in term of skyline only: I think

1. Bangkok
2. Hat Yai
3. Pattaya
4. Chiang Mai
5. Hua Hin
6. Khon Kaen

Nonthaburi and Pathum thani should not be in the list since they are just the satellite town of Bangkok

I think the problem with Chiang Mai is its urban planning, the highrises seem to spread all over the entire Ping river valley, while Hat Yai and Pattaya , they tends to cluster around the central business district area. And Hua Hin-Cha Am, I think Hua Hin scrapers view gives me the feeling of the Gold Coast (Australia). Khon Kaen has a nice small cluster as well, even though the dead Kosa complex was put in the middle of it.

Udon Thani, Korat and Eastern coast provinces still need more high rises to fill the gap.

Yep, I think so for the spreading of the highrise and Chiang Mai doesn't have the real one CBD.

Well, I think Chiang Mai has a CBD (the area around Night bazaar, Thapae Rd. Chang Khlaan Rd. and Chang Moi Rd. But the highrises in that area is not dense. Most of the building are shophouses.)

Actually the highrises spread around the city from Meng Rai bridge in the southern part where Chiang Mai Sheraton locate as Atom's picture to Chiang Mai municipal office in the northern part along Ping river. And from Chiang Mai uni. area where has so many many 10-15 storeys condo to the night bazaar area where many 20-25 storeys hotel locate.

My ranking in terms of skyline is....

Pattaya
Had yai
Chiang Mai
Nonthaburi
Khon kaen
Huahin
Phuket
Udon
Pathumthanii
Sriracha

The nightbazaar in Chiang Mai has a number of 20+ story buildings, Duangthawan, Royal Lanna and Porn Ping spring to mind. Pattaya of course has a fair number of highrises mostly Hotels.

I think pattaya is doing the best for now.
Chiangmai is too scattered....getting to be more and more like BKK :)
Had Yai buildings mostly are ugly.
Khon Kean has nice CBD (though all are hotels), if the Kosa would be completed it could be one of the best CBD outside BKK :)

Hua Hin is also booming with highrises....Chiangmai-Mid rises, Phuket-Low rises.

I think it's Pattaya. Because last time i visited Pattaya. I went to the top of my neighbor's condo , and i saw so many 20-30 storey highrises. It seems that Pattaya's
skyline is high and dense.
And at this time , there are a lot of skyscraper projects in Pattaya. I'm quite sure
that Pattaya should be the best except BKK.

Hua Hin, it really looks like the Gold Coast to me, maybe not the surfer paradise area, but the beach front near QLD/NSW border.

I don't believe that fact that Hua Hin has more high-rise buildings than Pataya.Anyway, Do you have any stat on this issue to prove it right?
