After that shambolic performance and defeat against Northern Ireland, following a lacklustre performance and a deflected winner against Wales, and that disastrous 4-1 hammering in Denmark, it is time Ericsson did the decent thing and resigned. This was NI's first victory against England for 33 years, their first win against England in Belfast for 78 years - says it all really. We've no chance of winning the World Cup with this know-nothing fool in charge. He's utterly clueless and is pinching money from the supporters. Four million bleeding pounds a year for producing this unimaginative horseshite that passes for football. Overrated and overpaid underachievers - manager and footballers alike.

I think it is too late to sack him now, with less than 10 months till the World Cup. He should have gone after Euro2004.

If he were to be sacked now, I dont think there would be a suitable replacement. It would end up with a panic replacement.

----

Sven is indeed tactically clueless.

We have the best group of England players I have ever seen, yet we have a manager who will blow our chances.

Thats not to say Sven is totally to blame. The players must show more spirit and determination, and if Ferguson or Mourinho were England manager, Rooney would have been hauled off for swearing at the England captain after losing his head.

I have been saying for ages now, we cannot have Gerrard and Lampard together in centre mid. Certainly, they are the two best English central midfielders, but their game is too similar, meaning they cant both boss the game like they do for their clubs. If we played Gerrard for example, with a holding midfielder, he would be far more effective.

But, that is a secondary problem. The main problem is the inability of Ericsson to see the bleeding obvious. Most of the English public could pick the England team better than him - how difficult is it to play Beckham on the right and Joe Cole on the left?! Far more balance, rather than arsing around with Beckham as 'quarterback'.

I will get off my soapbox now.

One of the worse games of football I've seen in a long time. He doesnt have clue does he. He puts Rooney on the right, Beckham towards the back and Lampard Gerrard in no mans land. He needs a solid line up not a bag of shit. If your going to put Owen up front on his own he needs so some to play the ball through. Scholes has gone now so he needs to put someone up in a mid attacking role for the whole game. Why doesnt he put Lampard behind Owen and Rooney up front and then play the way we have done for ages.

There was absolutely no excuse for England's performance. Apart from the somewhat makeshift Luke Young, every one of England's players tonight are top-drawer players for their clubs. It's absolutely scandalous that they look so ragged when playing together as a team.

Add back in Gary Neville and John Terry or Sol Campbell (the only positions occupied by arguably second-choice players tonight) and we *should* have a team capable of winning the World Cup. Only problem is, it ain't going to happen with a manager who plays the key players out of position. Rooney clearly had no idea where he was supposed to be playing, nor, it seemed for most of the game, did Gerrard or Lampard, and David Beckham, despite being easily England's best player tonight, is wasted in that daft defensive midfielder role.

I'm not usually one for knee-jerk "sack the manager" reactions, but I think Sven's been getting away with being a mediocre manager with a very talented bunch of players for a long time now. I agree it's too late to sack him now, but I reckon only actually winning the World Cup itself will save him his job next summer.

Why waster money, Uncle made the trip tonight, he was furious... awful

Eriksson has no tactical knowledge, how can you play the likes of Luke Young when you have players like Curtis, Lescott top draw center backs who arent even being given a chance.

Why the fuck did he leave Glen Johnson out the team? sorry but the lads 10 times better then Young.

Ferdinand, well he should've pissed in the bottle, his a complete waster

Cole, losing the plot, he cant play in Svens formula, theres no room for his forward runs

Beckham played OK today, nothign special, quarterback role should be left in the NFL not in International football.

Gerrard and Lampard cant play in the same team, to similar

Wright-Phillips needs a bigger pitch but probably the first name I would put down on the team sheet after Rooney

Owne, well his a great finisher, but does little else, we need a target man to feed Rooney

OH AND BEFORE I FINISH MY RANT, I WAS SO AGGREVATED AGAINST DENAMRK WHEN ROONEY PLAYED OUT WIDE, SVENS RUINING OUR BEST FINISHER WEVE BREEDED IN YEARS. IM NOT SURE IF SVEN KNOWS THIS BUT "GOALS WIN YOU GAMES"

Sven OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As a Scotsman, I can't believe Sven has lasted for so long. It seemed like all 5 million of us realised just how tactically inept, and motivationaly devoid he was a long time before you guys down south did.

Now we can't say anything - we had bloody Berti-"I am a fucking robot"-Vogts for 3 years, but come on lads - Sven has been a pile of shite for years now! And to think Chelsea wanted him! God almighty - I don't mean this to be at all offensive, but have the English been wearing blindfolds for the past couple of years?

You guys have without doubt one of the BEST teams in the world right now. Your midfield is second to none. Seriously - I would kill to have half of the talent you guys have playing for Scotland.

But that performance tonight was a bloody disgrace! And it wasnt the first time you guys have looked so inept. So why did it take you all so long to realise this? As I said, you guys easily have one of the best teams in the world, so what the hell is the matter?

Get rid of the git - you should have done it a long time ago.

we have A good bunch of players with 2 or 3 top drawer players and sven has been in charge for years now. you'd think after 4/5 years as manager that he would have a settled team, settled tactics and formation, and had in the past half-decade been working on some long-term plan but he doesn't have a bloody clue what he is doing! we should've built on the last 3 or 4 years and gone from strength to strength but sven has fucked it up.
