Today was Car Free Day across Canada. My friends and I walked to school, and my brother took the subway to work. Same number of cars today though, I don't think that many people were aware.

Almost everyday is car free day for me. I always take PT because we don't have a car. :)

I don't usually drive either.

I forgot it was a special day, but there was some Torontonian on the bus today who was blabbing to anyone who would listen about how rinky dink Vancouver's rush hour is in comparison. Apparently, you aren't even able to see the road during Toronto's rush hour. :blahblah:

The traffic here didn't seem any different than usual though.

I was in Vancouver recently and it certainly has its problem spots.

I believe these are of the Burrard Street Bridge heading into the city core at in the mid-afternoon.

... And the city council is planning to get rid of one line in each direction on the bridge to make room for bike path...

Being stuck on Lion's Gate during rush hour is even more of a headache. How it remains to be a 3-lane bridge is beyond me.

I suppose I am the lucky one here. Everyday for me is car free day. I ride my bike 20 kilometers a day to work and back for over 4 years. When I debate the pros and cons it becomes very simple. Especially with the price of gas.
Of course some days are better then others but you dress warm for the cold days wear rain gear for the rainy days and make sure you have good snow tires if it snows.
Nothing wrong with keeping in shape helping the environment.
I am not your granola eating environment freak but I do what feels right without bragging about it.

The traffic on that bridge is crazy... That is one reason I like living in Regina :)... takes about 20 minutes to get to the opposite end of the city on the "Ring Road" :D...

And bikes aren't really an option in winter here :(... have fun riding a bike in -40 weather... and colder with the wind chill :).

And at this moment the city workers (buses, garbage disposal, community centre, maintenence, etc) are on strike. And they have been for around 20 days I think.

edit I don't care if your a man and play world of warcraft I'd still give you ride.

Everyday is transit "car free" day for me. Bus, Subway, Subway, Legs... in that order, then vice versa to get home. I find public transit more relaxing in a way since i'm not stuck in the Don Valley Parking Lot for 2 hours just to get home
