I missed half the season, but the finale was actually quite good. The top 10 seem to be better than last year's, and the winner is definetly better than the past two idols....not to mention that this is the first female crowned. Melissa O'Neil is 17 years of age and resides in Calgary, Alberta. Her new single is "Alive".

I still don't get why CTV insists on staying in that tiny little theatre at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre for the finale. I mean, it's great for the top 10 as it has 1,300 seats but the stage is a too small and overall it seems too cramped for the finale.

Can't wait for World Idol though ! Come on BBC!

Huuurray... another trendy, market pleasing hack will be pumped into the already overcrowded and under talented pop scene... excuse me if I don't give a shit.

Not sure why anyone else does...

I watched most of the top ten but I was disappointed with the lack of talent. Melissa probably had the best voice so it's good she won. I've been addicted to where the real talent has been and that's Rockstar INXS. Being one of my favourite bands I was apprehensive on them doing this but it's turned out ok.

Well, I must say CTV put on a really good production for the finale. Everything was high quality, except for a couple dead mikes. Melissa O'Neil deserved to win as much as Rex Goudie, but I think Goudie has more star quality. However, the advantage of being from a province of 3.2 million people, as opposed to 512,000 people probably went a long way in helping O'neil to win.

CTV put on a good show. I hope Melissa has a successful carreer.

I'm happy to see a female, Calgarian, mixed-race person win, but will never listen to a word of any of her music (not by choice anyway).

What does Canadian Idol have to do with Canadian urban issues, let alone skyscrapers? Threads like this should just be deleted it. It's a waste of space.

A lot of things could be deleted. It has nothing to do with urban issues.

It's just a part of today's "cultural experience", and sometimes regional pride. Where's the CBC BTW?

Melissa's very attractive. I was happy to see her win too. Canadian Idol has already had two males, it's the opposite sex's turn now. :)
