oh those were the days of Asiaweek...I was very surprised why Seoul was so down in the list..below Malaysian, Chinese and Filipino cities. No idea what the factor was that pulled it down. :?

i think there were many criterias that they look in a city...if you look for example KL did pretty good in term of hospital beds per 1000 (families?...patients?...not sure though) it was ranked number 1 and other criterias which KL is in the top ten such as Average Income (US$) (ranked 10), State Educational Spending Per Cap/$ (ranked 10)and a Ratio of House Price to Income (ranked 8). Those plus other criterias made KL number 9 in overall ranking. I think Seoul must have gotten poor ranking in many criterias. Kudos to Georgetown and KL!!!! :applause:

Hoping that's next time we will do better.

i thought Asiaweek has seized operations? Means this is an outdated list?

What were the criteria for this list anyways?

I'm surprised Seoul is so far down--even more surprised that Beijing is above Shanghai. Beijing is still pretty chaotic in terms of pollution and infrastructure while Shanghai, at this time, has been more progressive environmentally (the air is much cleaner, although it still has a looong ways to go) as well as in the city planning/infrastructure department, it is not the huge mess that Beijing officials are currently trying to clean up before 2008.

It's great though that Malaysia has 2 cities in the top 10.

Asiaweek had since ceased its publication in 2001. the list provided was outdated. its probably answer yr question on why beijing scored higher than shanghai.
