There was a thread a while ago picturing a whole load of CJ designed buildings from the superb (Princess Exchange, Simpson Fold etc) to the lowest common demoninator (West Point and all the other godawful ones along Whitehall Road).

Whilst the quality of the architecture is to a certain extent driven by the client, given the obvious skills that Carey Jones have for designing sublime buildings if the client requires it, do they feel a professional obligation and indeed an obligation to the people of Leeds to encourage clients wanting a bland grey and terracotta clad building into something easier on the eye?

Also following on from this, is there actually a significant price differential between a well designed building such as Princess Exchange and a similarly sized legoland building?

Yeah, it took me ages to put that together!

You can view all the images on their website through the back-end by going here: http://www.careyjones.co.uk/images/ and clicking on the various images and folders to discover all they have deigned to put on their site.

Goth: ask them which buildings in Leeds they are most least/proud of and which buildings up and coming they are most excited about.

Also ask them about the general state of current architecture in Leeds and why do they think tall buildings are en vogue - plus any secrets you can squeeze out of them ;)

Well said Si!

If I remember, they were qouted as saying there was no need for tall buildings in Leeds, is this still the case? Also what are their feelings now to the proposed tall towers around Leeds?

Could they give us some dates for construction to begin on their projects?

Plus, are they working on any other exciting projects for Leeds, which they could tell us about?

1. What is the temperature in your city?
2. Name the first album you bought.
3. How tall are you?
4. How much do you weigh?
5. What's the best movie you've ever seen?

I suppose you'll be breaking any interesting news and potential projects Carey Jones are involved in on skyscrapernews.com then Gothic?

My aunt once said she had a tour round Carey Jones' penthouse apartment in Leeds City Centre. I disabused of this fact, but for some reason she didn't seem to believe Carey Jones were infact comprised of 2 different people. Gees, people today.

@ CharlieP, hope those aren't your first date questions old bean!

Gothic!

Any chance you could get an interview with one of the major Manchester developers?

Ian Simpson, Urban Splash, Dandara, Inacity?

Interestingly the first three of those have planned developments in Leeds (West Point - ISA, Kite Tower - Urban Splash, and a site in Holbeck Urban Village for Dandara). ;)

Any more info would indeed be peachy!

Always safest to ask the 'how much do you weigh' question prior to the first date IMO ;)

I would like to have asked 'what would you like to have been if you hadn't been an architect?' Sorry, thought I was on a saturday morning kids TV programme for a minute. :D

urban splash... hmmm... well a practise who does a lot of their work is supposed to be doing one but their architects arent too hot on following what management tell them to do. i will get info out of them. heh. reason ive been after carey jones is because they more than just about any practise are covering a wide range of developments and developers.

Gothic, are you ever going to let us know what the outcome of aforementioned interview was?

Kinda feeling that I wasted my time posting questions.
