateneo de Davao University during the same occasion conferred to Rev. Robertn C. Hogan, S.J., former chair of the Theology Division and member of the Ateneo de Davao Jesuit community, the Archbishop Clovis Thibault Award in recognition of his quiet life as a Jesuit teacher and priest, especially his unselfish concern for the poor and disadvantaged through the Daily Bread feeding program and his many personal charity works and his work in support of the Christian Life Communities.

The Philippine Catholic Lay Mission was also given the Jess and Trining Dela Paz Award in recognition of the group’s generous and dedicated participation of the Church by preparing and sending lay missionaries within and outside the Philippines to preach the Gospel and assist and serve God’s people.

Leading this year’s graduates are Trishan Krissel D. Wee, B S Nursing, valedictorian, Division and Program Awardee and Maria Ilsea W. Salvador, AB Philosophy, salutaturian, Division and Program Awardee and the Faith and Justice Awardee while James Earl S. Chew, AB Political Science, got the Leadership Award.

The other Division and Program Awardees are Lindelle Paul L. Anos, Accountancy and Management Accounting, Kristelle Brooke Dianne B. Jarabelo, Business Administration, Krystel Mae M. Labio, Computer Science, Menchie T. Egos, Engineering and Architecture, Ian DJ D. Gencianeo, Humanities, Cathy C. Carpentero, Natural Science and Mathematics and Carl Michelle T. Ong, Social Science and Education.

For his part, Fr. Antonio S. Samson, S.J., president of Ateneo de Davao, told the fresh graduates to make use of the good education given them.”

My prayers are with you that you may find suitable employment.

There will be challenges in quest for excellence but all of these you must face in the name of the Glory of God,” he said.

He also said with Ateneo de Davao already on its 60th year, they continue to strive further in order to deliver the needed education that will make the Ateneo students become “Men and Women for Others.” Prix D. Banzon, PIA 11

Granting may mezzanine yan, so hindi pala aabot ng 12 storey 'to. Another thing, sabi nyo hindi nyo kinacount yung sinabi ni @dinabaw na "bahay ng stairwyas" ei nganong nakaabot man sa 13 ang count sa pictures ng Central Park hotel below.

nganong miabot ug 13 ang count? so what? gicount namo ang actual na floors eh, pero wala mi mi claim nga its 13 or more ka storey building ni pero nag stick mi sa fact nga 12 storey building ra ni siya (since malay ba namo if mga machine room ra tung upper levels)

this is not a rule but some entirely appropriate things to consider in coming up thread titles of case projects like this that will set you free of reactions that might be rough to you.

1. if render does not indicate no. of floors, dont come up for it. it is not necessary to indicate how many. for as long as you know and confident it will make impact in your area, the thread purpose will be understood by those who will.

2. like no. 1, if theres no official number of floors indicated, dont do. let the forum readers tell you how many. until its time for you to prove which opinions are wrong with your link, credible blue print, ect to support your claim.

3. dont assume everyone is stupid to always agree with you or or you and every forumer sees things alike

here's another proof why davao is synonymous to adventure.

Wakeboarding with Sherilyn

March 25, 2009

For those looking for a new travel destination while learning a new sport, Davao City could well be your next stop! Nandito ang Deca Wakeboard Park, ang bagong venture ni Sherilyn Reyes.

http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i292/naxju/she3.jpg

First, the facts: Deca Wakeboard Park is set out to be the biggest wakeboarding park in Southeast Asia, and Sherilyn Reyes (and her family) will be the ones in charge of managing and operating it. The Wakeboard Park is located at Mintal, Davao City and is just a mere 30 minutes away from the airport.

"Deca Wakeboard Park was named after the company na nag-develop," Sherilyn says. "[The] grand opening will be in May, tapos hopefully, tangkilikin ng mga wakeboarders at ng mga gusto pang mag-wakeboard."

How did Sherilyn get into this business?

Ayon sa aktres, her family is really into wakeboarding. "Tapos itong Wakeboard Park na 'to was built as an amenity to [a] village, instead of 'yung mga golf courses."

Ngayong involved na siya dito, Sherilyn is rolling out her ideas to ensure the project’s success. "Isa sa mga plano namin ang mag-hold ng international competition. [Tapos] siguro at the end of the year, or early next year, magbubukas din [ng branch] sa Clark [Pampanga]."

She also reveals plans to build at least 20 units in time for the launch to accommodate tourists and wakeboard enthusiasts who may opt to stay the night at the park.

Wakeboarding sounds fun. Malay mo, si Sherilyn pa mismo ang magturo sa inyo!

Sherilyn Reyes appears every weeknight sa GMA Telebabad in Carlo J. Caparas's Ang Babaeng Hinugot sa Aking Tadyang.

Vibrant condo living in style and convenience

There is a growth spurt north of the city. In the northern fringe of Davao’s economic hub will soon rise integrated mixed-use developments, IT parks, modern commercial and business centers, and plush residential areas.

