I can recall too pisot pa ko naay mga coconut trees naa sa dagat medyo tingala gani ko ngano nag tanum sila sa dagat ug lubi.:bash: Thanini October 13th, 2011, 01:46 AM dugay naman naa ang queensland nganha, pangutan-i daw imong ginikanan dong... basig sperm pa ka katong pag-agi nimo dinha sa una :bash:  :jk: kabuang! nbrDVO October 13th, 2011, 03:04 AM @nbrDVO.... alam mo na ang dapat gawin sa picture na ito... yes... i photoshop mo na ang addu community center kasama ng picture na yan   http://i605.photobucket.com/albums/tt139/nbrDVO/freedom_park.jpg  scarletwitch.wanda October 13th, 2011, 03:44 AM http://i605.photobucket.com/albums/tt139/nbrDVO/freedom_park.jpg  :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol: :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol: The best photoshop ever! reancorbz84 October 13th, 2011, 03:55 AM SOON TO OPEN IN DAVAO?? http://ph.openrice.com/UserPhoto/photo/0/8B/001N5G22B8F4176E92AC80m.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j187/tonioboi/cafefrance.jpg reancorbz84 October 13th, 2011, 03:58 AM http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j187/tonioboi/vxi.jpg nbrDVO October 13th, 2011, 04:18 AM :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol: :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol: The best photoshop ever! iniinsulto mo ba ako? :bash:  eflex October 13th, 2011, 04:22 AM http://cafefrance.net/?p=about http://www.facebook.com/pages/CafeFrance/120023821401806 CafeFrance is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Euro-Med Laboratories Phil., Inc. Davao trader pushes ‘crocodile lechon’ as new Pinoy exotic dish By Judy Quiros Philippine Daily Inquirer (http://lifestyle.inquirer.net/17953/davao-trader-pushes-crocodile-lechon-as-new-pinoy-exotic-dish) 7:53 pm | Thursday, October 13th, 2011 DAVAO CITY, Philippines—The Filipino’s penchant for anything roasted—which gave success to the likes of Andok’s chicken and Mila’s lechon (roasted whole pig)—has made a businessman here think about further exploiting it. But this time, Philip Dizon wanted to commercially roast something much bigger—crocodiles. Before conservationists could cry foul, however, Dizon, who owns the Davao Crocodile Park in Barangay Maa here, said the crocodile species he would be roasting for sale to tourists and locals were not the endangered ones even if they belong to the same class as Lolong’s, the one-ton reptile recently captured in Agusan del Sur. The reptiles will be coming from the park’s breeding venture and belong to the Crocodylus porosus, a kind of saltwater crocodile endemic to the Indo-Pacific region, Dizon said. Lolong also belongs to the same species, which is known in some countries as estuarine crocodiles. “They are not endangered, they are endemic,” he said. Dizon said his plan would further put Davao City on the world’s tourism map. But then, it was more than just that, he admitted. Dizon said he foresees that the “crocodile lechon” would become a hit among food lovers. As to the acceptability of crocodile lechon, Dizon said he tested it on Sunday when he roasted a reptile in his farm. “To my surprise, many visitors liked it,” he said. Dizon said that already, phone calls have been flooding his office, with people asking when they could probably taste another serving of crocodile lechon. He said his reply was that crocodile lechons will be served on Oct. 30, during an occasion he wanted to call “Croctoberfest.” During that time, food enthusiasts and those just wanting to taste crocodile lechon out of curiosity will not be paying a centavo. “It would be free,” Dizon said. But after that, Dizon said people who wanted to partake of lechon crocodile will have to pay already. He said his company will soon be accepting orders for lechon crocodiles during special occasions. As to how much per order, he still could not say. Dizon said crocodile meat is sought after in many countries and “one of the most expensive in the world.” In fact, in Australia, there is a shortage of crocodile meat that Australians have to import reptiles from Malaysia, Dizon said. Dizon said that while the roasted reptile can be enjoyed by food lovers, his company will also be cashing in on its hide. He said the hide is a lucrative export product. A piece of raw hide fetches about $600 and can be turned into bags in the category of Hermes and Louis Vuitton, Dizon said. He said the exportation of crocodile hide could start in three to four years. “There is high demand from the fashion sector,” Dizon said, adding that the supply of raw crocodile hide could not cope up, too. In his farm here, Dizon said they produce about 200 hatchlings annually but should supply not be enough when the lechon crocodile becomes a hit, he would have to buy reptiles from somewhere else. He said he could buy from other crocodile farms if local supply dwindles. RonnieR October 13th, 2011, 04:48 PM [CENTER]LCT the Venue A unique party concept for Dabawenyos. (SMHCC). Lourdes Macalindong, SMHCC