To be honest, i dont really like the skyline as a whole. Not dense enough and very spread out. So many holes and pockets. In addition there are many lower class (low density) areas right around the CBD. The reason why the skyline is so extensive and has so many pockets, is i think they were to ambitious in planning the city that they thought the area will fill up really fast and become dense. One fact about the CBD is that it was nothing before the 80's, they just planned and made the area during the 80's (Indonesia economy was skyrocketing due to oil). So this area is fairly new compared to many CBDs around the world.

The only good thing is that there are many well designed skysrapers here. A lot of exciting designs make the skyline at least a lot better. There are also many proposals with awesome designs (many canceled because of the asian crisis).

I rate Jakarta's skyline a 7/10. As time goes by it will improve, as many open areas will be filled.

hehehe...the streets are only wide in those areas. Other parts, the streets are so narrow, but busy!! Most streets don't have a center median (island).

The skyline is okay.. But this city need more building and high rise.. 7 for me! :)

Indonesia's economy skyrocket from 1970-1985, then in 1985, the oil price drop drasticly therefore their economy plumet and together with the Asian Financial Crisis 1997, they are now lot poor. (correct me if I'm wrong)

Don't really have the spark that make people go wow!!...Some parts of the city are under-developed, but, I guess this takes time considering it is such a big city. Buildings as been said are scattered, and not too magnificent. But, they do have some nice buidlings around the city centre. I give 7/10

It is my Birthplace, but I give Jakarta a 7 for his skyline. It has cool buildings, but theire's no unity in the Skyline.

Nice cluster from afar, but upon close-up, the gaps are obvious... This is made worse by the squatters and shantys located just next to the modern high-rise... Eyesore!

Give a few more years and Jakarta will have a (better planned) skyline that can rival KUL, SG, and BKK, not forgetting Manila...

The density is pretty nice in some places. The architecture leaves something to be desired, however. Overall, it seems like a very chaotic and disorganized skyline. Hopefully, as it develops over the years, it will become more coherent.

Looks like I like the Jakarta skyline more than my friends here:)

The sprawling skyline doesn't bother me in this case. It's like Atlanta, in that the skyline sprawls yes, but the architectural examples in that sprawl are wonderful!

Beautiful nightime shots. I think it's quite an achievement to start a CBD out of basically nothing in a couple decades!

For effort, general achievement and the stunning skyscapers all in a row, a firm 10.

As usual, skyline not dense, most buildings aren't tall enough, architecture is a so-so.
Here's something different: nice boulevards:) For that, Jakarta gets a 7.

For now, it'll be 7.5/10

But there's a lot of room for improvement.

without any hesitation, i gave 8/10
i like jakarta's buildings better than what we have here in toronto.. in terms of the variety of designs, jakarta's skyscrapers kick ass.. but the only drawbacks are jakarta's poor urban planning (lack of green and open public area, traffic jam) that cause the skyline not dense enough.. also the air quality.. it's deteriorating!! but still nevertheless, i was born in jakarta, spent years here, and i love it more than any other cities in this world. it really has a great potential that is hidden and waiting to be developed ^__^

i love my birthplace the way it is.. jakarta gives me unforgetable moments.. the delicious foods from street vendors, the traffic jams, rustic public transportation, hot and dusty air.. i love everything about this city.. the imperfection is what makes jakarta the way it is now..

i give it 8.5 :)