As these developments boost Davao’s standing as a fast emerging economic and commercial destination, it’s high time for those who want to move up their lifestyle to locate right where the action is. What better way to do that than to take residence right smack within this vital and vibrant environment by living in a modern condominium with complete first-class amenities that make your living grand.

Condo living gives you the best home environment within a bustling city throbbing with business and commerce. Here are the many advantages of condo living in our growing and promising city.

Prime Location

Condominiums are normally located proximate to the most thriving parts of the city where business and commercial areas, shopping and recreation centres, and communication and transportation facilities abound. With all the modern conveniences you need within walking distance or simply a short drive or ride away, condo living allows you to live the kind of lifestyle you want.

Condo living is a symbol of real city living, enabling you to enjoy your life while working and living within the core of all the action and development. It also allows you to locate in the most attractive sites in thriving down-town areas, offering privileged views from your condo unit not accessible to all.

First–class Amenities

Condominiums come with a complete set of amenities necessary for convenient, modern living, such as a multi-purpose clubhouse, swimming pool, playgrounds, cabanas with grill pits, pocket parks, overhead water tank, garbage collection facilities, sewer treatment plant, emergency generator for amenities, perimeter fence, among many others.

Reliable Round-the-clock Security

You’ll never have to worry about leaving your condo unit empty for a short or extended period. Condos are equipped with state-of-the-art security systems, gadgets, and concierge staff that keep not only your condo unit safe, but the whole condo complex and the gatehouse as well. In addition, safety in number is real: with nearby neighbors around almost all day, it’s easy to lock up and leave.

Maintenance-free

Living in a condo unit saves you from the laborious and expensive exterior maintenance of the property. No more mowing or cutting grass, roof repairs, plumbing problems, and many other time-consuming and tiring maintenance activities to maintain the upkeep of the property, as all these are done for you.

Unfailing Sound Investment

As its market value appreciates, a condo unit’s potential resale value increases, bolstered by its location where land is at a premium, and the steady mainte-nance of its upkeep. With renting an apartment, your money is gone the moment you pay, with nothing to show for in the future.

Condominiums are also a wise choice for those buying their first affordable home for themselves or for a small family. It is also good for active “empty-nesters” and those whose family size has reduced and don’t need a bigger space.

Exciting Community Living

Condo living gives you an enticing social environment that comes with being part of a unique close-knit community, allowing you to meet new and exciting people and enabling you to enjoy community life.

Lifestyle of Joy and Freedom

Condo living is synonymous to freedom: freedom to come, go, and do what you enjoy most. With comprehensive recreational facilities within your reach, and the worry of maintenance, repairs, and security out of your hands, you can enjoy the ultimate lifestyle. Shop, dine, swim at the pool, play at the ball courts, frolic at the playgrounds and gardens, entertain your friends and family, or simply wind down at your condo and take in the breathtaking vista beyond your windows.

A condo is more than just a home; it is the freedom to live your life to the fullest. To come a step closer to living this exceptional lifestyle, come to the Camella Communities Davao Buyer’s Day today, March 28, at the Karpentrade Bldg., McArthur Highway, Matina (tel. 298-0387 and 298-0300), and find out what’s chilling up at north of Davao.

UM-Davao tossers Boracay-bound

By Charles Raymond A. Maxey

TAGUM CITY -- Spikers from the University of Mindanao-Davao hacked out contrasting victories Saturday in the Mindanao leg of the 13th Nestea Fit Beach Volley National Circuit to assure themselves of a trip to sunny Boracay in May.

UM-Davao's Janice Arnaiz and Jennifer Conde turned back Holy Cross of Davao College's Mykah Ramos and Aiza Armacion in straight sets, 21-17, 21-16, to advance to the finals in the women's division at the Rotary Park Beach Volley Drome.

The 22-year-old Arnaiz, a fourth year student taking up Commerce with a major in management, is playing in her fourth Nestea beach volleyball championship where she gained semifinals and finals appearance to Boracay each time with different partners.

"I'm happy to be playing again in Boracay," Arnaiz said.

Then, less than an hour later, UM-Davao's Galileo Mascardo V and Paul John Saraga came from behind to stun Mahardika Institute of Technology's Mursaid Hadjirul and Mohammad Ali Maih, 18-21, 21-18, 16-14, to also reach the finals in the men's division.

This was the first time that Mascardo and Saraga are playing together yet they played cohesive ball in stopping the big-spiking due from Tawi-Tawi.

"We were really praying to win. Thank God we won the match," said Mascardo, who is seeing action in the Nestea beach volleyball tournament for the first time.

"We played hard and we were able to adjust from their aggressive play," added the 20-year-old Mascardo, a criminology student.

Saraga said he debuted in the Nestea event last year but his partnership with Serwin Dave Castillo produced only a fifth-place finish.

Now, he is looking forward to playing in Boracay for the first time. "I'm really happy that we won. We were up against a strong team but we beat them," said the 19-year-old Saraga in Filipino.

Also gaining a trip to Boracay is the tandem of Lourdilyn Catubag and Jestine Carla Gonzales of the University of Mindanao-Tagum.

