Tell you what - this new stadium, if it does go through, will be brilliant...but only for 1 reason. I see Kai Tak out my window right now, and a world class state of the art stadium...outside my window across the harbour would just look fab (mind we'll probably shift places as rents are rocketing too high and I'll be moving to the US but you know what I mean)
That's the only use I can think of for that stadium - brilliant scenery.
How much will it REALLY benefit Hong Kong?
A team or two (as seems to be the norm now) f rom Europe comes every summer to play in Hong Kong - played in the Hong Kong stadium. So it's not as if it's 'urgent'.
It's said it'll help Hong Kong compete for major events - will it really? With 2 stadiums? Is Hong Kong expected to host a major event with 2 major stadiums? Co-host perhaps....
Anyways I said initially when they were planning what to do with the old Kai Tak site that a stadium right on the harbour would look great. I re-trace my steps though...although it would LOOK great, how beneficial will it really be?