vice president for sales and marketing, said in a recent briefing here that Radisson chose “to build the first Park Inn in the entire Philippines and Asia” in Davao because of its huge potential. Park Inn hotels are currently found only in Europe and the United States. Macalindong said the groundbreaking for the world-class hotel project, which will sit on an 8,800-square-meter property inside the SM City Lanang Complex here, is set for this month. “Its targeted completion is 2013, in time for the completion of the SMX Convention Center here,” Macalindong said. The 204-room Park Inn Hotel, she said, would cost P800 million. The hotel is envisioned to be “very edgy, hip and trendy with vibrant colors.” Treena Tecson, director of SMHCC’s marketing communications, sales and marketing, said Radisson designed the Park Inn branch here for business travelers, especially those coming over for conventions. “The coming in of a Carlson brand of hotel in Davao City is an indicator that Davao City is an emerging convention center in the country,” Tecson said. PH is Top Honeymoon Destination By JOJIE ALCANTARA The Manila Bulletin (http://mb.com.ph/articles/337582/ph-top-honeymoon-destination) October 13, 2011, 9:10am MANILA, Philippines -- Around 30 delegates from the Philippines attended the recent China Incentive, Business Travel & Meetings Exhibition (CIBTM) 2011 held in Beijing, China. Last year’s CIBTM 2010 saw record-breaking attendance, and this year’s event topped it. Most of the delegates came from Davao City, for an important reason. During the three-day event, Davao was one of the featured destinations of the Philippines after Boracay and Palawan, which are already popular among Chinese tourists. During the Philippine Travel Conference held at The Regent Beijing, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte gave a brief presentation outlining the “Let us Meet in Davao” campaign, positioning the country’s biggest city as a potential international MICE destination. At the CIBTM 2011, the Philippines was also awarded “Honeymoon Destination of the Year 2011.” Beijing Tourism Attache Jasmine Esguerra accepted the trophy. Voting turnout showed the country beating Bali (Indonesia) and Thailand. Sales calls, product presentations and table talks were set among private stakeholders of the CIBTM delegation, Chinese MICE suppliers and non-MICE tour operators. Each company was called onstage and given a few minutes to introduce their product/resorts, mostly with interpreters (a few delegates spoke Mandarin fluently). The Department of Tourism launched the Chinese Tourism Marketing Program last June with the aim of capturing the market. Nine media entities and one major tour operator were invited to Davao as part of the exposure and validation tour, following the promotional undertakings they set in Beijing earlier on. This year’s CIBTM trip is a follow through of said lineup of activities. Resort and travel operators in the Davao team were The Ritz Hotel, Marco Polo Davao, DICEC, Twin Rivers Leisure Group Inc., Eden Nature Park, Pearl Farm Beach Resort and Mount Apo Travel and Tours. Also part of the Team were DoT XI Regional Director Art Boncato and city government officials. The CIBTM is the leading event for meetings, incentives, business travel and events industry in China and Asia, and is the only high-end MICE and travel exhibition supported by the PRC government. This huge three-day expo provides a dedicated business platform for over 300 exhibitors, including around 80 hotels, to meet and conduct business with international and regional industry buyers who have the authority to place real business. This year’s event was held at the China National Convention Centre (CNCC), near the famous Bird’s Nest Stadium of the Olympic Games in 2008. The Philippines has a 35-sq.meter booth with seven tables provided right in the middle of the expo area. Davao destinations were prominently displayed in the huge backdrops. Boracay, Cebu, Manila and Palawan are already known destinations to the Chinese market, according to the Philippine Tourism Office in Beijing. Mayor Sara Duterte is hopeful that Davao can become the new foreign destination for the Chinese, who spend some $45-$50 billion on travel alone. With the growing MICE tourism and the active participation of key leaders in the industry, Davao can very well provide the Chinese market the various incentive travel packages and facilities for meetings and events. BALANZA of DurianPost (http://durianpost.wordpress.com/2011/09/19/davao-building-booma-race-to-heaven/) Davao City’s skyline will be undergoing drastic changes with proposed high-rise buildings shooting up to the sky in what is seen as a physical testamanent thatreinforces the city’s image as an investors’ haven and the premier metropolis in Mindanao. Mindanao’s tallest building—a 34-storey edifice—would start rising next year in the business district in Bajada, one of several proposed by investors. A businessman involved