Catubag and Gonzales beat Lina Gampong and Adawia Gonzales, 17-21, 21-21, 15-12, in the other semifinal match. Catubag and Gonzales were to play Arnaiz and Conde in the finals scheduled in the afternoon.

Only the top three teams both in the women's and men's divisions will earn trips to the Boracay stage from May 6-9.

This year's sponsors are Ipanema, Speedo, Parkmall in Mandaue City, Cebu, L' Oreal Paris Elseve, Nautilus by PJ Aranador, Mikasa, D' Mall D' Boracay, Tagum Beach Vollley Drome at Rotary Park, Hey! Jude Resort, Boracay Mandarin Island Hotel, La Carmela de Boracay Resort Hotel and Crystal Sand Beach Resort.

A TOTAL of 209 athletes will represent the Davao Region to the National Prisaa (Private Schools Athletic Association) Championships set on April 19 to 25 in Naga City.

Davao Region Prisaa executive director Joaquin "Boy" Sarabia furnished Sun.Star Davao on Friday with the roster of athletes bound for the Naga finals.

Davao Region Prisaa president Pedro San Jose spearheaded the finalization of the delegation line-up during a board meeting held recently.

Davao, which usually ranks among the top three regions in the over-all standing during past nationals, is seeing action in men's and women's basketball, men's and women's chess, men's and women's lawn tennis, men's soccer, men's sepak takraw, men's and women's badminton, men's and women's table tennis, women's softball, men's and women's taekwondo, men's and women's swimming, men's and women's track and field and men's and women's volleyball.

UM Tagum's Anna Marie Teńajora and Jerryl Rondez will compete in the Search for the National Prisaa Mutya and vocal solo competitions, respectively.

While the main bulk of the region's delegates come from the University of Mindanao main campus, the rest are varsity mainstays from UM Tagum, Rizal Memorial Colleges, San Pedro College, Ateneo de Davao University, UM Digos, Holy Cross of Davao College, Agro-Industrial Foundation College, Brokenshire College, Davao Doctors College, DMMA College of Southern Philippines, Cor Jesu College, University of the Immaculate Conception and San Pedro College.

In a recent delegation briefing at the UM Matina Gym, Sarabia bared that they will depart on April 15 via a convoy of buses. (MLSA)

^^ Being concerned about the environment is very good, but be discerning when politics ride on it. They, especially during the Bush administration didn't tell the real score. Contrary to what they've been preaching, Global Warming may be a natural phenomenon relative to the cycle of the Sun and had been going on at intervals for centuries, with scientists explaining it was more due to the solar flares.

The possibility of the politics behind it are for those gripping in power to attempt to monopolize alternative energy sources other than the fossil fuels that they even hyped terror threats with the use of media puppetry and manipulated wars. It will also attempt to grip developing nations' acceleration towards industrialization by controlling its energy needs.

With or without global warming, people should always be concerned with the environment, but at the same time magbantay on any manipulation by those not really concerned with humanity's interest but for their global greed.

here's another proof why davao is synonymous to adventure.

Caparas's Ang Babaeng Hinugot sa Aking Tadyang.

intriguing ang 60 logo sa Earth Hour, prominent sa map ang areas with '3rd world' or developing countries pero wala dinha ang mga continents with highly industrialized countries that should be the major target of the global warming agenda supposedly caused by industrial pollution.

It may be subtle, but the subliminal (mis)message is intriguing. It is not something that to be taken for granted as it will be drummed up time and time again by repetitive ads to the psyche of the masses, in attempt to condition the gullible that the lesser countries would pay the brunt instead of those from highly industrialized countries that ironically are major sources of global pollution. The places on the Earth Hour logo should also make another version with countries in continents that are major contributors of ozone depleting emissions, that's fair enough.

Tour of city's Chinese temples

By Rudolph Ian Alama

DURING this year's celebration of Chinese New Year, a Chinese temple tour was initiated by the officers of the Davao Chinatown Development Council and joined by City Government officials led by City Legal Officer Melchor Quitain and former councilor Emmanuel Galicia, who cosponsored the Chinatown resolution.

Also with the group are some members of the media and photography enthusiasts.

First stop was Santiago Temple in front of Gaisano Mall of Davao. This temple used to be seen on JP Laurel Avenue until a building was built in front of it.

Now it is completely hidden from view, accessible only by a narrow street alley, the temple visited by the devotees of Kuan Kong, a Chinese general who lived during 200 A.D. in the time of the three Kingdoms of China who became known as the Chinese God of War.

Kuan Kong or Santiago temple is the oldest Chinese temple in Davao, built in 1957 by the local Chinese community who associate Kuan Kong as the great protector particularly of the business people. In China the deity, through his protective influences, is also regarded as the symbol of wealth and prosperity.

The group then proceeded to Mindanao Taoist Temple in the middle of RGA Village, between Dakudao and Cabaguio avenues. The temple with its tall red brick pagoda is a perfect example of feng shui architecture particular with its octagonal shaped structure.

A noted example of the synergism of the beliefs of Chinese-Filipinos can be found in the images on display at the temple.

