I don't have pics, maybe you can post some of them. :) hkskyline October 3rd, 2005, 05:44 PM Many skyscrapers have antennae that serve as telecommunications broadcasting centers (ie. Empire State Building). Obelixx October 5th, 2005, 05:47 PM Not a skyscraper, but a very interesting telecommunication tower looking like a skyscraper can be found on the Big Feldberg in Germany, Hesse. The lower section of the construction consists of reinforced concrete, while its top is built of wood! More information can be found on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sender_Feldberg/Taunus and on http://www.structurae.net/structures/data/index.cfm?ID=s0012605 ! http://www.dxradio-ffm.de/Gr.FeldbergTs_X.jpeg Telecommunication Tower Big Feldberg, Hesse Cliff October 6th, 2005, 04:41 AM Many skyscrapers have antennae that serve as telecommunications broadcasting centers (ie. This construction took place from 1977 to 1979. - Floors one through eight have a floor to ceiling height of 18 feet. This was to accommodate telephone toll switching equipment. http://members.shaw.ca/mock/telustoll.jpg samsonyuen October 8th, 2005, 10:38 AM What about the tallest free-standing structure, CN Tower, Toronto? I really like the BT Tower in London. redstone October 8th, 2005, 04:41 PM I was actually asking for telephone exchange and equipment storage skyscrapers. ;) :D redstone October 8th, 2005, 05:01 PM http://www.streetdirectory.com.sg/images/simg.php?r=11048348071484&bo=1 I amost forgot this, the Telephone House Complex or Central Telephone Exchange, built in 1904. It had Islamic influenced style. In the 1970s, a skyscraper was apparently built on top of the old building. The base of the old building can still be seen below the skyscraper. The Bauhaus block might had been added somewhere in 1930-1960... :? |