in construction aptly and poetically summed up the high-rise building boom following reports of the city’s tallest buildin to be built in Bajada, the city’s fastest growing business district, at the Abreeza-Ayala Mall complex. There is now a race to heaven. Investors are competing with each other to build the tallest building, said the businessman who requested he remain nameless. SKYSCRAPERS. The proposed 34-storey Aeon Tower in Davao City, Mindanao’s tallest building to be competed in 2016, left, (see newspaper screenshot above) and its soon-to-be shorter brother, the 18-storey Marco Polo Hotel. Other tall buildings in the city are the 17-storey Landco Corporate Center and the 14-floor Pryce Tower. Vice mayor Rodrigo Duterte himself is mystified at the construction boom, as new buildings frenetically sprout up in almost every corner of the city, wondering if the projects—many of which are condominiums– would sell. At the Gikan sa Masa Para sa Masa television program on ABS/CBN on Sunday, Duterte himself provided an answer to the riddle. He said he asked around and a source in the housing development sector told him that housing and property development are the best areas to invest in the city. They said we have a fastly growing middle-income sector that can afford to buy, said Duterte. The city’s business atmosphere has been electrified not only by Filipino investors but also by foreigners—Chinese, Japanese, Taiwanese, Koreans and Malaysians, among others—who poured investments in various ventures The local buying power getting more muscles to lure investors aside, Davao City has been happily drowning from an exodus of new investments in recent years. The Davao City Investment Promotions Center (DCIPC), tasked with the city’s investment generation drive, reported that last year investors poured nearly P4 billion in business expansions and new investments mostly in property development and housing. Joining the melee are the country’s top housing developers which came ahead of the current boom, barging into high-end housing that transformed the city’s outskirts into expensive gated communities. Mixed-use property development projects followed to respond to a surge of investors looking for space—topped by the P2.9 billion Abreeza mall project of the Ayala Land and the Floirendo Group of Companies in J. P. Laurel Avenue in Bajada. Four other multi-million peso mall projects are in the pipeline adding to the existing seven malls. DCIPC-predicted investment figures for 2011—targeted at double the 2010 figure– have gone loco, with the coming of the multi-million dollar AboitizPower coal-fired power plant in Toril district, the single biggest investment today. From single-unit housing and property development, the investment focus has shifted to skyscrapers: Three buildings above ten srories are in the drawing board that the unnamed businessman said are leading “the race to heaven.” Mindanao’s tallest building, the 34-storey Aeon Towers—a 600-room luxury condominium-hotel-business skyscraper– is rising soon in the city. Construction starts next year, with completion set in early 2016. Two other high-risers are also in the planning stage—-a 20-storey building in Ecoland in Matina Aplaya and a 12-storey building also in Bajada. The new skyscrapers would dwarf present holders of the tall-building crowns—the 18-storey Marco Polo Hotel along C. M. Recto, the 17-storey Landco-PDCP Corporate Center in J. P. Laurel Avenue in Bajada and the 14-storey Pryce Tower also on J. P. Laurel Avenue Govinda October 15th, 2011, 07:14 AM ^^ wrong choice of word i suppose.. should have been INFLUX of new investments instead of EXODUS..maybe the author was too excited to share the good news..nevertheless, kudos! The hotel is envisioned to be “very edgy, hip and trendy with vibrant colors.” Treena Tecson, director of SMHCC’s marketing communications, sales and marketing, said Radisson designed the Park Inn branch here for business travelers, especially those coming over for conventions. “The coming in of a Carlson brand of hotel in Davao City is an indicator that Davao City is an emerging convention center in the country,” Tecson said. http://business.inquirer.net/24661/asia%e2%80%99s-first-park-inn-hotel-to-rise-in-davao No rendering yet...but location is within the current u/c SM Lanang complex. :) Here are the threads associated to it. http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=1376363&page=13 http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=1424298&page=192 tj_brewed October 15th, 2011, 08:24 AM http://a6.