No problem eurico. :cheers: At first glance, it looks like Hayam Wuruk/Gajah Mada area going to Kota but the vehicles are on the right side, so it's definitely not Jakarta because you drive at the opposite side.

Maybe in some angles Jakarta looks like Manila but the similarities stops from there. Jakarta has a scattered skyline unlike Manila w/c has a number of business districts where buildings are concentrated in those areas. Manila may have the volume in terms of clustering of the buildings but i see that jakarta has more interesting structures on its fold.

Yeah i agree that Jakarta is beautiful.

TBH I'm from Indonesia and I must say that Jakarta is not really good at urban planning with more than 10 million citizen during the day this city doesn't have MRT to support the city and lacks of parks and public area also one of this city problem and lots more like traffic jam etc. Well if we talk about quality of buildings and height, Jakarta just lack of supertall and the building is not clustered but it is spread all over the city so we can not really see the whole city in just one picture with clustered skyline. But sure Jakarta have more variety type of building in term of architectural and the design then other city in SEA.

To be honest I think Singapore, Bangkok, Manila and Kuala Lumpur is much better than Jakarta in SEA. Jakarta is good but not as good as those.

IMHO, Jakarta come close as runner up, Singapore is No.1, then Jakarta, KL, Bangkok and manila that's my version of top 5 skyline in SEA.

Nice pic, that last one! I know that Jakarta has a very good skyline but somehow it is very hard to get a cool perspective of it IMO.

Bring all of those buildings into one dense area and the skyline would probably look a lot bigger.

Wonderful photos. I really miss Jakarta. I miss the view from Mandarin Oriental, especially the Selamat Datang Monument.

^^ yeah Jakarta's city view from there is uncomparebale, Bunderan HI is the center of Jakarta, Plaza Indonesia and Grand Indonesia 2 best shopping mall in Indonesia are located in this area, not to mention three 5 star hotel, Mandarin Oriental, Kempinski Hotel Indonesia and Grand Hyatt Indonesia. Not far from Bunderan HI also located the most prestigous living neighbourhood Menteng. Ypu should come to Jakarta again and experience Jakarta's other area such as Kemang, Pondok Indah, Kelapa Gading and Jakarta Old Town :cheers:

jakarta and metro manila are similar skyline, i'll call them twin sister cities

^^ Indonesian would be offended referring to Jakarta as a women (inferiority)

Even some Manilans would be offended as well. Manila means city of man. But almost every major city around the world are often have a feminine description.

Honestly, I don't find any similarities in both skylines. If you look at it from an aerial point of view, they are different.

As I said in another thread, Jakarta's high-rise development is linear, usually built around boulevards or avenues. Manila on the other hand has compact CBDS especially Makati.

If there is one area of Metro Manila which strongly resembles Jakarta, this is Quezon City.

The Quezon Memorial Circle is kinda like The Monas and it is more car centric unlike other places in Metro Manila.

i literally angry and feel sad when i was in jakarta not so long a go
looking at dirty air, dirty road, slump, small poor merchant.

ok lets give another 5 years for sby admistration, i hope he realize this.

hmmm... Bangkok's skyline ofcourse bigger than Jakarta's but with Manila?? I'm sure Jakarta has bigger skyline than Metro Manila, it's been a topic so far that Jakarta's skyline is spread all over the city right from Center and North to South and from West to East Jakarta that make it imposible to take it on one single picture unlike Bangkok or Kl.

About size i don't know. But Jakarta's building is nicer than in BKK.:gossip:

However from lots of Indonesian highrise projects, Jakarta has 55%-65% projects from it and it will change Jakarta Skyline Face

yeah when I first saw jakarta's skyline I didn't like it much, then later on I realized that it's impossible to judge the city's entire skyline but just one single pic. I honestly like how its spread out, most centralized skylines never really appealed to me.

and yeah, I agreed with u.. Jakarta's urban centers are spread out all over the city (and separated quite far one to another). I think because of that condition, Jakarta's skyline doesn't look like Manila or any other cities which has concentrated and densed highrises.

Bangkok already gain advantage by their subway and Jakarta willy nilly have to follow the path. The traffic jam is so unbearable now. By creating more comfort public transportaion will benefit for all citizen by reducing idle hours in the street, reduce significantly personal vehicle in the road, automaticaly increase efficiency of workers (less time in the road), reduce pollution, more time with family, less money spend for health care bcoz less hectic in the road etc..etc..

As a matter of fact, Jakarta govt discard the monorail project and MRT is in jeopardy since Japan is the main sponsor of this project. With them being hit by recent Tsunami and Quake.., well... :bash:

Take Manila, for example. The city doesn't seem so different than Jakarta, ie. polluted, over-populated, etc. But, it has quite an efficient and fast MRT system. Although it's not that easy to transfer from one line to the other (sometimes you have to walk and walk and walk), but the trains're clean. Since the security level's pretty high (albeit all the checks..), it's quite a joy to use the facility.

If Manila could do it, why not Jakarta?
