Wow. A lot of Tulsa. I voted Tulsa, OKC, Omaha, DSM, and B'ham. But my number one is Tulsa.

COLUMBUS...by far.

J'ville, B'ham, Nashville and OKC all seem to match their sizes. If you took the tallest out of Omaha and Des Moines, the skylines would be very poor. Portland is a let down for its size (great density though).

I don't know, its odd. If you were to show a pic of Omaha and said it was Indianapolis, many on here would say that it not good.

I say Little Rock, Jacksonville, and Columbus.

Y-CityGuy
October 10th, 2005, 11:03 PM
They are all underrated skylines, but the most would have to be Columbus. The skyline has something like 5 buildings over 500 ft.

TULSA hands down. So much height for its size; its just so attractive to me. :okay:

No Louisville? We get a lot of double takes. No one ever expects us to even have a skyline.

Milwaukee's skyline, I would actually consider small for a city it's size.

St. Paul? Don't they have over 3 mil in the Twin Cities?

So far Tulsa is by far in the lead, with 13, and Portland is coming in close behind at 11. Oklahoma City and Columbus are tied for third at 7 a piece.

Yeah, but there are two downtowns. I'd say St. Paul is underrated, because like the other cities in this thread, most people probably don't have any idea what St. Paul's skyline looks like, or that it even has one.

SRG
October 13th, 2005, 03:40 AM
It's really kind of small for a metro of it's size to begin with.

St. Paul's skyline is smaller than some of the skylines featured in this thread.

how do you like that! ka ching.

That building under construction is completed. A taller skyscraper (no. 3 in Mil) is under construction right next door.

Yeah, and that's why I pointed out that there were two downtowns. Downtown St. Paul is not the downtown for the 3 million metro.

wow, i think the kc skyline is WAY underrated, but, i'd probably say des moines, due to the stark ratio of downtown density to metropolitan area population. pretty subjective...

then again, des moines brags on this point a lot...

Do you always have to offend people? There are more mature ways of expressing your opinion...and those kinds of comments make it look like you don't have anything intelligent to say. I think you probably are intelligent, but you aren't coming across that way. Just a thought.

He didn't offend me at all, but it is certainly offensive to be overly aggressive in how you state your opinion. Review some of this kid's past comments and you'll see what I'm talking about.

It would be much more civil to simply say that a skyline is not your taste rather than calling it ugly, but he can just leave maturity to the grownups I guess.

I just got back from 2 weeks in Honolulu and let me tell you, that is a skyline that shocked me. The building density is amazing...470 buildings over 10 floors. Nothing tops 500 feet (one 650 footer planned though), but there are 72 buildings over 300 feet tall. 72!