Alongside images of Lao Tzu is the image of Jesus Christ who is also revered by Taoists.

The Mindanao Taoist Temple used to be the highest structure around the Cabaguio-Dacudao area. But just like Kuan Kong Temple, developments like taller buildings and other huge structures have hidden these temples from view and also from memory of many Dabawenyos who once treated these temples as landmarks.

Afterwards, we proceeded to Long Hua Temple also on Cabaguio. The Buddhist temple is the biggest and the most popular temple in Davao City.

It is home to kung fu monks and a school (Sakya Academy) various Chinese (Taiwanese) tourists and migrants visit this place to worship and pay respect.

Long Hua, which means Temple of the Dragon, features several images and intricate wood carvings of Buddha. One of the biggest temples in Mindanao, it hopes to be the window of Davao Chinatown to the community, one that highlights the unique culture and tradition of the Filipino-Chinese brethren.

I believe the politics behind it is the cunning attempt to again monopolize crucial alternative energy sources by those that had established monopoly over conventional fossil fuel. they had the obvious tools through media puppetry that they had even used to dupe people into the oil wars and even terror hype orchestrated to corner strategic oil pipelines (Afghanistan) and oil supply (Iraq) but at the expense of human lives. Now they're implementing the ridiculous notion to manipulate people's sentiments yet suppress developing countries like ours that actually have the talent and skill to create clean and alternative fuel sources even using water for fuel, but the IMF-WB prohibited the country from creating such technologies as with the dilemma of Damian Dingle, the water fuel inventor that even their minions attempted to humiliate.

It can also be used to grip developing countries like ours that otherwise must need to accelerate their economy, yet their agenda may unwittingly limit us the inevitable demand for more power consumption, obviously to further their selfish agenda at the expense of lesser countries that these sinister powers intend to keep as such.

People should be more discerning in perceiving beyond the shallow surface they claim to wrap as fact, heck even the major cause of global warming was a natural phenomenon of the Sun's solar cycle.

TAGUM CITY -- Janice Arnaiz and Jennifer Conde of the University of Mindanao (UM)-Davao completed an amazing run in the Mindanao leg of the Nestea Fit Beach Volley National Circuit with an impressive 21-16, 21-11 victory over Lourdilyn Catubag and Jestine Gonzales of UM-Tagum in the finals Saturday afternoon at the Tagum Beach Volley Drome here.

Arnaiz and Conde, playing together for the first time, topped the women's division and advanced to the Boracay stage scheduled from May 7 to 9.

Another pair from Davao City -- Mykah Ramos and Aiza Armacion of the Holy Cross of Davao College -- secured a trip to the summer destination by salvaging third place via a hard-earned 14-21, 21-19, 15-10 win over Lina Gampong and Adawia Sabal of the Mindanao State University (MSU)-Tawi Tawi.

Ramos and Armacio earlier dropped their semifinal match against Arnaiz and Conde.

Finishing 1-2-3 in the men's division are the MSU-Tawi Tawi, UM-Davao, and Mahardika Institute of Technology (MIT).

The top three men's teams in Mindanao last year -- Capitol U, University of Mindanao-Tagum and Holy Cross of Davao College -- were eliminated.

Mohammad Asakil and Halim Khan of MSU-Tawi Tawi beat Paul Saraga and Galileo Mascardo of UM-Davao in the men's finals, 21-8, 21-17.

Mursaid Hadjirul and Mohammad Ali Maih of MIT, meanwhile, summoned all their strength to beat Allen Sales and Dionesio Garcia Jr. in a heart-stopping marathon battle for third, 27-25, 20-22, 22-20.

Luzon teams advancing to Boracay after going through elims at the Mall of Asia are FEU, Letran, and San Beda in the men's side, and Adamson, FEU, and the University of the Cordilleras in the women's side.

The Visayas elims are set April 16 to 18 at Parkmall in Mandaue City in Cebu. Last year's champions, Foundation University (men) and Southwestern University (women) hail from the Visayas, making it the region to beat.

The champion teams in Boracay will earn P100,000 each.

This year's sponsors are Ipanema, Speedo, Parkmall in Mandaue City, Cebu, L'Oreal Paris Elseve, Nautilus by PJ Arańador, Mikasa, D'Mall D'Boracay, Tagum Beach Volley Drome at Rotary Park, Hey! Jude Resort, Boracay Mandarin Island Hotel, La Carmela de Boracay Resort Hotel, and Crystal Sand Beach Resort.

THE Sports for Peace (SFP) Mindanao Inc. chaired by William "Butch" Ramirez will hold a basketball tryout starting Monday in his effort to form a team for the Arafura Games set in May and for future competitions.

The tryout is open to players under 25 years old and will be staged at the University of Mindanao (UM) Matina campus gymnasium.

Ramirez said he is looking for four centers, four forwards, and four guards to complete the team that will see action in the Arafura Games scheduled in Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia from May 9 to 17.

Ramirez said they are looking for young dribblers who possess the needed character of a player fit to represent Davao City.

