Here is Newmarket, Ontario, another of the communities I took pictures of earlier this summer in July during my Owen Sound-Barrie-Newmarket tour. Newmarket is a town north of Toronto (Population 75,000) near Highway 400 and on Highway 11. While is a sprawly community, it does have a very charming downtown, although some of its buildings downtown have been plagued with cheesy landlords who put aluminum siding on some of the buildings. Newmarket may be best known as the birthplace of Canadian actor and comedian JIM CARREY.

One tastless landlord, Tony wouldn't be happy about that. :)

Hope you enjoyed this one. Newmarket does not feel like a Toronto suburb at all in those pictures.

Coming soon, Drayton/Palmerston, new STRATFORD gallery, new LONDON gallery!

Looks like a nice quaint place Jay.
I can't say I've ever been there.

Looks like Newmarket did a good job with their new streetscape design.

Very Canadiana.

Quaint indeed. Though it looks more like the downtown of a city of 20,000 than one of 75,000 -- that's what happens when small communities become over-run by sprawl and experience rapid growth..

If only that was the 'real' newmarket ;)
