it's big but not in a good condition now. it's old you know, built during bung karno's govt. if you read koran bola, many of the reporters have complained about the restrooms, the seats, etc. i hope the city will hurry up in upgrading it, cos if i'm not mistaken the 2007 soccer asian cup will be held there, no?

Yeah, the seats are uncomfortable and the toilets are just disgusting. They really need to upgrade the stadium.

This was the largest stadium on earth when completed in 1962 to host the Asian Games. it was built using Russian assistance, the same architect and engineering team that had built the Lenin stadium in Moscow. it could accomodate 100.000 people, but as i hear it, they're in the form of benches right? i've never been there.

Man, I am hardcore fan of Indonesian football, call me crazy but yes, i do love the crowds and the games but not the chaos, especially PSSI and its club's fans. I was there during the 8 besar, the game was pretty okay but the referees are such a moron.

if you're watching Indonesian football there's so much.. even i would say..huge potential to be developed in terms of the footballer, the crowds, the stadium, the club, and all other things that have relation to football. As the stadium itself, i wonder why there is still fewer club that really have stadium for football itself? Like Persija with Lebak Bulus stadium, which is really football stadium, no athletic fields around the football field. I'm talking about stadium like in england, where the atmosphere really gives you excitement to watch the game. And how about the club profesionallism, which many clubs still depend on their local goverment budget, not totally independent, which is contrary to the many football clubs in europe...is there any vision to become the worlds biggest football industry?? Only god knows that...

For the pitch, vip facilities and resting room are in good condition, especially the pitch, senayan have the best pitch and grass in south east asia.

the renovation is taking place now in preparation for the Asian CUP 2007, Indonesia is a host along with thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam.

In my opinion, why senayan can hold until approx 100,000 spectators, it because most of them are not sitting on the seats/benchs (around 90% of it).

Yep, Gotcha... that's what I thought as well.... such a "pity" that we have to reduce its capacity. I really really hope that Jakarta (or Indonesia) could own a stadium that is representable for holding international sport events (on par with MCG :) ) ... but not to worry, rumor has it that KALTIM is in the process of building a new stadium for the National Sports Week (PON), I heard that It will certainly rival GBK.... (keep my fingers crossed)...

Yes, Kaltim is now building a new stadium to host PON in 2008, Palembang did the same thing back in 2004. I guess its good to see PON being hosted in area outside Java Island.

Btw, the new design(kaltim stadium) reminds me of Sleman new stadium which is underconstruction right now.

As of today, there are four international-standard's stadium in indonesia.

1. Senayan GBK - 100,000 max capacity
2. Jakabiring Palembang - 40,000 max capacity
3. Kanjuruhan Malang - 60,000 Max Capacity

Last time I went there, I take ticket at the booth outside.
Then inside the parking attendant asking for money again.
When I leave the complex, I have to pay the ticket that I took when I went in.

Oh, I wasnt visiting the stadium, but Jakarta Hilton Convention Center.