He added that he and coaches Cholo Elegino of the Ateneo de Davao University and Roderick Conda of the University of Mindanao will be handling the under 25 years old team.

"I will be on top of it," Ramirez said. (CRAM)

that we could only speculate until facts are established. "monopoly ofalternative energy" is only a gripe that media is cashing in to keep people divided. i dont totally believe there is monopoly by (if you alluded to) rich developed countries' corporate giants of the world. spain for example has the technology to develop wind energy and supply wind turbines for its clients. just as third world china can do.

It can also be used to grip developing countries like ours that otherwise must need to accelerate their economy, yet their agenda may unwittingly limit us the inevitable demand for more power consumption, obviously to further their selfish agenda at the expense of lesser countries that these sinister powers intend to keep as such.
there will always be dictating and those that do not work hard to get out of being dictated as there is donor and donee in the world. but those who whined should also look into the economic success stories of countries that were once in their shoes. how they staged their fight to overcome road blocks and bring about economic prosperity

People should be more discerning in perceiving beyond the shallow surface they claim to wrap as fact, heck even the major cause of global warming was a natural phenomenon of the Sun's solar cycle.
apparently researchers have agreed that the natural phenomenon has lesser effect on global warming as compared to human activities-derived greenhouse gas emmissions

Public works department rushes 22 road projects in Davao Region

DAVAO CITY — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will rush 22 road projects here as part of the government’s plan to frontload 60% of infrastructure projects in the first six months of the year to generate jobs.

Lorna T. Ricardo, officer-in-charge of the DPWH Davao District Office, said in an interview that an estimated 1,000 new jobs will be generated out of the P326 million budget to pave, rehabilitate, and construct roads in the city in the first half of the year. Local contractors will be given top priority in these projects.

"Though we could not really prevent contractors from Manila to bid [sic], it’s more practical to use local contractors because these are not really big projects," Ms. Ricardo explained.

Based on the department’s estimates, P40 million is usually spent for each kilometer of road, which already includes the drainage system.

She said hiring of engineers, machine operators, masons, and laborers will be left to the discretion of the contractors.

Among the bigger projects are the rehabilitation and expansion of the Davao-Agusan Highway, Davao-Cotabato diversion road, and the roads passing Licanan, Lasang and Ma-a districts.

Ms. Ricardo said they have to rush the implementation of the projects since they are given just one month to spend the budget after receiving the notice of cash allocation from the Department of Budget and Management, or else the fund will be returned to the treasury.

Data released by the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) show DPWH has committed to frontload P2.176 billion for the first semester of the year in the Davao Region, representing about 60% of the P3.628-billion budget the department has allocated this year for roads, bridges and ports in the region.

Maria Lourdes D. Lim, NEDA regional director, said the amount to be infused in the region’s economy this year is a leap from last year’s 494 projects with total worth of just P1.1 billion.

"About 82% of big projects were for roads and bridges, while 8% were for port development and reconstruction," Ms. Lourdes said.

Budget Secretary Rolando Andaya in an economic briefing here last week, took the DPWH to task for its poor use of allocated funds.

Citing the national expenditures program as basis, Mr. Andaya said the Public Works department had an absorptive capacity of just 76.6% in 2007, followed by Department of Agriculture with 82.6% and the Department of Transportation and Communications with 82.6%, all below the national average of 92.8%. — Joel B. Mindanao's first sports and country club opens in Davao
By Mai Gevera

Davao City (31 March) -- Davao City sets another first in coming up with a fully-equipped country club with different sports facilities for each member of the family.

Rancho Palos Verdes Country Club, a 60-hectare project developed by the Sta. Lucia Realty and Development Inc., is soon to open and boost tourism in the city.

It is Spanish Mediterranean themed and designed by the country's well-known architects of WV Coscuella and Associates. The clubhouse is located inside Davao Riverfront Corporate City in Ma-a Diversion Road.

Local partner of SLRDI and at the same time Presidential Adviser on Special Projects Madeline Marfori said that this development signals another boost for local tourism.

" This only shows that Davao has so much to offer and that in this time of crisis, Philippines is the perfect place to invest on.", she said.

The country club offers unlimited use of a uniquely designed beach type swimming pool, sports facilities like indoor basketball court, tennis court, and badminton court. It also has other amenities like billiard hall, fitness gym, fine dining restaurant, function hall, and 8-lane 10-pin bowling alley.

The country club is intentionally built for exclusive members and families of the Rancho Palos Verdes Golf Club, however, Marfori said that they are opening the place to non-members for 3 to 6 months.

"We want Davaoenos to also try and experience the facility.", she said.

SLRDI also announced that it is planning to put up a condominium within the Riverfront Corporate City where a school, a residential area, and the sports and country club have already been situated.

SLRDI and the Dizon Family has envisioned this corporate city as a community where all the needed establishments are all located in one area. (PIA XI) [top]

Israeli Sea Officers’ Union: Zim has ten containerships laid up
Mar 30, 2009

The ships, of about TEU 4,000 or TEU 4,500, are expected to spend up to six months at anchor, by which time the world trade picture should be clearer

Avi Levy, Chairman of Israeli Sea Officers’ Union, said last week that Zim Integrated Shipping Services has laid up ten containerships in the TEU 4,000 capacity in the Philippines. “There are ten Zim ships laid up in the Philppines. All of them are containerships of the class of about TEU 4,000 or TEU 4,500”.

