I can't seem to find the Eastgate tower thread anywhere...

So, what's the latest news on this one?

(perhaps the thread was deleted, if so, a new one should be started - after all it's a biggie!)

Construction is due to begin at the New Year I think.

I've found the Thread 2 now (it's on the next page of this forum) but the link is dead in the Thread Index.

Have they put up any hoardings yet around the site?

Has anyone got any height comparisons between Beetham, Eastgate and 1 Hardman Square? I take it these 3 are going to be the tallest in Manchester before 2010?

Will 1 Hardman Square be taller than the Albany (Crown) tower?

Yes...

I think Albany's around the 130m mark, whilst Hsq is 150m (rumoured taller)

Apologies for being a bit thick, but holidays and hackers and stuff have addled my memories of some projects. Where are we up to with 1HS?

well the last we've heard from allied london is that they've extended it so it's over 40 floors, and that they're getting rid of the slopey bit to maximise floor space.

it should look something like this:

According to Skyscrapernews.com the heights for the four tallest skyscrapers in Manchester will be...

Eastgate 180m
Beetham 157m
1 Hardman Square 140m
Albany Tower 131m

skyscrapernews hasn't been updated because the official height of the building hasn't been released yet. jrb and accura went to an open day at spinningfields and spoke to allied london staff who told them it would be over 40 floors which would make it higher than 140m, 180m - 200 more likely.

caw will update the list on ssn when the information is officially released. i assume.

Are there any signs of activity on the Eastgate site at the moment? Hoardings up?

gothicform

indeed, we dont know the current height of 1HS as its been redesigned (again). 40 office floors will definitely be more than 140m in height.

Manchester Planner
August 26th, 2005, 05:55 PM
Beetham, Eastgate and 1HS all above 150m (ie skyscrapers)... that's enough to overtake the City of London! :D

kids
August 26th, 2005, 06:08 PM
if 1hs gets a move on, it could become the 2nd tallest building in the uk, depending on its height of course.

Its on Store St really, a bit set back from Ducie St behind The Place hotel, its gonna look enormous from a distance, the ground is higher there than say..where Beetham is, imagine the sight of it on the skyline...can't fricking wait

This 1HS sounds like a beauty, didnt realize it was gonna be so tall, now i remember there was talk on here a while ago about something over 40 floors just cant keep up here :clown:

It's on the car park between Ducie St and Store Street right next to 'The Place' converted warehouse.

The car park is your pics is unrelated, not sure where that wasteland is.

that wasteland is right near the underpass under Piccadilly going towards London Road.

Won't that look smart on the train into Picc.....Eastgate and Albany, with Beetham, 1HS and Gt Northern in the middle distance.

It'll be interesting to see just how fast Eastgate apartments sell when they're released. There might be a few BBC bods looking for property by January.

I doubt it as the BBC plan is nowhere near finalised, nice thought though.
