i am not sure if this is the right place...but i noticed that Canada shares a skybar with Americans, and this is directed to Canadians only, mods please move it if this forum does not allow any topics that are not related skyscrapers.

I am an international student from China. I will be applying for Canadian universities this year. I want to go into life science program (not that I like it, but i dont have many choices). I wanna know what Canadian universities have good life science programs (undergraduate) and what their admisson average would be. (for Canadian students, i heard for international students it's a bit lower, but not much).

it would be even better if this university has a good commerce program, i might transfer to commerce after first year if i really dont like life science.

I am currently looking at McMaster, Queen's and McGill. but i still need more input from you esp if you graduated from those universities or you are currently attneding them, i am really confused now.

thanks for your help.

If your into research type of stuff than pick McMaster. It's currently Canada's research university of the year. Plus McMaster is building a massive research park called Research and Innovative Park, dealing mostly with biotech and material research (such as metal).

That's the DeGroote Centre for Learning & Discovery which by the way opens officially tomorrow. It's a brand new science building mostly all laboratory and medical stuff.

For Ontario, definitely McMaster. Queens is great also. However, if you ever consider heading out west, UBC is also well-known for its life sciences program.

Stay away from UT though.

If you are also interested in commerce, Queens might be the ideal choice. UBC's Sauder is also quite well-known on the West Coast.

U. of Alberta in Edmonton also has a good reputation.

UBC has a good reputation for both its life science program and commerce program (now known as the Sauder School of Business after a $20 million donation). Entrance requirement should be somewhere in the 80's for life science, but higher for commerce I think.

For life sciences, try the health sciences program at MacMaster. Apparently it's rather difficult to get into though. They accept, what, 50 people a year? Where is this coming from.

Commerce or business? Try Toronto's York University. I've heard a lot of good news about its Schulich Business Program.

"TORONTO, ON - Wednesday, September 21, 2005 - The Schulich School of Business at York University was today ranked among the top 15 international business schools in the world in The Wall Street Journal’s annual global survey of corporate recruiters.

Schulich ranked 15th in the world and 6th among North American business schools, and was one of only two business schools in Canada to make The Wall Street Journal’s “Top International Schools” survey. Schulich ranked ahead of Chicago, Harvard and Stanford in the international schools ranking."

It also offers "North America’s first ever cross-border Executive MBA degree, the Joint Kellogg-Schulich Executive MBA".