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/296095_120628421376198_120624931376547_95439_957439698_n.jpg Il Tenore October 15th, 2011, 12:21 PM ABREEZA http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6091/6245609275_ef56617015_z.jpg http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6048/6245607107_3dd8ae09fa_z.jpg GIARDINO GELATO http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6119/6246124744_451905b20a_z.jpg GAP http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6155/6245601215_6dd87e7a25_z.jpg http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6212/6246126670_5a5b7ef380_z.jpg http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6039/6246120774_e2c3a655ca_z.jpg Il Tenore October 15th, 2011, 12:29 PM ^^ The local buying power getting more muscles to lure investors aside, Davao City has been happily drowning from an exodus of new investments in recent years. jonv820 October 15th, 2011, 02:48 PM ^^ The local buying power getting more muscles to lure investors aside, Davao City has been happily drowning from an exodus of new investments in recent years. nanghawa ang investment? nice news! *sarcasm* nagresearch sana ang writer before nagsulat :bash: WawaY[625] October 15th, 2011, 04:39 PM Top 5 Existing buildings in Davao http://i55.tinypic.com/ind1kp.jpg Mindanao's tallest at 19 physical levels http://neodavao.files.wordpress.com/2007/08/landco.jpg?w=450 http://static.panoramio.com/photos/original/55142990.jpg http://clickdavao.com/realestate/properties/delta4/durian_hotel/durianhotel_01.jpg http://images.jcsalva.multiply.com/image/1/photos/1/600x600/22/SAM-0843.JPG?et=H0RKpE0YPXDgqtjpwFmFSg&nmid=353421796 Top 5 Proposals with renderings http://images02.olx.com.ph/ui/15/94/09/1315290319_247508509_2-AEON-TOWERS-CONDOMINIUM-Davao-City.jpg http://neodavao.files.wordpress.com/2011/08/abreezaresidences3.jpg http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-MubYgSOj8Kg/ToXG57R4tOI/AAAAAAAAALM/5S_ekY9vRfI/s1600/310414_2463485786422_1230558703_33063591_1882439896_n.jpg http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/198699_262454070432794_100000046086386_1139423_861935_n.jpg http://neodavao.files.wordpress.com/2011/08/kukun.jpg Wadaboy October 15th, 2011, 04:48 PM Nagboot boot na tung pikas ug proclaim..... hahahaha!!!!! http://i55.tinypic.com/ind1kp.jpg Sige pa silag ingon 20th floor na daw nga 18th floor pa gani ang LKK building.. well kung ing-ana 20th floor ang Marco Polo kay naa na may atop ang 19th floor.... hahaha. It is ok if this crown will go around the island. It is well, a false sign of prosperity because every city may have capabilities of building tall buildings BUT... can they take care of the people living or working in it. the measure of progress should not only be the economy, but also the improvement in the quality of Life. Who would want to get stuck in a long traffic because of lack of discipline of the drivers? who would want to be fearful at night when going home or traveling alone? definitely not me.... However, who would want to commend still honest drivers for giving exact change, returning your things and even helping you out in your travels? In fact, I would be a hundred times prouder of the city that has people that still do this. In fact the city is made up of a group of people living together, not those shiny edifices called skyscrapers.. I would rather want to see poverty reduction, the improvement of the purchasing power of the worker (without that purchasing power, the malls will be just a an empty cement shell), improvement of job opportunities (kase, if everybody will be able to work decently and is able to provide thus a happy davaowenyo) and of course environment. About 400 delegates from all over the Philippines converged at the Energy Park in the barangay of Apokon of the progressive city for the celebration of Dayaw: Indigenous Peoples Festival 2011. The event was spearheaded by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), particularly its Subcommission on Cultural Communities and Traditional Arts (SCCTA), with the Mindanawon Initiatives for Cultural Dialogue, the Tagum City government, the Tagum City Tourism Council, different government agencies and the private sector. The NCCA has been annually celebrating the National Indigenous Peoples’ Month in different parts of the country through this event. This year, it was held from Oct. 7 to 9, with the theme “Paghabi ng Ating Pagkakatulad Tungo sa Kapayapaan” (Interweaving Our Commonalities Towards Peace). http://img31.imageshack.us/img31/2820/travel3b400.jpg Kagan women in their colorful dresses A Mansaka group of Tagum City led by Datu Agidong Suknaan and Datu Rudy Onlos opened the festival with a ritual, thanking Magbabaya. The participants, about 400 of them, and guests were welcomed by Tagum City mayor Rey T. Uy. Department of Education Undersecretary Albert Muyot delivered the message of NCCA chairman Felipe de Leon, expressing appreciation to the city of Tagum, dubbed as the cultural hub of Mindanao. Also in attendance is NCCA executive director-officer-in-charge Adelina Suemith, who will serve the Commission while in search of executive director. The highlight of the opening ceremony was an exhilarating parade of indigenous groups and clusters, including the Iloko and Bago, Pangasinan of Bolinao, Gaddang and Isinay, Tinggian and Itneg, Ibanag and Yogad, Itawit and