Following the decision to lay the ships 70 shore-based jobs were to go and an early retirement deal for around two dozen officers was being discussed.

It is understood that Zim has plans to anchor 10 containerships intotal in the Philippine port of Davao. Three of Zim's ships are already laid up in Malalag Bay, near Davao, along with 17 other ships from other companies, and there are no more berths there. The ships are expected to spend up to six months at anchor, by which time the world trade picture should be clearer.

The Philippine port authorities charge $91 per day for small container ships and $104 per day for the huge ships.

Duterte tells CHR: Prove death squad

Mayor, De Lima clash at hearing

.......

Sarcasm at times marred the nearly hour-long exchange between Duterte and De Lima, who on occasions reacted to the mayor’s statements with surprise or a heavy sigh.

At one point, when asked by De Lima what he must do if he hypothetically came face to face with the leader of the so-called death squad, Duterte said: “I will arrest him. And if he resists violently, I will have to shoot him … It’s not summary killing; it’s self-defense.”

Then, as though talking to the “DDS chief,” Duterte said: “I will kill you. I will shoot you. It’s been eating (into) my system and I have been asked to answer all these questions. I will shoot you in public then I will go to the police and I will go to prison.”

De Lima uttered: “Amazing.”

"monopoly ofalternative energy" is only a gripe that media is cashing in to keep people divided.

actually media puppetry is not saying it that way. being divided is not the issue, most will agree when it comes to environmental protection, the issue is when ulterior agendas ride on it to the point it misleads the hoardes.

I dont totally believe there is monopoly by (if you alluded to) rich developed countries' corporate giants of the world. spain for example has the technology to develop wind energy and supply wind turbines for its clients. just as third world china can do.

it's not even about the countries, you need to probe deeper as it extends beyond that and yet the consequences are evident, the concern is that the sinister force that caused much offense against humanity for its global greed even to the point of inducing wars and conflicts around the world and trespassing over countries' boundaries just for the control of energy sources especially fossil fuels for selfish agenda rather than for general benefit of humanity, are the same sinister force behind the attempt to take control of alternative energy sources that this planet needs, and must not be handed to them otherwise the vicious cycle merely continues, and such corruption definitely have the means and resources to play on sentiments and manipulate opinions even in a subtle way and at a global scale.

apparently researchers have agreed that the natural phenomenon has lesser effect on global warming as compared to human activities-derived greenhouse gas emmissions

It's actually the other way around, such perspective that contradicts the actual reality of global warming may have been their handiwork that misled your information. listen to the actual scientists themselves in their raw standpoint based on hard science, rather than synthesized politicized version and media puppetry.

but those who whined should also look into the economic success stories of countries that were once in their shoes. how they staged their fight to overcome road blocks and bring about economic prosperity

you ended up seeing only the other side of the coin, look at the stark reality when at the complex consequences the other side resulted with suppressive manipulation to keep the other countries heavily burdened and even supressed of its growth (note media puppetry on Mindanao's image, CIA supported dictatorship of Marcos regime, the CIA terrorist Michael Meiring, its far more complex than just mere superficial surface), and this includes our very own.

Para hindi OT: If people are sincere everyone must support CLEAN and GREEN alternative energy sources that their sinister force attempt to divert attention by making a global media circus to claim they had the answer when in fact they were the ones supressing it. Technologies such as electric cars must ply major routes of the city rather than supressed only to private roads as manipulated by ridiculous ordinances that they dictated to gripped countries like ours. What the IMF-WB did at prohibiting this country from developing alternative energy sources such as water for car fuel, is llegal and supressive. People should be made aware that alternative, clean, even "FREE" energy do exist that could easily outstrip the grip of the global gluttons against Humanity. Mayor Duterte must have been defying such especially with alternative energy sources with the use of electric tricycles in Davao, and not surprisingly the minions although used in subtle way its puppeteers through entrenched idiots, are ganging by seeking for loopholes against him, as with the present issue he's facing with. It is ironic that the global issue of their so called Earth Hour (with "3rd world" countries prominent in their logo for obvious manipulation against them),the national CHR (kani sila concern kunohay sa human rights sa mga suspected criminal pero wala man gani nag-voice out sa mga biktima, what manipulated stupidity), and the local electric tehnologies plying the city's routes contrary to ridiculously manipulated steet ordinances to the country, coincided and when probed deeper may even be intricately linked. The sinister complex link is far more complex and entrenched, even using gullible puppetry to the unaware. Be more aware then.

