Don't get toooo excited or anything!!!! ;)

Holy! This is great great news... those apartments look AMAZING... very luxurious and well-designed... :eek2:

The thing I like about downtown Johannesburg developments is that they are so high-quality and exclusive.. there are very rare, and you've got to love the fancy website ;)

haha, anyways, I would take this development over many in South Africa at the moment... the downtown Johannesburg changes are slowly picking up... ever so slowly, but still...

I can't wait till a day when there are more of these beautiful developments around the city, each with their own style, qualities, logo, people, and history...

I am definitely excited about this because it is unique... Cape Town and Durban are exploding with identical developments it seems sometimes... but this is in a class of its own!!

Thanks, Joburg

"Shakespeare Place is the first of many. Ten buildings, all bought and owned by Urban Ocean will transform the inner city of Johannesburg into a neighbourhood of unprecedented wealth and magnificence.

40 000m² of fashion retail, restaurants, entertainment, health spas, apartments and upmarket office space will link together into a new-worldly vision of excellence, style, design and functionality – with a projected completion in 2010, ready for the Soccer World Cup.

Shakespeare Place is groundbreaking, the first of the new wave, and therefore, it has the most potential of rising in value. It all makes sense. It is who you are. It is who you want to be. Become part of the city – live where the action is. Live here."

Far higher quality development than most in Toronto right now- and to me, that definitely says alot. Sophisticated and breathtaking pic, to me, anyway:

From that grand old, substantial stone exterior you'd never know that it's so modern inside... you wouldn't think there'd be anything in Central Joburg like it...

anyways, I'm used to these weak-looking little glass condos, so seeing a development like this in a substantial old building like that is just lovely... fresh, modern inside, historical outside...

I think it's near where that one sort-of retail development is. Andrew do you remember posting a thread about it? I can't remember exactly what it was called, but it was going to have a green grocer/florist/bakery/deli etc and it was very near to Corner House.

87 Commissioner? :) It's on the big list of developments.. check that thread :)

Anyways, I have got us a goodie... an exclusive ;)...a picture of the old art deco exterior of Shakespeare Place:

The 87 Commissioner development is by the same guys as the Stanley Lofts/ Milpark thing-a-ma-jigger, so it's a seperate thing from this UrbanOcean development.
