View Full Version : Bentall should have combined its two "Livingston" (Calgary) towers into one!

I think the folks at Bentall suck: they were naive enough to think the demand in Calgary would wane, and thus build Livingston in two phases; they have just decided to begin phase two (while the first barely broke ground)...the twin tower. The city could have been graced with a 40+ tower, but noooo...Bentall had to be such losers!! Proposing twins in a market like Winnipeg is one thing, but when it comes to Calgary, you can build one taller building dammit! Thank goodness for Encana!

Why not at all. They were building before they had any tenants. Indeed, they were counting on the demand staying high. Many of us Calgarians would have preferred a taller tower too, but these two buildings will add a tiered look from the north.

BTW EnCana is going to be a twin too if you didn't know...

not to burst your bubble or anything, i think you are stating a good point. but... encana will be a twin, just one tower will be substantially taller than the other twin.

Or they should have designed it like Bentall 5 in Vancouver. Add floors when there is demand.

I think the redesign looks fine myself...

And yeah, they are building both of them at the same time as 'PegPatriot said, and I think that's a good thing.

more density is always a good thing, the towers look good! not bad at all... although the design has a somewhat suburban office park "feel" to it...

Totally suburban, although at 40 storeys, not so bad!

yeah, I know Encana will be a twin, but at least one will be quite tall...in that case, I'll take them! Just not a fan of these stubby twins!

Ya, they do really look suburban but seem to still suit the sight well. Suburban yes, but they still look OK.

Fuck 40+, try 10000000000000000000000000000000000000

^^Plz excuse Valantino, He seems to have gotten drunk after a night of partying. ;)

And those towers look like suburban business parks, a taller tower is much better. And since it is a 40s office tower, it could very much be 600 ft. tall.

I think Calgary is a beautiful city , it makes me think of the Vancouver of Alberta almost .
The problem with most North America cities, is that the buildings tend to look old and grey ( no offence ) Edmonton , Regina , even all the way to Akron ohio !
Vancouver, Calgary and we will say North York all look NEW , almost Aisan in design . Calgary should keep thier twin concept, nothing wrong with that as long as they are astheticly pleasing as the rest of the city . Buildings here mostly suck for instance as well , ( all look like 1969 or something, even though some are new).