Malaweg, Ivatan, Bungkalot and Isnag, Kalinga, Ifugao, Ibaloi, Kankanaey and Balangao, Bontok and Applai, Ayta of Central Luzon, Tagalog of Bulacan, Mangyan, Palawani, Molbog and Jama Mapun, Tagbanua, Pala’wan and Batak, Cuyunon of El Nido, Agta of Bicol, Bikolano, Ati of Negros Occidental, Ati of Guimaras, Iloilo and Capiz, Bukidnon of Panay, Ati of Antique and Aklan, Hiligaynon, Kiniraya and Aklanon, Waray and Abaknon, Yakan, Subanen, Manobo, Higaonon, Bagobo, Mandaya and Mansaka, B’laan and Sangir, Ata Manobo, T’boli, Teduray and Arumanen, Mamanwa, Maranao, Magindanao and Iranun, and Tausug. NCCA SCCTA Commissioner Joycie Dorado Alegre expressed her admiration for Tagum City for taking up the challenge to host such a big event particularly to Alma Uy, the president of the City of Tagum Tourism Council, which oversaw and managed the event. For three days, different groups performed at the sprawling park where a main stage was constructed as well as an intimate stage and an inamungan made by the Ata Manobo of Talaingod in Davao del Norte, an elevated structure used for special occasions, gatherings and important discussions. There were also performances in other parts of the region as outreach such as schools and malls in Davao City and several towns around Davao del Norte and in nearby Compostela Valley. http://img818.imageshack.us/img818/6736/travel3c400.jpg Bagobo showcasing their traditions in dance Aside from the performances, there were exhibits at the park: “Gama” (mats, baskets, bamboo crafts and wood crafts), “Dalit” (food and culinary arts), “Bantug” (prestige symbols), “Habi” (woven items, textiles and clothes) and “Kalinaw” (excerpts from Dr. Jesus Peralta’s book Glimpses). There were also examples of vernacular architecture erected at the park including the bebalay pagsalabukay, a Subanen common house; binotok, an Ata Manobo house; balay, an Ati house; patil, a house with single and high post; and an Ifugao hut. Additionally, the 9th Kaimunan Festival of Tagum City was held on Oct. 7 as part of Dayaw. Held at the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP), the event showcased the cultures of the ethnic groups of the city, particularly the Mansaka, and concluded with a traditional feast of rice, chicken and catfish cooked in bamboo tubes and bais, the ginger wine. A substantial part of the Dayaw festival was the forum and workshop held at the DepEd Conference Room, with case presentations and discussions on indigenous peoples (IP) concerns. There were also presentations of traditional games to the delight of visitors. The Dayaw 2011 closing ritual was held at the USeP, where the different indigenous groups gathered and watched the showcase of southern ethnic cultures and feasted on sumptuous traditional food. The event was highlighted by the reading of the Dayaw Tagum Declaration, ratified by the heads of different IPs and synthesized by anthropologist Dr. Prospero Covar. The declaration voices the issues, concerns and aspirations of the IPs as well as the actions to be taken by government, the general public and IPs themselves. Overall, the Dayaw 2011 celebrates the cultural richness of the country through its indigenous peoples as well as confronts the problems that sadly beleaguer them. It is hoped that the festival will foster a deep appreciation of their contributions. Mindanawon Initiatives for Cultural Dialogue is this year’s conduit NGO for the celebration. Businessman Philip Dizon said the civet coffee industry is moving so fast that he never regretted engaging into such kind of business. For coffee lovers, the taste and aroma of civet coffee is all that matters even if they knew it came from the intestinal tract of the civet cat. The civet cat is of the family Viverridae of Africa and Asia, having anal scent glands that secrete a fluid with a musky odor which is even used in the manufacture of perfumes. Dizon said a mere 25 grams of civet coffee can sell for more than 150 to 200 U.S. dollars. But despite the price, coffee lovers seem to cannot get enough. However, he said maintaining a half hectare civet coffee farm in Kapatagan, Davao del Sur, a foothill of the country’s highest peak, Mt. Apo, is not all for money. Dizon said civet cats are farm pests that farmers hate so much because of the destruction it brings to their crops. This hatred has led farmers to kill the civet cats unmindful that these mammals are a source of big money and the world’s most valuable coffee. It is from this scenario that Dizon started his civet coffee farm by caging the civets not only for money but also to help the farmers benefit from the civet coffee industry. From being an enemy, the civet cat now became the best friend of farmers because it helped uplift their lives. “Civet cats are a farmer’s biggest enemy as they are considered pests in the farm. The only way these farmers could get rid of them is by killing these animals. So I thought that there must be something we could make use of these civets that farmers