I was looking at Google Earth today, and I looked up Jeddah and was looking at some pics and I saw this development that was north of Jeddah...It looks like a resort of some sort or something....not sure, Knowing Saudi Arabia it might end up being a massive palace....but the thing measures roughly 2.47 miles (or 3.97 Kilometers) from either end, and roughly .62 miles (or 1.01 Kilometers) from side to side. I'm not sure if its completed by now, and the google earth picture wasn't very clear. Here is what I saw.....

They hardly ever release details about their projects.

That my friend is the infamous "Madinat al-Bu7airat" (city of lakes) resort project, the biggest white elephant in Jeddah. It's an old project (it started a few years before durrat al-3arous) not new. The problem with it, was that the developer was way too ambitious. It was huge! The project was plagued with difficulties, and so durrat al-3arous beat them to the market by opening first putting the project into deep jeporedy. Billions of Riyals and years later, a scaled down Bu7airat opened (the western half), but it isn't doing well. The partially developed eastern section was divided and sold off, as was the undeveloped land.

durrat al-3arous, what is that ???,i never heard of this project ,it seem like top secret project :jk: , can you provide more information :)

Are you guys serious? You've never heard of Durrat al-Arous!!! :eek:

Durrat al-Arous is a complete tourism city located in Khaleej Salman, which is 40km north of Jeddah. Construction started in the late 80s and phase 1 was opened around 93-94. It is absolutely massive (8 million square meters), and was the talk of the town when it opened. It was the place to be in Jeddah throughout the 90s.
