Just curious. If money wasn't an issue, which would you rather live in for New York City.... A highrise penthouse, or a large historic single-family brownstone?

If money wasn't an issue, which would you rather live in for New York City.... A highrise penthouse, or a large historic single-family brownstone? cincobarrio September 16th, 2005, 03:10 AM Penthouse because I would want a nice view of Mid/Downtown Manhattan (if it were up to me). - My friend moved from a 42nd street, 44th floor apartment to a brownstone on 11th street and say's that he really misses the view he had of the Chrysler Building and whatnot. DarkFenX September 16th, 2005, 03:13 AM Penthouse. I would enjoy seeing the skyline of New York from high up. If you live low, you pretty much miss most of NYC. firmanhadi September 16th, 2005, 03:14 AM Penthouse. Brownstone can be burglarized (remember that movie, "Panic Room"?), with Penthouse you can lock it up and go. ROCguy September 16th, 2005, 03:22 AM Well I feel alone. lol. I would choose a brownstone. I think they are awsome. You get the best of New York City street level life, oh yeah, and they are BEAUTIFUL. StormShadow September 16th, 2005, 05:37 AM I kinda like the Brownstone sfenn1117 September 16th, 2005, 05:41 AM Penthouse. Brownstone can be burglarized (remember that movie, "Panic Room"?), with Penthouse you can lock it up and go. Panic Room! lol that movie was ok. I would choose penthouse. BUT I'd rather live in a brownstone than a low floor of a skyscraper. It would have to be the penthouse or very close to it, preferably 30+ stories up. I want the penthouse of 325 fifth to get an upclose view of ESB! bagel September 16th, 2005, 05:41 AM I would love to live in a brownstone-- the whole building too.. not just one floor of a brownstone. i_am_hydrogen September 16th, 2005, 06:06 AM Brownstone - I like being closer to the street level; it makes me feel more connected. B.Tinoff September 16th, 2005, 07:27 AM Browners. Lili September 16th, 2005, 09:46 AM Depending on the location-- a Brownstone in Park Slope, Brooklyn; a penthouse in Manhattan. swivel September 16th, 2005, 07:10 PM le penthouse.. 360* views.. somewhere around CPW.... ROCguy September 17th, 2005, 05:47 AM I would love to live in a brownstone-- the whole building too.. not just one floor of a brownstone. Yeah, that was what I was talking about. The whole house. It is a no-brainer to me. But that is just my preference UrbanSophist September 17th, 2005, 06:22 AM Brownstone. The classic "New York experience". Dennis September 17th, 2005, 12:06 PM TRUMP WORLD TOWER TalB September 18th, 2005, 05:43 AM If money were no object, then I would choose to live the good life, which is the penthouse. 7 World Trade September 18th, 2005, 06:32 PM i think penthouse living's sorta overrated. i personally prefer to live in a brownstone, rite in the midst of the city instead of hundreds of feet above it. makes you feel more connected to the city instead of being isolated in your own world at the top of the skyscraper you live in. still, living at the top of the trump int'l hotel would be quite nice, given the central park view it has. TalB September 19th, 2005, 05:55 AM I don't think that it is, and it usually gives nice views of the city as well as being located on prestigous addresses. Third of a kind September 20th, 2005, 12:06 AM I'd take the brownstone anyday somwhere around 119th between 2nd and first...but I would prefer a rowhouse in the bronx hella good September 20th, 2005, 08:35 AM penthouse - think of the views STR September 21st, 2005, 01:22 AM If money where no object, I'd build a 2,000 foot tall CN tower-like structure with my four floor penthouse on top where I'd look down at all you ants with contempt. ROCguy September 21st, 2005, 01:42 AM ^^ Somebody is power-hungry. STR September 21st, 2005, 05:34 AM ^I'm that too, but my previous statement was meant as an arrogant expression of elitism and percieved supremacy. DonQui September 21st, 2005, 06:28 AM penthouse. Marco Polo October 15th, 2005, 11:30 PM penthouse somewhere close to the rockefeller / citicorp. I like this part of town. |
