CrazyCanuck October 6th, 2005, 12:03 AM When a piece of chocolate from my meal slipped on to my seat and I sat on it and it smudged all over my ass, it was bad. ralex231 October 6th, 2005, 12:11 AM I was flying from Jacksonville airport to RDU and there was horrible turblance. The turbulance was so bad that it knocked luggage out of the storage bins and knocked flight attendants to their feet. That might be one of the scariest moments of my life :( zergcerebrates October 6th, 2005, 08:37 AM I was sitting upstairs on a 747 on a flight from Saipan to Tokyo while I was drinking the coke on my hand the plane suddenly lost altitude due to turbulence and I saw a string of coke coming out from the can it was odd and when the plane gain its altitude all the coke that went up splashed onto my pants. All this happened less than 4 seconds. FM 2258 October 6th, 2005, 09:19 AM I don't think I could ever have a horrible flying experience since I love flying so much. I've been in heavy plane jolting turbulence in an American Eagle ERJ-145, was scared shitless but I was laughing and clapping when it was over. Once I was in Houston on a Continental 737-500 and our plane was delayed at the gate for about 3 hours. I was my first flight in 10 years and I was just excited to be on a plane again........heh, that was the summer of 2004 and I've had numerous flights in the past year and a half. I can't wait for my flight to New York City in less than two weeks, so excited. I get to go on 3 planes in, and 3 planes out. Awesome. :) staff October 6th, 2005, 11:59 AM I guess my worst experience was on a flight between Stockholm and Malmø. There was a terrible storm over Malmø, and the pilot tried to land several times on Malmø-Sturup, but he didn't make it and we had to land in Hamburg instead. Ringil October 6th, 2005, 07:26 PM I've been stranded in the african desert, been droven 300km north through nowhere, for the first time had thoughts on where our embassy may be located, spent 24 hours with people i dont know. met a lot of interesting people, fought with people for tickets home, filled in hell of a lot of papers, really really had a wonderful time, really it was so awesome :D If you wanna experience this then choose Iberia! :D  ryanr October 6th, 2005, 07:32 PM When a piece of chocolate from my meal slipped on to my seat and I sat on it and it smudged all over my ass, it was bad. hope u got over that. solbyair October 6th, 2005, 07:38 PM SABENA = Such A Bad Experience Never Again When the lavatories on Brussels - Glasgow didn´t work they offered free drinks to everyone as compensation FM 2258 October 6th, 2005, 08:21 PM SABENA = Such A Bad Experience Never Again When the lavatories on Brussels - Glasgow didn´t work they offered free drinks to everyone as compensation That makes sense. :bash: squeemu October 6th, 2005, 08:29 PM Once we landed in Chicago on the way to Washington D.C. and we were flying on American. We went to where our connecting plane was located, got on, and waited for 45 minutes. They then told us that the plane was broken so we couldn't fly on it. They sent us across the whole terminal (O'hare's American terminal is HUGE) to catch another flight that left in 10 minutes. We ran over there as fast as we could, and they said it was full. So they sent us BACK across the terminal to another plane, got on just in time and they closed the doors. THEN we sat there for another 30 minutes. After that, they informed us that THIS plane was broken and we would have to get on another plane. We did, and that one finally took off. Our 1 hour layover ended up taking almost 5. london-b October 6th, 2005, 08:35 PM I was on an EasyJet plane on final to land at Geneva when we hit a pocket of air turbulence, but these turbulence was nothing like I had experienced before. They seriously rocked us about and lost altitude quickly, not nice when your so close to the ground. Ramses October 6th, 2005, 08:49 PM .. sky_high October 7th, 2005, 03:39 AM hehehe, the worst should be these who can not be alive anymore due to the flights. Manila-X October 7th, 2005, 02:48 PM A flight from LA to Hong Kong! People were so noisy!!!! Especially speaking Cantonese! Effer October 7th, 2005, 11:08 PM Chicago-Paris American Airlanes- Worst service and airplane i've ever