Okay, I am not a Londoner - or a Brit - so I feel no embarrassment about starting this one. In some ways its an antidote - but not attack, on Potto's 'The Ugly Truth About London.'
Accepting that the city never had the grand makeover that Paris had, let's see some of the lovelist public buildings and places that have come down throught the ages. I'll avoid the obvious, Sir Charles Barry's Houses of Parliament (I think they're superb), and nominate this one.
For me, even the bricks and windows of Sir Francis Fowke/Alfred Waterhouse's Natural History Museum have a warm and inviting feeling.
I think my wife feels the same about the second nomination (pictures 3&4):

A bit off the cliched tourist trail but 'so London' it should be on every visitors itiniery. Indeed when i want to escape the throngs of West End visitors it is here i pop into to get a dose of British eccentricity :D.

I love the Natural History Museum. I love the Grand Hall of British Museum as well. Parts of Hyde Park are great.
