2012 Opening Will Mark Introduction of Grand Hyatt Brand to Malaysia and Increase the Presence of Hyatt-Branded Hotels in Southeast Asia

CHICAGO -- Hyatt Hotels Corporation (NYSE: H) announced today that a Hyatt affiliate has entered into an agreement with Bahagia Investment Corporation (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd to manage Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur. The hotel is under construction and is expected to open in 2012.

Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur will be part of an iconic, mixed use complex. The hotel, occupying floors 17 through 39 of the property, will feature 412 guest rooms, including 42 suites and will offer over 33,000 square feet of meeting and event space, a 228-seat café, a 298-seat specialty restaurant with multiple cuisines, a 74-seat Sky Lobby Lounge, a 102-seat poolside restaurant and bar, a spa with 11 treatment rooms, and a swimming pool.

There are currently 51 Hyatt-branded hotels in Asia Pacific and Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur will join the two existing Hyatt-branded hotels in Malaysia: Hyatt Regency Kinabalu and Hyatt Regency Kuantan Resort. There are 16 other Grand Hyatt hotels in the region’s key gateway cities and destination resorts, including Bali, Bangkok, Beijing, Jakarta, Seoul, Shanghai, Singapore, and Tokyo.

Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur will be located in the Golden Triangle area of Kuala Lumpur, in a prime location on Jalan Pinang road close to the Kuala Lumpur City Centre (“KLCC”) and the iconic Petronas Towers.

It could be the reflection that is in gold. The other day I was driving then looked up and saw the building in gold. No joke. So I'm assuming it could be in gold when sunset and not as if gold karats windows sorry.

Dengilo, you mean the lot in btwn hyatt and onekl which is now a carpark? The plot actually belong to dbkl, previously klcc. at this moment, a korean developer is actively pursuing some new development there in jv basis.

but in some part,kl looks empty...i think we do still left behind...

still a lot of trees from aerial view as well as a lot of parking lots in between buildings -- infills. that tells me we are still decades away from fully developed into something like Tokyo or NYC.

where is Mandarin oriental at pic above???..i cant see it..haha...Mandarin should add more floor to be seeing by any building surround(if can..can or not??)...same as impiana do.believe me mandarin room view nowdays blocked by lot c and cannot see KLCC clearly from window.BTW Grand Hyatt look nice and when it will open it door actually?

I think with the bright sun in Malaysia, it could be especially dangerous on drivers due to the reflection. Occupants in neighboring buildings may also find it annoying and complain. You know... People like to complain all the time ;)

I was saying from my own experience with the reflection... turned a corner and whoa! This glass-cladded building in front was just like a giant torch. Blinded for a few seconds and that could have caused an accident.

It looks a bit too casual - but I like the sofas..

although it was better than MO kl,i always have high expectation on this because the interior designer was from bilkey llinas,a high profile id company that designed shangri la pudong,grand hyatt hong kong,westin nanjing and four season mumbai.i love all their work accept this :(

when u start comparing,nothing is better....
btw,park hyatt shanghai is world class,and the best in the city,why dont u compare it to
KLs best.....grand hyatt have nt open yet,while park hyatt hv been operating for years
and multiple of refurbishment

can't really blame the IDers, they work by bounds set by the client's budget and taste. if the client doesn't have either, even the best IDers can't do much...

i know everything depend on client but what the point of hiring interior designer?not every good design are costly,it actually depend on how good the interior designer tell their story and bring their client into their dreams:)..grand hyatt is a very high profile hotelier brand.Claim to be one of the best hotel in kuala lumpur and in the world.the location is on top spot,with nice view of world renowned landmark,petronas twin tower and city view,they can be consider as grand hyatt shanghai(opposite the shanghai famous landmark swfc).all the room have a great view seems all the guestroom located on high floor.. they should make use of the floor to ceiling glass and the room size,it was among the largest room size for lowest room category in kl,compare to other 5 star hotel in kl ,just look at shangrila(room size start from 29sqm) they make full use of it and the design was really outstanding while grand hyatt (room size start from 47sqm) will have a 'not so good design'.yes,budget is something that need to be consider but still they can comeout with better design,use a suitable choice of wallcovering,colour scheme,material use,concept and style that it,doesnt have to be all in pearl and gold:)and im not just compairing,i said i expect something like that :) but i agree with you azey that shangrila kl has one of the most beautiful interior design in malaysia:)

Please understand the concept of both park and grand hyatts first. While park are the top tier of Hyatt property, grand Hyatt are often have more rooms, compared to boutique style park hyatts. The designs are very decent and not trying too hard. I'm a Hyatt fan an I stayed at park Hyatt shanghai's chairman suite, and grand Hyatt Hk suite as well. u can't have a grand Hyatt rated room at a park Hyatt design :)

There is no such rules in interior design world and hospitality design..im working at interior design firm that done most of world great hotel interiors and some are park hyatt and grand hyatt.ive never heard about those restricted rules in designing those hotel brand..btw,you can see a few grand hyatt interiors that is better than park hyatt.
The word "you cant have a grand hyatt rated room at a park hyatt design"show that you still dont understand what is hospitality design about.you might be one of their guest but you are not a person behind designing stage.there is no such word as park hyatt design or grand hyatt design,design is a shceme that look good and function very well in term of aesthetic and usage:)..you still can design a
good space eventhough your space was located in the middle of the jungle or in the center of disposal center:)..just like what i said,being beautiful doesnt mean it must be a solid gold,doesnt try so hard,it was enough if they can choose a suitable scheme,wallcovering,floor finishes,material and many more..or should i say doubletree kl and gtower hotel is on higher level than grand hyatt klcc
because obviously it look better in design aspect(surely grand hyatt have a higher level than those hotel that i mention)what i try to say is they dont need to compete with any other great hotel in designing their space,just come out with a practical concept in the same time good design and walla!guest happy,guest stay and hotelier get their money..it was simple,being on a lower level doesnt mean that you can get a better environment..sorry for posting a long post:),cheers:)

I think its not that bad... have the a380 emirates suites kinda of feel .. i think :D But it would be better if it fully carpet and agreed that round carpet under the bed is a big no-no. My favorite hotel guestroom(the typical normal one and not the suites) in KL so far are Traders and KL Hilton, simple-minimalist yet modern. :cheers:

i fully agree with you,remove those circle rug,what is the point to put a circle rug under your bed ''unless you have a circle bed'' where you can only see half of it

-change the floor covering with wall to wall carpet,change all the veneer timber material to a darker colour maybe an oak veneer(will look more exclusive than this type of veneer),change the wallpaper(those wallpaper have spoty look make the wall look unfinish and messy,change those little tiny cheap looking frame at wall(look like it were bought at rm5 shop)with something live,fresh like wall sculpture,avoid using full glass top for workstation desk as it look cheap,replace it with something solid(as they prefer use more timber finish,why not make a solid desk?will make it more suit with the environment scheme than use some part glass and some timber)change the design of the workstation desk too.dont forget to redesign a new side table.use a bold solid side table rather than just a piece of glass..what the point of putting table lamp on basin table top behind headboard?doesnt it was use as a reading light?change the thin comforter with high quality fluffy duvet,add extra small fluffy pillow,put a runner at the end of the bed mattress:).yes i agree with you that hilton and traders done a good job in designing their environment :).btw,you should try the duplex suite of hilton kl,it was pretty damn amazing!
