QFA plans $134m luxury Digital Sports hotel

Doha: The Qatar Football Association has announced two mega-projects that include a $134m seven-star luxury hotel and a $94m village dedicated to mobile telecommunication technology.

The 30-storey Digital Sports hotel is viewed as a pace-setter in the country's vibrant tourism industry, which is poised for a boom with the upcoming Asian Games in 2006.

What makes this new hotel so unique is the original concept of the digital sports gaming areas housed within the extra space of the hotel's exterior giving a beautiful and exciting façade to a deceivingly simple yet modern structure.

The Digital Sports Games space includes a floor dedicated to the Sports Competition Hall which will offer the chance to players to share their games with spectators.

This area will also include a fully equipped Sports Conference Hall for such events as sharing of sports knowledge, press meetings, sports stars interviews as well as sports, sports' product and event launches, cinema/projection room for live sporting action and live sports events from around the world.

All rooms will be digitally equipped with large flat screens and projection screens for all international sports channels as well as other TV and entertainment channels.

The activities here will include special sports management training through interactive digital software to encourage and promote a new league of professional sports managers.

the financial adviser to the projects is a relative of mine, and no...he's not lebanese, for u cynical people out there :D , so i'll ask him for some more infos on the projects, although my mind tells me that it's an intiative under the directions of the country's political command, bcoz the FA is so helpless to come up with such creative projects !!!

Hey cool, a sports hotel. :D
Just imagine:
A room with over 200 sports channels, Michael Jordan's deluxe suite, basketball floor panels, an American football bath soap, LOL.

Oh yea, we could also have a couple of sports stores on ground level. Seriously though, I love the idea.

I don't think this is an old render for the Aspire Tower...
I mean, Aspire Tower is nowhere near any kind of water.

Its not related to ASPIRE TOWER, but remember there was an article on the same day about a TELEPHONE village shaped like a phone. That idea was also abandoned.

Frankly, a lot of the towers are proposed then dissapear, and I dont know what happened to them. Then they reappear again and become underconstruction after years. Maybe its a money issue.
