View Full Version : New link between the International and Domestic terminals in CPH
TORONTOCOPENHAGEN September 8th, 2005, 08:07 AM Just came across an article on the CPH's (International airport in Copenhagen) website.
There's going to be build a new building on top of the existing gates in the Domestic terminal (Terminal 1). The idea is that this building will reduce noice from the airport and provide passengers with easier access to Terminal 1 and its gates from the international terminals (Terminals 2 and 3).
The whole project is expected to be complete by the end of 2006.
It looks nice and this part of the airport really needs it.

tournesol September 8th, 2005, 09:45 AM Looking good. And a welcome replacement of the transit busses. :)
cphdude September 8th, 2005, 05:48 PM Looks like they are planing on keeping the design modern and new...Looks pretty good, from what you can see...
thanx for finding this...
Hviid September 8th, 2005, 06:36 PM that looks pretty awesome! too bad there arent bigger renderings... but still, good find!
DenverDane September 8th, 2005, 06:46 PM Not bad but it would have been even cooler if they had extended the metro with another station at Terminal 1 or between 1 & 2.
I guess they can always do that later as well! ;)

since the station at the airport, will be an endstation when it opens, they will surely keep drilling and laying tracks after the station, so the trains can turn around again...I guess that would make room for an extra station...Though i dont know how far the station they are planing, is from the actual terminal...Anyone know?
staff September 8th, 2005, 08:27 PM Looks cool. I hope it will be as slick as the rest of the airport.

Won't be possible. The station - which is allready quite far in the construction process - is ending right at the tip off terminal 3.
And it's above ground so no drilling is involved at all. If the trains would go any further ahead they would end up INSIDE the terminal at first floor height!
It was planned in the early layout for the metro to continue the line to the domestic terminal, but it got cut away for economic reasons.
cphdude September 9th, 2005, 04:13 PM ^^ oh okay...Just normaly when it is and endstation, they have something ekstre, to turn them around or take them off...I mean, if a train braks down at the airport, they have to tow it the same way out, before they can make room for another train? and where would that be? do you follow me? That doesnt make much sence?
TORONTOCOPENHAGEN September 10th, 2005, 10:17 AM Cphdude: I don't think it is problem. At Vanloese Station it isn't possible for the trains to turn around either :-)
Enjoy your weekend!
tournesol September 12th, 2005, 10:00 AM Torontocopenhagen allready gave you the answer I was going to give you.
Vanløse is just exactly that kind of station. And a train broken down anywhere on the lines would be problematic, so thats nothing unique to the last station on the line.
cphdude September 12th, 2005, 06:30 PM Actually it is always a problem, if its an endstation. If the train brakes down, you only have 1 track useble, for both directions. If you were able to just store a train after the endstation, it would be a lot faster, if it broke down and had to be moved. Vanløse may alos be this way, but that that is also stupid. You risk very long delays if a train braks down, and you dont have anywhere to store it....They have to come from nørreport i guess, and drive the train all the way to west-amager...Imagen that situation in rush hour...I sted, thay could have just stored the train after the endstation, and then moved it at night, when the lines ware not busy....
TORONTOCOPENHAGEN September 14th, 2005, 08:05 AM CPH DUDE: I see your point, but it isn't a problem if one train breaks down. A few hundred meters from Vanløse Station, the tracks cross eachother, so the trains can keep using two tracks almost till the they arrive at the Station. If a damaged train is at one track at the station, the incoming train will simply change tracks.
This is very poorly explained, but I am short of time.
Peter
cphdude September 14th, 2005, 04:02 PM It may not be an actual probem, but it will still be a very big inconvinience for the prople using the metro....If onle 1 track is useble that is...
