I've been to Santiago and was very impressed by all the skyscrapers they have. There's a lot of ugly apartment buildings but also some nice modern towers mixed in. Like other Latin American cities, the buildings are scattered all over the city. But overall it's pretty cool.

The skyline will change dramatically in two of the three city clusters, in "Las Condes" District there are projects for towers about 50 floors, and a new complex called "Nueva Las Condes", with several new high rises.

I hope when all those projects are built, your opinion of Santiago improves.

Providencia is one of the richest district in Santiago, many of those building that you look at on that picture are pretty much expensive, and they aren´t commie blocks buildings.

Btw in providencia you won´t find dwelling houses

Great city with a wide variety of architecture , it has no tall buildings but I guess they don't even need it here.Prime location to.
Reminds me a little of Denver,CO but it looks much nicer to me.

Santiago Rulez!!!
I go every summer to spend a month there, the city is beautiful.
I think the best parts of the city are: Providencia, Downtown and Las Condes.

Es moderno, pero le falta masividad, impresion al skyline, los pocios edificoos altos estan muy separados, talvez por que la ciudad es bastante extensa en area. No me gusto la foto donde se aprecia tanto smog.

the background (mountains, trees) is very pretty, but the skyline is not so impressive. the taller buildings aren't badly designed but they're not impressive either. i think the city needs more iconic and taller buildings. afterall this is the capitol of chile, it needs more stand out features. but nothing that will ruin the beauty of the place. incidently, how far away from the sea is santiago? i always thought the sea was close, but it is nowhere to be seen on the images above.
The ocean is over 90miles away and is separated from Santiago by the Coastal Moutain Range. Due to a history of tectonic activity (earthquakes), tall buildings have historically been shunned in Santiago until fairly recently. Most of the taller builidngs are now being built east of downtown, which makes them look much more spread out than they may otherwise be.

I travel to South America a lot and I think Santiago is one of the most vibrant and exciting cities to visit. The mountains in the background make it even more beautiful. And if you love red wine, try the Carmenere instead of the Cabernet or Merlot.

Allright people, over here I leave you an excellent render of Santiago Skyline by 2010.
Now the city is getting two impressive towers that are going to change definitelly the city´s face.

-The first one (left) is going to have 52 floors and 181m tall, it´s called Titanium Tower
-The second one (right) it is a Cesar Pelli´s design building, is going to have 257m tall and about 64 stories, called Gran Costanera Tower
Both buildings are U/C.

I love my city's skyline! 9/10

Good skyscrapers/inhabitants ratio and good architecture.

Also the skyline is split into different parts, so for judging Santiago as a whole, many picts must bee seen.
