Great shot of Big Apple! :)

The only thing missing are super tall towers....Still can't believe WTC will not be rebuilt.....These days even obscure towns like Dubai and Taipei are getting bigger towers.....It's an absurd! :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash:

Don't feel so bad...Taipei Has one building that is only 200 feet higher than Empire state, and no other tall buildings, New York already has a supertall, ESB, one of the worlds tallest supertalls at that. The Burj Dubai will probably not be as big as they say it is and many of those projects wont even go up. Freedom tower will grace the skies at 1776 feet while BOA, Ratner tower, the rest of the WTC , that funky townhouse building, the westside will all grace the sky with SUPERSCRAPERS! New york is not behind at all, it might even in fact be ahead. So Dubai will have a tower thats a little taller than freedom (Maybe by 100 meters) so what? it's not New york and never will be!

I didn't, I found on the net, But there is a private club on the 56th or 58th floor of the building. It could be from the roof, the roof is 400 feet wide so it's very accessable.

Yes, metlife has awesome views!

we're not done yet folks.... updates

this was posted by crispydragon herself..
I will humbly accept your praise for my (amateur) photos. The Dragon is not too adept with a dig. camera (must be the claws!)
As I said to Gio, I was snapping as fast as I could while on the roof, since I wasn't up there to sight-see.

I will say that you too can (almost) have those views - I was in the PH's on the 55th FL and the West one is worth every penny of the $10M for the view of the Park. Wow. Even the walk-in closets have floor to ceiling windows.

Anyway, enjoy!

Most people would assume that Inwood is the northernmost neighborhood in Manhattan, but they are actually wrong. The answer lies right across the Broadway Br to figure it out. Although Marble Hill may resemble its Bronx neighborhors it is technically considered Manhattan b/c it was part of the island historically. This is what Manhattan's northernmost hood looks like.

why not...

some of you saw this last x-mas during "the gates".... this is a compressed/resized version, split into two frames at apx 1MB per.. click the top side, or the bottom side of the pic below to view the full-size files.. I edited the image for exposure, sharpness, and color.. This is the best quality that is still "free" transfer friendly... any larger would require it to be uploaded onto a personal site w/a fairly fast transfer rate...

If you would like a copy of the (full) high-res file @ 3696 x 4422, PM me with an email address and I'll be glad to send you one..
I have versions ranging from 6.0mb to 20.0mb (@3696x4422)

yeah, i've posted this one in my IKO thead, and I think its already in this thread a few pages back, but notice how dark it is? \/.. I just make a few adjustments in photoshop, but by doing this the file size skyrockets from 2.71mb to almost 20mb when saved with the highest quality possible ( worth it )..... After I finish my edits, I can compress the file to around 6.0mb..anything smaller it starts to drop colors and blur... hence the 6.0mb - 20.0mb sizes.. if somebody wants an edited copy, but doesnt want to take on a 20mb file then they can request a smaller size..

Sad subject (2nd link), but its a nice image.. new one on me... you dig up some quality stuff btw..

When viewed at fullsize the edited version brings out every detail that was hidden in the shadows before.. :)

Anybody notice how extensive the uptown skyline is on the right half of this picture? It is even cut off at the end of the frame. The skyline basically takes up the entire horizon!

Look at the barrier at the bottom of the picture, it may be the same interstate but my picture appears to have been taken further east from Manhattan. The creek on your picture is Newtown Creek that separates Queens and Brooklyn.

Pics of Manhattan that don't seem very Manhattanish.

Dude....That very statement is why they should'nt be here... This is the "AMAZING pics of manhattan" thread.. Not the "any ole' half assed, low res randomness thats not so Manhattanish" thread.. Not to mention the number of these files you have chosen to post... ridiculous..

People from every other forum on the web know, and talk about this thread, and just how great it is. I for one am very proud of that and don't want to see its quality compromised with posts such as this littering its many great pages.. If you wanna share some stuff that shows a more reserved side of Manhattan, then create a thread stating just that out in the proper locale, Please, I'm asking you nicely..

We want balls to the wall, flat out jaw dropping manhattan madness here... Not this..