seen! :bash: adidas October 7th, 2005, 11:10 PM Ujbekistan airline from Delhi to London rubbish food and everything else was rubbish too. Nick October 8th, 2005, 08:59 AM Ive been on American airlines and worst of all,Northworst.Oppps I mean Northwest. I will never fly with any of those carriers again. All they seem to care about is money. The service is shocking and the food very cheap and nasty. On Norhtworst they shouted at me because I had too many beers. How many? 3.Thats it.3 beers in 8 hours??? For me Singapore,Cathy are the best.Followed by JAL,Qantas,ANA.Virgin was also very good. Other airlines ive been on that were good.British airways,Air New Zealand,Austrian air,Korean,Malaysian and Thai. Some others ive taken but wasnt too happy with but not as disgusted as Northworst and Amerian.Air China and KLM. Ringil October 8th, 2005, 12:10 PM SABENA = Such A Bad Experience Never Again When the lavatories on Brussels - Glasgow didn´t work they offered free drinks to everyone as compensation SO TRUE, got really bad experience with old sabena but I thought it was Such A Bloody Experience Never Again vincent October 8th, 2005, 12:20 PM I was sitting upstairs on a 747 on a flight from Saipan to Tokyo while I was drinking the coke on my hand the plane suddenly lost altitude due to turbulence and I saw a string of coke coming out from the can it was odd and when the plane gain its altitude all the coke that went up splashed onto my pants. All this happened less than 4 seconds. it is not odd. It is like astaurant "flying" in space when they are in negative G condition. The coke was in that - G condition when the altitude was dropping rapidly, that's why it "fly" out. Almost all space agency around the world use similar method (intentional decrease altitude rapidly) to simulate the - G condition to train people for space flight. vincent October 8th, 2005, 12:23 PM SABENA = Such A Bad Experience Never Again When the lavatories on Brussels - Glasgow didn´t work they offered free drinks to everyone as compensation haha, looks like the FA wants to make you to go bathroom even more... good work, FA!! vincent October 8th, 2005, 12:25 PM Once we landed in Chicago on the way to Washington D.C. and we were flying on American. Our 1 hour layover ended up taking almost 5. sounds like they can make their own "Amazing Race" inside the O'hare airport alone. Just see who get there fast enough to catch the flight. vincent October 8th, 2005, 12:32 PM Ive been on American airlines and worst of all,Northworst.Oppps I mean Northwest. Totally messed my biological clock. hehe, is that a "bad" experience?? SE9 October 8th, 2005, 02:32 PM I was on a British Airways flight from London -> Nairobi, Kenya -> Lilongwe, Malawi. The 747 was scheduled to stop at Kenyatta Intl Airport (Nairobi), for about 1 hour, and then continue on to Lilongwe, Malawi. During that hour, we passengers were allowed to roam around the duty-free area of Jomo Kenyatta airport until it was time to board the plane again for Malawi. It was whilst I was roaming, the news came that a mouse or rat(cant remember which) had been spotted on-board the plane by one of the passengers. This mouse/rat btw was never found. As a precaution though, the pilot decided to ground the plane and offload all the passengers into Nairobi Airport. So all the passengers of this 747 had to wait in an Airport lounge for 5 hours until BA sorted out some 737s to connect us onto Malawi. All this because of a lil mouse :( Phenomenal Fullerton October 14th, 2005, 05:21 AM TOWER AIR!!!!!!!!! I made the mistake when in the USA in '95 of flying in one of their dinosaurs from LAX to JFK. On take-off, the engines were screaming like hell - they sounded completely fucked. It was so loud. I didn't think I was going to get there. I'm a calm flyer, but I've never been so nervous throughout a flight. No wonder they went bust. Another time flying Qantas from Sydney to Perth, Xmas 2001. Heavy turbulence on approach, not far above runway when pilot puts on full throttle (very loud) and pitches up steeply. We went around and landed fine. Pilot announced that a plane was still on the runway when we were coming in to land! wecky October 14th, 2005, 06:07 AM It's with EasyJet .. travelling from London to Zurich, Switzerland. Harkeb