could also take advantage of,” Dizon said. Dizon started his civet farm by caging some civet cats and feeding them with best altura coffee bean. These green beans are excreted by the weasel-like animal. The nocturnal creature’s staple diet is sugar palm fruit and coffee cherries, which they devour in large quantities. But the animal only digests the pulp of the coffee cherry, so the bean ferments in the digestive system. At present, Dizon buys the coffee beans from the farmers to feed to his civet cats. He said the farm produces 60 to 90 parchments of civet coffee every week which are being sold to regular buyers from Manila and other countries. Dizon distributes his Mt. Apo civet coffee at Chicco de Café, the only coffee shop in Davao City that serves civet coffee. He said the Mt. Apo Civet and Altura coffee beans are also available at the Crocodile Park which he also owns, souvenir shops at the Davao International Airport, Dizon Farms at Rizal Street, Hotel Galleria, Villa Margarita, and D’Leonor Hotel. During the recent Food and Hotel Thailand Show held in Bangkok, Dizon’s civet coffee was also recognized. (PNA) BroiledGum October 17th, 2011, 02:36 AM Agreement to open Davao and Clark gateway nears completion http://davaocitynews.blogspot.com/2011/10/agreement-to-open-davao-and-clark.html The Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (DCCII) is expected to sign a pact with Clark International Airport Corporation within this month to boost the influx of tourists and open more investments through pushing for connecting flights from Clark, Pampanga to city.DCCCII president Maria Lourdes G. Monteverde said in her president’s report on Friday during the chamber’s 9th General Membership Meeting that the corporation is currently reviewing the documents involving on the planned agreement. “We hope that this sisterhood agreement will open doors for more international tourist arrival for Davao City, thereby resulty to more business for our tourism sector. The long term goal of this initiative is to connect all major tourism destination sites of Clark, Davao, Bohol, Cebu, Iloilo and Palawan,” she said. She said the Davao airport can accommodate 20 million passengers per year and yet there was only an annual average of two million tourism arrival with the lack of direct and connecting flights. As of the first six months of the year, the city recorded 717, 771 tourists. The planned pact stemmed when Victor Jose Luciano, president and chief executive of the corporation, saw the viability of connecting the international flights from Clark to the city. During the Davao Investment Conference in August, he said the area has numerous opportunities. “Davao has more to offer as a destination than Subic-Clark,” he said. Once the plan pushes through, the city will a get a passenger traffic from Clark which is serving 5,334 international flights a year and bringing in 607,410 foreign visitors from eight international destinations that include Korea, Japan and Malaysia. At present, Airphil Express and Cebu Pacific Airline already expressed interest to fly from Clark to Davao. “For the full realization of Davao as one of the secondary gateways in the country, we are currently working with the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines-Davao for the review of pertinent requirements and condition of F. Francisco Thursday, 13 October 2011 Category: Economy News THE LOCAL company that brought Sumo Sam restaurant into the city is planning to set up three more similar restaurants in the city within the next two years. Carlo C. Lorenzana of the Sumosouth Foods Inc. said the company has been talking to property owners so that it can expand the presence of Sumosan in the city. “We are now negotiating with some landowners although there has been no finality yet,” Lorenzana told the TIMES Wednesday. One proposed site, he said, is the first mall of the SM Group, the SM City Davao which is located at the southern part of the city. The location of the first Japanese-themed restaurant, which opened a month ago, is at the newly-opened Ayala mall, the Abreeza. Lorenzana added the company is also looking at expanding to key cities in Mindanao, particularly General Santos and Cagayan de Oro, where there are malls that are set to open. In General Santos City, the SM Group is set to open another mall, while the Ayala Group will open next year the Centrio which , like the Abreeza is a mixed-use project and a joint venture with the Anflo Investment and Management Corp. of Don Antonio O. Floirendo. He added that he and his partner, Robert B. Tenchavez, also one of the main owners of the restaurant, are planning to make it a franchise business. At present, the restaurant is a joint venture between his group and that of the main owners that includes actor Marvin Agustin. “The joint venture agreement will mature in one year,” said Lorenzana, although he did not explain why his group wanted it to be franchise business and not a joint venture between