View Full Version : Скопје - Нов мост преку Вардар | Skopje - New bridge over Vardar river
dejan September 14th, 2005, 03:08 AM A week ago, a new bridge was put into use over the river Vardar in Skopje. It solved a lot of traffic problems.
It costed over 3 million euro's to build, it's 134.6 metres and wide 23.7 metres. It joins up the street 'Nikola Karev' and 'Belasitza'. It is not entirely finished, the side stairs that lead up to it should be done soon and some other minor things. It will serve as a bicycle way too and walking path.
And here a some pictures! ;)

Sarajka September 14th, 2005, 03:13 AM It'll never beat the one you already had. ;) If you need a bridge, ask the Ottomans. :D

But congrats! :) It looks like a normal, modern city bridge. :D

MIMICA September 14th, 2005, 06:02 AM Good bridge! I’m happy such construction projects are occurring in Skopje. I only wish we had more information on this wonderful city. :)
Football Rules September 14th, 2005, 07:35 AM Yes, very little info on Skopje here.
I am sure the city has a lot of projects going, it's just hard to gather information on the web.
dejan September 14th, 2005, 11:50 AM Yeah it does have a lot more, but the news sites don't say anything unless it's something big. But i do have a picture of a new pedestrian bridge built over the river:D It is 114.5 metres long.

dejan September 14th, 2005, 11:57 AM I changed the topic slightly so that other new things could be put here about Skopje:)
Well the municipality of Karposh say that it will put asphalt (and they've done already) over the streets in the village of 'Bardofci' and 'Zlokuchjani' because they had to be dug up so that canalisation could be put through properly.

dejan September 14th, 2005, 12:02 PM Got something else too, not too new, should be finished by now.
Another pedastrian bridge in Karposh (like that one up there^^)

Medofish September 14th, 2005, 12:44 PM I'm glad to hear/see this ;)
dejan September 14th, 2005, 01:35 PM Thanks:)
Some more constructions in this area!!
This is in the suburb, Karposh 2.
Because of all the students and just usual people that are in this specific area, around the streets, getting around, a new type of bridge is being built so that these people can get around more efficiently, the cost is 1million euro. It's basically an 'over ground pedestrian bridge' ;)

According to the site, this will be like a pedastrian crossing over the bulevard street 'Partizanski Odredi' because that is where the main combustion of people and cars are, a potential accident could happen. It will have escalators and lifts because it will also have small shops too. The highest point will be 36 metres where as the actual pedestrian part 5.5 metres high.

edolen1 September 14th, 2005, 09:01 PM Ahh, those Yugos and Zastavas remind me of the days they were everywhere around here. Boy, things sure changed in the last 10 years..
Anyway, back to the topic, the bridge looks very nice and modern. How long did it take to build it?
dejan September 15th, 2005, 02:12 AM I believe it was 2 years, coz construction started in 2003 i think!
