Do you think Falash Mura (Ethiopian Jews) is good for Israel's future population and World Jewish Population???
Because their birth rate is very high...? Am I right?

What is your problem? Perhaps others feel your neighborhood is too homogeneous and it is ruining the achdut amongst all the Jewish people of the diaspora, including Israelis.

The only question here is who is Jewish according to halacha. As long as people are really Jewish, then that's wonderful. If people are moving into Israel under the pretense of being Jewish, like some of the people from the Soviet Union, or its recently founded independent countries, then it is a problem.

What does that have to do with the question MakkabI asked?

And where should the Ethiopians live? Maybe pass a law that only 2 familes can live on any given dunam? Perhaps there should be forces breakups of homogeneous groups, force them into socially-engineered collective farms or something.

*pats everythingione on the head and slowly walks away*

the problem is on the contrary - it's been government misplanning that put them together into the same neighborhoods, on the basis of immigration and repatriation centers. Stick a bunch of people from a different country in the same place is a certain recipy for lack of assimilation.

Azazel, don't tell Zohar that. He will accuse you of being against Israel.

While it may be contrary to efforts for assimilation to house like-groups of immigrants together, there is no room for government sanctioned forced separation in order to promote a social-experiment of assimilation. The purpose of the governemt assistence is to make the move to Israel easier for people. It just so happens that this may translate into like-people live together.

Pro:

1) Ethiopians are very hard working and quick learners.
2) They suffered greatly in Ethipia, jewish or not
3) Colour of skin or external features doesnt make you less jewish.

Cons:

1) Most are very religious but the orthodox are very racist and dont accept them
2) They have hard time with modern customs
3) The young that speak hebrew are disrespectful to the elders causing family problems
4) They live in ghettos and only marry and socialize with each other
5) Integration with israeli culture shock is hard for them even after many years
6) demand to bring thousands of half or even non-jew relatives from Ethiopia on
top of the 100,000 here another 50-100,000 at least.

so all in all, I think we could have helped them financially and moral support to enhance their judaism in ethiopia.. ok, so Israel is opne to any jew in the world
especially if they are in trouble of some kind but their integration was a disaster we will be facing for generations.. so Im not sure it was justified in these numbers and certainly not the falash mura, tomorrow we will have 10 million mexicans who caim they discovered they are rom a lost son of moses.. already we have these "discoveries" in india (30 million) in zimbabwe (tribe keeping shabbat rules)
etc.. ok ok, so they want to escape to a better life - but dont use our religion for it..

There is a real danger that if the breakup of their internal social structure wouldn't be absorbed by others, they'll recrystalize as a problematic subculture. we have the beginnings of that now. But also, some good stuff is happening, also.

yes I predict in 10 years:

1) Ethiopian ghetto music
2) More Ethiopian sportsmen becoming celebraties
3) They start a bling-bling hip-hop dress culture coming into fashion
4) The Cosby Show staring moses masala from Ashkelon.
5) Adiso Powell and Condolisa Jerusalema become first ethiopian-origin to be Israeli foreign minister