the two companies. Aside from the restaurant, the two also partnered in distributing wines from Argentina spirits through the company Lagarde. At present, said Ricardo Laudico, who is also one of the owners of the main restaurant, the Abreeza-located Sumo Sam has performed at par with other outlets. The 50-seater restaurant, located in the third floor of the mall, has a high of 170 customers and a low of 50 customers a day, Laudico said. “You know, our main challenge is the weather,” Laudico said during the press conference on Tuesday, explaining that the people of Davao seem not wanting to go out when it is sunny and that foot traffic was slowly during rainy days. The chefs of the local restaurant, Laudico added, have also whipped seven items in its menu that are unique to its location and using indigenous ingredients. Among these is Davao, a tuna roll with cheese from the Malagos garden. He added that the main company will soon introduce these items in its other eight branches in Metro Manila. “We are really bastardizing the Japanese food concept to suit the taste requirements of our customers,” he added. It helps, Laudico added, that local ingredients are a lot cheaper. “But we do not sacrifice the taste of our products,” he added. Lorenzana, whose family owns the Mindanao Agri-Network Corp., a producer of well-milled rice in the country, said the plan to expand the restaurant especially to other cities, will be dependent on the performance of its first restaurant. “But the prospect (of expanding) is really bright,” he added. (ALI), introduces their brand of urban innovation in Mindanao. Ayala Land envisions a masterplan for the city that will embrace a refreshing integrated lifestyle; one where careful urban planning will combine the best facets of living, business and leisure, thus making the most out of what this city has to offer. At the heart of it all, Alveo Land Corp., Ayala Land’s benchmark for innovation, introduces a new residential concept – Abreeza Residences. Abreeza Residences will be part of a P5-billion, 10-hectare mixed-use development that Ayala Land is developing in partnership with Davao-based Anflo Group of Companies (Anflocor), said Anton Sanchez, division manager of project development for Alveo Land. The partnership between Ayala Land and Anflocor will be anchored through the formation of Accendo Commercial Corp., which will be the prime developer of Abreeza in Davao and all its integral mixed-use components. Accendo has specifically chosen Alveo Land to be the vehicle through which it will establish an exclusive new residential component within Abreeza’s integrated community. The pioneer residential project in Abreeza is masterplanned to offer an exclusive cosmopolitan living experience that complements modern urban living in Davao. The intent is to introduce sophisticated living spaces that befit the needs of a rising urban hub, one that blends into the rich Davao traditions yet still manages to offer a sense of distinction through innovation. Once it rises, the 26-story development will be one of the city’s highest buildings. Its central location means denizens will be able to enjoy accessibility to the rising business, leisure and commercial establishments that will soon line Davao’s first Ayala Land developed district. Inside, themed function rooms with a scenic veranda, a fully-equipped gym, a leisure pool and 24/7 Wi-Fi connections are just some of the amenities. This, after the Davao City Investment Incentive Board (DCIIB) approved earlier this month five more projects with local tax incentives. The new projects are valued at P645.49 million. The new projects, whose owners availed themselves of incentives provided under the Davao City Investment Incentive Code, are expected to generate a total of 1,268 direct and indirect jobs. As DCIIB-approved projects, their investors are entitled to such fiscal incentives as exemption from building permit fees and charges; exemption from the Mayor’s permit fees, business sales taxes and other fees and charges imposed under existing city ordinances for a maximum of three years; and exemption from basic real property tax for a maximum of two years. They are also qualified to enjoy non-fiscal incentives such as assistance in securing business licenses and permits, processing of local investment incentives, business matching services, help in finding suitable sites for their location, assistance in finding sources of raw materials, providing of manpower and other production needs and access to the city’s data-banking services. The total amount of investments as of October this year is only 3.45% short of the total investments recorded in 2010. Last year, Davao City attracted P3.54 billion total investments in 13 different projects that generated 4,494 direct and indirect jobs. Of the 13 projects, nine are property development projects, three are tourism facilities and one is agri-business. Asian Carmakers Corp. (ACC), the local importer and distributor