View Full Version : Streets of Tokyo - OmoteSando
princeofseoul October 9th, 2005, 06:38 PM Hi, fellow japanese forumers: I'm located nearby Tokyo these days and go
downtown once in a while to take some street shots of the different
neighbourhoods. I don't know the city very well so far, and all I can give is
pictures and not too much details on the what the areas are famous for and
so on. I should become proficient soon thus, I hope ;)
I am especially fond of small streets with people in the foreground and the
occasional skyscraper in the distance. I hope you like them!
Here are a few shots in the area nearby Omote-sando subway:

I'll be posting a thread on a different Tokyo neighbourhood every week or second week. There's the famous Shibuya, Shinjuku, Azakusa, Ginza neighbourhoods I wish to cover as well as some lesser known areas: if some have special requests, let me know and I'll do my best to find some time. By the way, which subway stop/line is Bunkyo ku? Also, I'm looking for these types of areas in Tokyo: small hills with mostly low-rise houses and unusual architecture. Suggestions are welcomed :)
demanjo October 15th, 2005, 09:19 AM As many as possible dude... im heading to Tokyo very soon so i need as much orientation as possible.
Tell me, i am arriving in January (second time ill be there, after November), with my mum, dad, and two little sisters (8 & 10). Do you have any neighbourhoods you can recommend?? Ie, attractions nearby, but quiet-ish, with good transport, but mainly safe (i know tokyo is generally safe tho).
Cheers man
Thanks again for the pics
BrizzyChris October 15th, 2005, 04:41 PM Nice shots. Seems hard to take a "dirty" photo of Tokyo. For it's size I just can't believe it's so clean.

i'm not familiar with tokyo transportation routes...but i know that if you find the Tokyo Universities hongo campus you will be in Bunkyo ku.
i think this link would be helpful... http://www.u-tokyo.ac.jp/campusmap/map01_02_e.html
basically its a 8 minute walk form Hongo-sanchome Station. (Subway Marunouchi Line) pictures of the university and the surrounding city area.... thank you soo much...

Kanji October 16th, 2005, 01:35 PM Really amazing!

Almost every ward can be like that - as long as you don't stay on the main street. Even in Shinjuku and Shibuya, just get one or two blocks away from the #1, 2 or 3 streets and it's almost like a different city...
Are you guys gong to stay in an apartment? I think I heard of some nice new-ish ones around Akasaka.
Mosaic October 19th, 2005, 06:21 PM The street scenes in Tokyo are truly impressive. I really wanna be there.
Nick November 9th, 2007, 05:33 PM Great pics.Even after all these years

Hanshin-Tigress November 10th, 2007, 09:25 PM looks nice but they suck to drive on. Most japanese prefer north american style roads (big and wide). but yes they do look nice.
ROYU November 11th, 2007, 10:27 PM Very nice pics. I love Tokyo streetscenes.

Yup, but if you think those road in the pic is narrow, then you should see some of the roads in Kamakura.
