The CAN THO Bridge, South Vietnam
.................................................
It is one of the largest ever engineering projects in Vietnam's history. The bridge will be over 3,000 m with a main span of 2,750 m, which will be the longest cable bridge in South East Asia, as well as being one of the longest bridges in the World! The width is about 26.1 m.
The Bridge is current under construction and is due to be completed by 2007 - 2009. It will cost $US.342.6 Million to build, with most of the budget supplied by Japanese contractors. It will link the provinces of Can Tho(make it Hau Giang) and Vinh Long. The bridge will overtake the title of Vietnam's longest bridge. The current longest bridge is the beautiful My Thuan Bridge, which was built and partly funded by the Australians. The bridge marked the strong relationship between the two nations.