(PIA XI) [top]

the issues can be complex and broad but am trying to to present it in a sort of compressed way. Personally these ideas did not come to me in a matter of few days but had been dissecting it with years of personal research and also with exchange of ideas through the internet though they're not necessarily from locals. the patterns and links tend to intriguingly correlate amidst the extensive sources of information (I don't rely solely on puppet corporate media esp. with US based ones like CNN, Fox etc.). however you also have a point with the issues that you expressed concern with. the point also is there are many sides in every issue, and these we must also be aware and discerning rather than sticking only to one side. Awareness to various aspects of these issues is necessary and to be kept vigilant of any attempt to manipulate merely because people were made unaware of other things and perspectives. As you implied, it has to be 'two way'.

Para dili OT: What's really the stand of that CHR thing with de Lima, one havent even heard from them talking about the rights of the criminals' victims and the main problem of ineptness and corruption of the justice system so blatantly evident in this country, while the real culprits (just like the global criminals manipulating wars and conflicts against humanity's rights for selfish agendas) are not being discussed instead, amusing.

the inquiry looks like a trial spectacle of deliberate fault-pointing using “competent media” for a jury which appeared like aggrieved panel members wrongly selected in random. the danger of the outcome of this public inquiry will leave public to convict a person guilty by publicity bec of sown hate and anger created by the media. its not the seasoned media imo, who can deliver accurate impartiality on sensitive issues. and surprisingly chr body is using them to wank and pride themselves like super bodies. i am not for indiscrimately allowing just anyone with no reputable records of experience to cover the inquiry. they appeared to have no sense of giving out infos that is judiciously responsible with clear stance for the storys credibility. i always thought philippines media culture of practice is whats keeping the philippines not a interesting country by the name itself. it ruining the country to its self destruction and demise. i dont see philippines woill ever advance economically. its just getting nowhere. no most popular, most credible, most brilliant, well loved president, with a magnanimous mandate would ever succeed pulling the country out of heinous poverty in its term of office, is my logical opinion. bec as soon as it survives the honeymoon period in office, he is bound to follow the same fate of predecessors, succumbed to destruction of concerted team effort by media, oppositionists and their equally greedy allies fighting for his legitamacy in office. the economic faltering cycle will continue to depprive the philippines of respect and to get at pace with rising economies of neighbours. it will one day wake up its east timor has become a major donor country for its aid.

Duterte tells CHR: Prove death squad

Mayor, De Lima clash at hearing

It's really about time davaoenos look for a higher standard of leadership. While he has contributed to Davao's peace and order, naiwanan na siya ng panahon. Davao should be catching up with Cebu but with this type of simplistic approach to administration and convinient regard for the application of law, choosing at his pleasure when to abide by it or not, the political body can not mature and move forward. It's just as well he can not run anymore. At this point GMA is after him after his break with her and Boy Nogi has him (or more accurately his position ) in his sights. Because of his dramatic flair for politics the city itself suffers from the lack of release of it's IRA (of course the GMA administration is just as culpable for playing politics). Anyway all this may be moot as it becomes the Sara vs. Nogi show. Interesting to see if he will win in District 1 as congressman.

^^ he's not from Davao and has no idea about the complex viewpoints here that would only take a local Dabawenyo to comprehend.

I find the CHR officer's stand on the issue as narrowminded and biased to only on certain issues and in fact did not even tackle the more pressing causes that hound the country's criminality problems. Her stand merely reminded of the ineptness of the country's ability to deal with rampant criminality especially in other areas outside Davao where citizens continually live in fear from the criminals. Here it's the other way around, it's the criminals living in fear from the citizens. Besides there's not even lawlessness pervading, compared to other cities in the country Davao tend to be more disciplined and had better facilities to deal with the criminal problem such as Asia's only 911. over here one's very own cellphone is even empowered to deter crimes.

You might have noticed that we, in this thread have tried as much to veer away from talking/discussing about politics. Apart from it being divisive in nature, it is already very murky and chaotic to dip our hands into. So, in the spirit of peace and harmony, might as well observe the same attitude the majority of Davaoenos manifest in this thread.

such issues regarding the city's concerns must be tackled rather than escape from it, as long as the main agenda and intent is for the betterment of the city in general. refusal to view otherwise complex issues as undeniable part of living in this place may be tantamount to mediocrity in mindset and may not be the solution.

There is always a proper and more appropriate venue to debate on who's the better public servant in Davao and pretty obviously, it's not this forum. There are far more pressing issues related to promoting Davao to the world than creating this into a politcal forum. The world is watching and people are sick of unsavory issues related with politics. So for the sanity of this thread, enough with politics.

^^ that's the very issue I'm dealing with previously, delete the (international) political manipulation from the Earth Hour agenda and face the issue square on. In the local level, those concerned should support clean and green technologies (some even created by local inventors), question the IMF-WB illegal political agenda of prohibiting the country from pursuing such technologies, and dump the political manipulation that attempt to supress it, like the ridiculous rule disallowing electric vehicles from plying major street roads, especially here in Davao.

be weary when so called proponents for global warming politics could be the same perpetrators (not referring specificaly to any country, it's deeper than that) of global pollution and supressors of alternative clean technologies.with or without global warming politics, enviromental concerns must be crucially addressed that must benefit all humanity for the sake of as you said, planetary "peace and harmony," rather than merely be like sheeples to the whims of those politicaly manipulating it for selfish agenda at the expense of 'lesser' countries like ours.

