Here are photos taken by me, from my trip to San Fransico in the Summer of 2007. I owe this city an awesome summer and hence love this city alot! I would give it a 9 out of 10 for its Skyline, having seen it in person. Hope to visit this city soon in the near future. :)

One of the best skyline I know.Its not so tall,but i like the shape.I was living in San Francisco for 2 months,i saw San Jose,Sacramento,Los Angeles,Las Vegas ,but San Francisco skyline is best.I think,the best place for picture is view from Tiburon.I took some pics.Greetings from Slovakia.:)

The SF skyline is perfect in every way. Nice boxy towers, nice colours and style, nice location, nice height. I think SF has one of the nicest skylines in the world. The bridges, hills and nature are also very, very nice! I want to go there some time. Wow.

I guess I must be the only one that thinks its overly brown and concrete. Its a beautiful city no doubt, situated very nicely, and the TA is a standout, but the skyline itself I don't care for at all. 6.5/10

It's a bit boxy, but the boxiness seems to fit for some reason. Great density. I think this is one of the most beautiful cities, both in man-made and natural factors.

I love the victorian houses, they are amazing, and symbols of SF. Also love the Golden Gate and all the nature surrounding the city. But the city centre is white/beige-boxy buildings. A little ugly IMO. But I give an 8.5.

San Francisco is a city that is better at street level than at 500+ ft. The same Planning Dept. often insists on street level retail in buildings so that the sidewalk experience is about as good as it gets, rivaling even Manhattan and some Asian cities. And the natural beauty, of course, is there. But those height limits . . . .

There are some major differences and, once again, SF suffers from its planning policies. SF actually has more taller buildings than Vancouver, but far fewer 30ish story residential buildings. While the aspirational home in Vancouver is often a highrise condo, in San Francisco it's a renovated Victorian or (for those barely able to scrimp together 7 figures :nuts:) a full-floor flat in one. Some San Franciscans would buy highrise condos, though, if the pesky planning process allowed more of them to be built and, in this case, the fault lies not so much with the professional planners as with the process that permits any NIMBY or small group of same to block anything.

Even in the past, skyscrapers were frowned upon by many residents of SF 'cause many believed it took away the natural beauty of the surroundings. I personally agree with you with San Francisco having one of the best sidewalk experience! I've been there in 2003, 2005, and last in late 2008. The city was sooo beautiful. Isn't there a supertall in the pipelines?

^^ Most of the tallest buildings you see were built in the 1960s to late 1980s time frame though. However, there was a substantial amount of construction in the 2000s. Not so sure about the '90s, but that decade seemed to be slow regarding construction. Besides SF looks good no matter what!