October 19th, 2005, 09:32 AM 12 hour flight Cape Town-London. Decided to get pissed in order to sleep, as I cannot sleep much on aplane. I was woken up for breakfast, nearing Europe. That's when I realized that I puked over myself whilst sleeping! And that's how the attendant found me!! My head felt too thick and I felt too shit to be embarrassed. Subangite October 20th, 2005, 11:41 AM I got spat at on a Royal Brunei flight from Bandar Seri Begawan to Brisbane a 2 years ago, now that's a long story. The jist of it: The passenger sitting in front of me turned around to look at me, she was sleeping, drooling, when she turned her drool/spit landed on my chest. In November last year a Japan Airlines JAL flight attendant spilt and scalded hot tea on me on a flight to Sydney. There was no turbulance. She was just clumsy. In December last year I Austrian Airlines stranded me in Vienna, I had to wait for 3 hours in a line infront of the ticketing office at VIE to rebook my flight to Malev Hungarian Airlines the following day, Austrian did not appologise nor did they compensate me. shayan October 20th, 2005, 09:47 PM ow my god Turkish airline from Amsterdam airport to Antalya I wanted to kill the cabin people really they where all grumpy and rude they didn't even talk english!! Avian001 October 21st, 2005, 01:24 AM As a former filght attendant with a major US airline, I can assure you that all of your stories pale by comparison to the stories of thousands of flight attendants across the world. For some brief examples... Story #1: I was astonished over the years by the number of passengers who tried to open a lavatory door by pulling on the ashtray. Folks, those doorknobs exist for a reason. Story #2: I was amazed by the people who thought we were going over an ocean when we were just flying over Lake Michigan. "Gee, is that the Atlantic?" "No Ma'am, we're just flying to Buffalo." ...Really! Story #3: "Pittsburgh? Pittsburgh? Is that a city in France?" Story #4: I've personally seen people pooping in the lavatory sinks because they didn't know about Western standards of hygiene. Story #4: I've personally seen Western people refuse to use a traditional Japanese toilet because they didn't know about Eastern standards of hygiene. God knows how long they held it. Story #5: Question: "Can you whip up some steak tartar for my dog?" Answer: "Only if we use your own dog, honey." Story #6: "I don't like this vodka. Can you get something else?" At 35,000 feet no less. Story #7: "I don't have my passport with me. Will that be a problem?" Story #8: "Can you radio ahead to let my Uncle know that we'll be late?" The basic truth is, don't go criticising airline crews who have heard everything and seen everything. Æsahættr October 21st, 2005, 03:19 AM We were flying from Cancun to Minnepeapolis (Sun Country), and the pilot was crazy and the plane seemed to tilt 25 degrees for the approach, then the plane was wayyy too low, the landing gear seemed like it was touching the tops of the trees of the houses, then when we landed the plane skidded on the runway. With AirTran, Minneapolis to Tampa, we ran out of fuel, so we were circling over Atlanta, but there was a huge thunderstorm so we couldn't land so then we only had 25 minutes of fuel left, so we had to land at an obscure airstrip (i think it was military) to refuel in Tennesse or something. And one time, I went on a SABENA flight, it was actually ok. carecife October 21st, 2005, 03:35 AM LAP-Lineas Aereas Paraguayas Recife-Brussels,1993 simple Terrible. weill October 21st, 2005, 04:03 AM havent really ha d a bad experience on a plane, besides turbulence Shado October 21st, 2005, 01:56 PM If you wanna experience this then choose Iberia! :D  Indeed. I just flew Iberia from Casablanca-New York, via Madrid. We didn't board until 2 hours after the scheduled boarding time, all this time we were given no information on when we would board. They then spend 2 hours with us on the runway. Apparently they'd decided to cancel a Casablanca-Barcelona leg and throw everone from that plane on ours, and this whole thing cost 4 hours. Our connecting flight was due to leave 4 hours after our scheduled arrival. Enough time you would think to catch a connection. We arrived at Madrid 10 minutes before our flight was