Tall Rog September 11th, 2005, 12:59 PM Well I have to say that is a bit of a surprise. Never knew the place existed!
Looks rather impressive. You should post it as a poll and see what rating it gets.....
Football is quite big in the Middle East and North Africa, isn't it? I was in Jordan a few years back when they won the inter Arab Cup (or what ever it is called). The whole city effectively shutdown for the evening because everyone was too busy celebrating... :)
I suspect Morten M is the sort of idiot who has never traveled outside his home country let a lone outside Europe... so what they hell does he know.
arash September 11th, 2005, 01:06 PM Could some one please make a poll for me.!! cause i really dont know how to..

teunster September 11th, 2005, 10:30 PM Nope, I will bash every Iranian thread as long as things like these keep occuring..
arash September 12th, 2005, 01:13 AM Is the Azadi an all-seater?
http://www.fussballtempel.net/afc/IRN/Azadi.html
That picture is VERY VERY old.!! :runaway:
arash September 12th, 2005, 01:14 AM www.Sercan my friend your picture is VERY old and yes its an all seater stadium
www.sercan.de September 12th, 2005, 01:55 AM oh
but so the capacity is now under 100,000???
ExSydney September 12th, 2005, 07:41 AM I doubt that its a 120,000 all seater. It just looks no where near that.It may of fitted 120,000 with terracing and masses of standing room areas, but it just doesnt look big enough.
I would say that its around 80,000-90,000 max .
arash September 12th, 2005, 09:17 AM oh
but so the capacity is now under 100,000???
Yes but you and sydney are very correct..
It has a capcity of 120.000 people
but due to Security reasons only around 75.000 and 80.000 people are allowed into the stadium..!!
:) The Clubs Esteghlal and persepolis tehran is currently building 2 stadiums wich they will use in the future..they will now move out from the Azadi stadium wich will be remained for the National team of Iran
Gilgamesh September 12th, 2005, 10:02 AM I doubt that its a 120,000 all seater. It just looks no where near that.It may of fitted 120,000 with terracing and masses of standing room areas, but it just doesnt look big enough.
I would say that its around 80,000-90,000 max .
It is a 120,000 all seater, now the fact that they don't let in more than 80,000 people anymore is b/c of preventing riots happening again, like after the Iran-Japan game in May, But it is a 120,000 all seater. Why would we say that it's a 120,000 all seater if it isnt? :)
hngcm September 12th, 2005, 10:12 AM What does Azadi mean?
www.sercan.de September 12th, 2005, 01:25 PM yes
acoording to most sites it had a capacity of 110,000-120,000 without seats
now "only" 100,000 :D
BTW
show us more pics :D
and do you have pics of the new proposed stadiums?
How is Mustafa Denizli at Pas?
Gilgamesh September 12th, 2005, 10:28 PM What does Azadi mean?
As ironic as it might sound...Azadi=Freedom :D
hngcm September 13th, 2005, 03:32 AM ...too easy
Anyways, I heard somewhere that it meant Aztec, and I'm like, hells no, there's only one Aztec Stadium in this world.
ExSydney September 13th, 2005, 04:22 AM It is a 120,000 all seater, now the fact that they don't let in more than 80,000 people anymore is b/c of preventing riots happening again, like after the Iran-Japan game in May, But it is a 120,000 all seater. Why would we say that it's a 120,000 all seater if it isnt? :)
So,at this game there are 80,000 spectators
http://www.tehran24.com/images/iaranvsjapan01.jpg
In other words, there are 40,000 VACANT seats at this game.
120,000 all seater?????????????
www.sercan.de September 13th, 2005, 04:38 AM it looks a little bit like the NSK Olimpiys'kyi in the Ukraine (83,450 all-seater)
http://www.fussballtempel.net/uefa/UKR/Olympiyskiy.jpg
http://www.fussballtempel.net/uefa/UKR/Olympiyskiy3.jpg
http://www.stadionwelt.de/stadionwelt_stadien/templates/stadionlisten/ukraine/nsk_olimpiyskyi/100.jpg
we have to count the rows :D
ExSydney September 13th, 2005, 04:58 AM Actually Azadi reminds me more of the old Estadio da Luz in Lisbon.
http://galeb.etf.bg.ac.yu/~mirad/Stadioni/benfica.jpg
It seated 80,000,but during its standing room days regually squeezed 120,000 in there.
Giorgio September 13th, 2005, 05:26 AM Motan Ms a fag.

Gilgamesh September 13th, 2005, 03:19 PM So,at this game there are 80,000 spectators

120,000 all seater?????????????
NO, I said following the riots of the Iran-Japan game hence the games played after that.
See the empty seats ;)

http://tinypic.com/do1jd5.jpg
Now when it's clear that it is a 120.000 stadium and you were wrong, can we move on? ;)
www.sercan.de September 13th, 2005, 03:29 PM freedom
actually the problem is that it doesn't look like a 120,000 all-seater
the "old" stadium Australia had a capacity of 113,000 (all-seater) during the Olympics
http://www.sportsvenue-technology.com/projects/2003rugby/images/StadiumAustralia_04.jpg
maybe you know the number of the rows?
that could help us
Thank you
ExSydney September 13th, 2005, 03:57 PM It still looks way too small to be 120,000 all seater, compared to other 80,000++ seat venues across the world.
MoreOrLess September 13th, 2005, 04:14 PM It still looks way too small to be 120,000 all seater, compared to other 80,000++ seat venues across the world.
Perhaps a good potion of the "seats" are infact benchs as in many US collage football grounds that also look a little smaller to me than their capacitys would suggest. That would also explain limating the capacity to stop riots aswell since benchs can be effectly the same as stands with no allocated places, hence you can have less than the max capacity but still have a stadium that looks full just with a less dense crowd.

Because I called some undemocratic leaders for terorrist then I'm a fag. :weirdo:
Köbtke September 14th, 2005, 10:05 AM I was wondering; I saw this segment on Futbol Mundial, about the Iranian national team a while ago. Where they, among many other things, followed a group of women to a game (it might have been the Japan game, but I can't remember), because it was very rare, that women had been granted access to the stadium, for a match. They had to use a special entrance, arrive a good deal of time in advance and so on.
My question is: Is it still the same, or are the rules on women at football games more loose now? Since there are a number of women on the pictures posted here.
Gilgamesh September 14th, 2005, 09:18 PM It still looks way too small to be 120,000 all seater, compared to other 80,000++ seat venues across the world.
LoL, i shall correct myself. It isn't a 120.000 allseater but not an 80.000. It's actually a 100.000 all seater but it has a higher capcity with vacant seats.
Sorry i guess i should have re-checked my info :) and sorry if i sounded rude before.

NMAISTER007 July 26th, 2009, 11:52 PM If it wasn't for the colors, this stadium would have looked really similar to the old olympic stadium in kiev (Which is being reconstructed right now).

likasz December 8th, 2011, 05:14 PM hello Lorevi and all iranian users!
Can you post something about indoor arenas in your country?
Evil78 December 8th, 2011, 05:52 PM For some reason, this one looks cool to me. Almost like a scene from the movie Gladiator.
Looks more like Mordor to me, in the background. :)
Back on topic:
Nice to see that sports infrastructure is a priority in Iran. With all those big stadiums Iran could even attempt to host a WC final tournament in the future. (of course, after they resolve their "taking over the world with nuclear weapons" issues with the other FIFA member nations )
Topher51 December 8th, 2011, 06:37 PM I like the look of most of these stadiums, but in many of them the fans who sit in the cheap seats (like myself) are very far from the pitch and not that high. Seems to be a really bad perspective to watch a match.