of BMW cars in the country, expects to cement its market leadership in the luxury premium segment and all indications pointing to the company beating its highest recorded annual sales ever of 800 units. ACC president Maricar Parco told reporters the company recorded its highest growth in premium luxury segment in September with 30 percent increase over August with year to date sales performance of over 560 units, securing a 32 percent share in this premium car segment. "This is our ninth consecutive year of dominance in this segment. Globally, the trend is the same as we are poised to hit our highest sales of 1.6 million units this year from 1.4 million units last year for the entire BMW Group," Parco said. "We have been leader in this segment in the Philippines and we intend to keep that as we forecast to hit double digit growth," she added. ACC has set a growth rate of at least 10 percent this year over 700 units sold in 2010. As of September, ACC has grown 8 percent over 2010 performance or a lot better than the industry's 3 percent growth. According to Parco, they are also poised to beat this year the company's highest recorded sales ever of 800 units. "We hope to beat that this year," she said. The strong growth in the premium luxury segment is an indication this sector has been spared from the economic crisis. While the total industry performance in September was still in the negative territory, the total premium luxury segment was up 3 percent. Parco attributed its growth to the new variants and models they introduced in the local market. X3 model was launched this year and 5 Series last year. The BMW X Series proves to be the best-selling SUV in the premium segment with total year to date sales at 158, chalking up 32 percent share of the SUV segment. Likewise, flagship model 7 Series dominates with a 27 percent share of its segment, with year to date sales at 33 units. The 5 Series saw the biggest growth in its segment with a 39 percent increase in sales over the same period of the previous year, while the 1 Series achieved the largest growth at 94 percent increase in sales and a 49 percent share in its segment. The BMW 4 Series, the four-door sedan, now accounts for as much as 30 percent of its total sales volume. It has a starting price at P2.9 million. Parco said the company is set to launch the next generation 1 Series this year. ACC's growth would be supported with the expansion of its network, she said. The company intends to open two new dealerships next year in Bacolod and one in Metro Manila. It has five dealerships in major islands in the country including Cebu, Davao and Cagayan de Oro. Parco also said that ACC does not plan to revive its assembly operations in the country saying they are focusing its efforts now to build the volume of its sales. Its completely built up packs are imported straight from Germany and the X3 and X6 from the U.S. junax October 18th, 2011, 04:51 PM bakit best city ang davao sa mindanao? eto oh, hindi na yan downtown pero ang linis at progressive pa rin! kainin nyo yan kung ayan nyo maniwala. http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i292/naxju/a-1.jpg http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i292/naxju/b-1.jpg http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i292/naxju/c.jpg junax October 18th, 2011, 04:55 PM davao's oldest street... san pedro. http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i292/naxju/e.jpg http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i292/naxju/d.jpg Thanini October 18th, 2011, 04:58 PM ^^ wow! another breathtaking shots from tiyo naxju! :okay: dinabaw October 18th, 2011, 05:00 PM I don't see any reason nganong gina-dread ang mga bisaya nga magtinagalog. If there is a basis for national language, it should evolve in a place that incorporates the represenations of many languages in the country, and among that is Davao and Mindanao. the nation's history should also be rewritten. contrary to conventional history, the challenging claim that Magellan first arrived in Butuan area may be more accurate and it was said to be the Datu of Butuan who informed Magellan about his relative Humabon. Being relatives they most likely share the same language and they speak the same Lumadnong Bisaya, but the datu of butuan is definitely not cebuano because his kingdom was more established than Humabon's at that time (he can't even subject Lapulapu), and the amazing discovery of excellent pre-colonial gold crafted jewelries from that Mindanao area unprecedented among Asian collections now on exhibit at the Ayala museum, and ancient unearthed balanggays attested that Mindanao's history was very, very ancient, and there's even more that will put Mindanao's role at the forefront not just of the nation's but even Asia's and the rest that must be revealed to Mindanaoans and rewrite the nation's TRUE history long neglected. micketymoc October 19th, 2011, 02:12 AM Guys - Dabawenyo here na sobrang tagal nang hindi umuuwi.