scheduled to leave (made good time in the air), but surprise surprise there were no aerobridges free. We were all shoved into busses that were crowded beyond belief, and eventually shuttled down to the other end of the airport. Where the board still said our flight was boarding. - We sprinted down to the other end of the airport to our gate (Amazing Race music playing in my head at this point)... When we got there it had departed, I'm not sure how much earlier. Anyway, cue an unscheduled night in Madrid. We weren't allowed to get our checked in luggage either. One has to say the security in Madrid airport is pretty lax, as we managed to enter and leave the country without any record of our visit.... So we get to New York, a day late for what will only be a 2.5 day visit. Our luggage arrived in New York just as we were leaving... :bash: This time we're leaving New York to fly to Brisbane via LA/Auckland. American Airlines sits us on the tarmac for 2 hours, first waiting for passengers, then mechanical issues, then 'paperwork'. Oh, and then the clincher, waiting for a free push off team, because we missed our slot, and all the 'on time' planes couldn't be put back a couple of minutes to save us 20.... We arrive in LA, and I must say the 'onboard' American Airlines staff were exceptional. And in this situation they needed to be. The Iberia staff on our previous flight were hopeless, and half a dozen screaming spanish people is not a pleasant sight. (On the Iberia flight, even if you wanted to pay 9 Euros for a dry bread roll with a piece of ham on it, you couldn't, in the 4 hours we sat on the tarmac they didn't restock, so had no food.) Anyway, we arrive with probably 10minutes to go, and think, hmm, maybe Qantas will hold the flight. We're directed to a Qantas 'representative' who is acutally an AA staff member. And just told to stand in a Queue. The first we here that we've missed the flight is when the guy in front is told 'You've been booked on the same flight tomorrow'... No, 'Sorry, you've missed it'. Purely mechanical as if it was our fault, or as if this was ok... grr, so another missed connection, another unexpected stopover, no luggage again. By this time it's costing missed earnings at work, not just a day of a once in a lifetime holiday. You might expect it once, but in 6 days, we had 2 missed connections, 2 days of our holiday destroyed, and only saw our luggage for 12 hours. Not to mention the time spent tracking down our luggage being told contradicting things about its location. /rant ... Not really impressed with the One World airlines at the moment. Althought we had no problem with Gulf Air on the initial leg of the journey. serendib October 21st, 2005, 02:01 PM QATAR airways ..... they made a huge fuss about 1 kg which i had more than the load in my hand luggage the laptop!!!!!!!! on a long haul flight ....!!!!! nacirema dream October 22nd, 2005, 01:03 AM my worse expierence was last summer i was on my way home from new york i was supposed to fly outta JFK to vancouver at 7am so i had to work at 4am and i took a cab and the driver must have been on crack or something the drive was crazy. so i got there and the flight was overbooked and i was on standby and i didnt get on. there were no other flights outta JFK to vancouver that day so i went to LGA and there flights were all overbooked so i had to spend all day at the gate and got on a flight to toronto cause there was a direct flight to kelowna that i hoped to get to. so i left LGA sometime that night and missed the flight to kelowna and had to sleep in the new terminal in toronto on marble floor and get up the next morning at 6am to fly to vancouver and then to kelowna. i got bout 3hrs sleep in those 2 days greg_christine October 22nd, 2005, 03:22 AM These would have been two really bad flights: http://webpages.charter.net/g.vassilakos/misc/badflight3.jpg Harkeb November 4th, 2005, 03:21 AM Why is Qatar Airways portraying themselves as a "5 star" airline? They don't even have a big enough plane for long distance flying! The once they use are small and crampy with some of them not even having remote controls to play games with. The food was your average 'beef-or-chicken'. How are airlines graded? Is it just a stupid new fashion, like having "7 star" hotels? |
