I like this building..Its nothing special really, but i feel like it makes a difference in its own way...As you come from muharraq, towards manama, going to King Faisal Highway....Nice little addition...

Btw i noticed the other day that on a clear day you can see the third Shaikh Khalifa bridge all the way from the other one...Linked to King faisal highway..Dunno what its called...I think Shaikh Isa bridge...The one with the flags..Its an interesting faraway sort of view... :)

Bahrain Tribune - 04/12/2005

A multi-storey office block is to be developed within the Diplomat Radisson SAS Hotel complex, Bahrain Tribune has learnt.

Director of Sales and Marketing Yigit Sezgin said feasibility studies for the new project have already begun and "one of those studies should be finalised soon."

"This will be another big step for the Diplomat in Bahrain towards building a city within a city," Sezgin said. "We are almost ready with the Diplomat Residence and this should be ready for occupancy towards the middle of next year."

Sezgin also revealed plans to completely refurbish the hotel spa and said a leading Thai company had been contracted to manage it.

"We have had a fairly good occupancy rate over the last year and it peaked at a high 92 per cent last month. We are sure there are exciting times ahead for the hospitality industry in the Kingdom and we will be one of the major players."

Speaking highly about Bahrainis in the industry, Sezgin said Bahrain had taken rapid strides in the field. "We are very encouraged that Bahrainis at least work in hotels. This is a refreshing change from many other countries in the region."

He said, however, the government has to ensure that there are adequate training facilities in the field so as to avoid import of expertise. "The services levels in Bahrain are way above Europe and the United States and we have to make sure we not only sustain that level but also build on it."

He said Bahrain had developed tremendously in the last few years. "We have to be prepared for that development and have to be part of that and this expansion will stand us in good stead."

Actually they'll sort the facade out of the old hotel, heard and read it somewhere. They'll have to do it anyways cause it'll look out of place.
