First pic: stay away from digital zoom, your pictures come out looking like that.

3rd pic: shooting into the sun kills your sensor. Something to avoid in the future

yeah what the hell with the dont shoot in the sun thing? I have never heard of it before...

Well it's a general rule that you don't shoot into the sun if you actually want a good photo but I never knew it could cause physical damage to the camera.

It can and he is correct. My uncle physically burned out his sensor by shooting even a reflection of the sun off of the side of a building. Just be careful.

Digital zoom is making the pixils bigger. So putting your screen resolution down is basically digitally zooming your screen, and taking photos of the sun is like staring at the sun. Ouch. Congrats with your new cam! hope to see some nice pics outta that! :)

i did not know that. i occasionally have a habit of taking photographs like that for glare effects (using a dslr). nice to know

Fidler: If you can you should probably just turn off the digital zoom. Many cameras allow you to just turn it off as an option on one of the menu screens that come up when setting up the digicam.