Dev't council okays P27.3B investment programs
By Joy Romares-Sevilla

A P27.3 BILLION worth of public investment programs and projects for Davao Region was approved by the Regional Development Council (RDC) Southern Mindanao during its first quarter meeting last week.

RDC vice-chair Maria Lourdes Lim, who is also the regional director of the National Economic Development Authority (Neda) in the region, bared this saying these investment programs are covered by the proposed Annual Investment Program (AIP) for 2010.

In a press statement, Lim said the infrastructure sector shares the biggest bulk of the total public investment project, amounting to P16.7 billion, in which the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and the Department of Energy (DOE) are the implementing agencies.

Lim said this is followed by the economic sector with P5.1 billion or 19 percent of the total project cost, with the Department of Agriculture (DA) proposing P3.5 billion.

The social sector, on the other hand, accounted for P4.6 billion, while governance agencies submitted P0.9 billion worth of programs and projects.

"By project location, Davao City is expected to receive 33 percent of the investments programs," Lim said.

Lim said that RDC also approved the project concept for the proposed Mindanao Cancer Center at the Davao Regional Hospital in Tagum City, which is seen to cater to cancer diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation needs not only of the region's population but also for the whole of Mindanao.

"We also discussed and approved the benchmarking process for the 2009-2010 implementation of the Davao Regional Development Plan. The Davao Region Tourism Plan and the Philippine Economic Resiliency Plan and its Davao Region component were also discussed during the meeting," she said.

Here's a clue, Damian Dingle, the water fuel inventor revealed during interview that the IMF-WB prohibited the government from pursuing such kinds of technology and this is contemptous and manipulated by alien interests, bantug ra.

We're not lacking in talents, I remembered there was even a local inventor who created what could be the smallest welding machine in the world, pero asa na man karon kulang siguro sa support and funding sa natl government (and even Filipino society itself and its tendency for mediocrity and envious crab mentality), gapareha ra sa pagka-inutil sa CHR nga wala natumong ang priorities. gibawalan na pud siguro sa IMF-WB

I recently watched the local news, ang CHR commisioner murag spokesperson sa mga pusher gigisa mga pulis asa na kuno ang mga naa sa watchlist.

^^ if im not mistaken that's a tech capitalizing from a simple "hydrolysis" which is already known to the scientific world since the 17th century... although the car may be "green", it still is not viable and sustainable considering that it (the process) still consumes enormous amount of fossil fuel to split h from 02... a similar project has been abandoned by audi of germany :)

Dingle had a trade secret in which he'd rather not divulge (because of it the minions branded his invention a hoax although the real culprits are IMF-WB supression), because as shown in the vid even when the water is still in its liquid state his invention already produced energy, thus making it less volatile and dangerous than hydrogen fuel cells. hydrolysis seems conventional to compare with his. the amusing thing is its waste product is also water. he probably outsmarted the germans.

It doesn't look like the same since the inventor insisted that there's no fossil fuel involved in the splitting of the hydrogen and O2 but only a small current from a normal lead acid battery.

He wouldn't reveal though how he did it citing his distrust on the foreigners who looked at his invention.

Pinagtaka ko lang bakit 'di siya gumawa ng marami and sell it to his friends or whoever he trusted.

why should we be critical of him when he definitely did better with that field than the rest of us? maybe he could do better if he's vietnamese, noh? :hahano:

well, anyway in america his water fuel co-inventor didn't fare better either, they poisoned him.

Dev't council okays P27.3B investment programs
Tuesday, March 31, 2009

The Davao Region Tourism Plan and the Philippine Economic Resiliency Plan and its Davao Region component were also discussed during the meeting," she said.

kumusta na kaha ang inastaran sa commission on criminal rights, este human rights

did they tackle also the human rights of the victims? kung wala gani and they just focused on singling out the mayor in the duration of their stay here, and didn't even represent the rights of the victims of crimes itself other than the rights of criminals (tao din naman ang mga biktima hindi ba CHR?), then inutil ang ginampanan ng chair and dapat palitan.

Japanese heritage site to be set up in Mintal

THE Davao City government is planning to set up a Japanese heritage site in Mintal, Tugbok district in recognition of the historical bonds between the people of Japan and Davao.

"Mintal was known as "Little Tokyo" during the World War II. Barangay Mintal will construct a Japanese-themed park, then we will reconstruct Japanese relic sites in the barangay," said Councilor Rachel Zozobrado, chair of the City Council committee on international relations..

Zozobrado said the project, if pushes through, is expected to be completed and launched in August, the time when most Japanese tourists visit the city.

"With city tourism, a barangay tourism council will be established, patterned after the Japanese Heritage declaration. This will hopefully make Mintal another tourist destination," Zozobrado said.

The plans for the development of the Japanese heritage site came after the recent Chinese New Year Festival and the initiative of the Dabawenyo Tsinoys to build four arches in the city's Chinatown area. (Grace L. Plata)
