Is English sport good or bad or does it need improving and who else should be on that list
Pobbie October 13th, 2005, 04:28 PM It's been worse, that's for sure. I vote "good", if not perfect. :)
Noostairz October 13th, 2005, 04:33 PM good thread, clarky.
definately good. we're too hard on ourselves sometimes.
Monkey October 13th, 2005, 05:32 PM Lennox Lewis should be on there. He may have retired now but it was recent and he had one of the greatest records in heavyweight history. I think we do pretty well. :)
Monkey October 13th, 2005, 05:33 PM At Wimbledon we host the world's best tennis tournament every year and.... 2012 London Olympics!!
Roll on the 2018 World Cup bid....
eusebius October 16th, 2005, 08:32 PM Lord Bald = bad

does binge drinking count as well? You need to train hard for that.
Matjash October 16th, 2005, 11:09 PM You need to improve in ice-hockey, b-ball and handball.

Korfball!
Wasn't that game only invented about 100 years ago?
eddyk October 17th, 2005, 01:22 PM We're definately too hard on ourselves.
If we arnt No.1 in the world, we're crap.
And thats what I see everywhere in this country.
We have great teams and great sportsmen, but because they arnt Ranked No.1, they suck.
bnmaddict voted bad the jackass.
As if France are any better at sport.
Kampflamm October 17th, 2005, 03:29 PM I thought you two were in love.
eddyk October 17th, 2005, 04:23 PM Love/Hate relationship.
Sitback October 17th, 2005, 04:33 PM You need to improve in ice-hockey, b-ball and handball.
Yeah three sports we really couldn't care less for. So no thanks.
eddyk October 17th, 2005, 04:53 PM Ice Hocley and Basketball we are improving on.
And out Ice Hockey is compared to that of the NHL and not the rest of Europe.
Kampflamm October 17th, 2005, 06:57 PM Your ice hockey sucks, period. Doesn't matter which country or league it's compared to. The French may be worse though.
DiggerD21 October 17th, 2005, 07:57 PM Yeah three sports we really couldn't care less for. So no thanks.
Apart of Football England is good in sports were Germany sucks (ok, currently Germany's football team sucks too).
Rigadon October 17th, 2005, 09:41 PM Apart of Football England is good in sports were Germany sucks (ok, currently Germany's football team sucks too).
Field Hockey is one sport where they compete on the same level - though I think germnaysi quite a lot better.
Both countries are decent at rowing as well.
DiggerD21 October 17th, 2005, 10:08 PM I should have added the word "popular" into my last post. :D
JDRS October 17th, 2005, 10:41 PM We're not bad but definetely could be better. Often too critical though.
We should be doing more at grass roots to encourage better sports stars.

Either Belgium or The NL offer the worst physical education. Most sportsgrounds in NL are now located: away from schools; away from the neighbourhoods and next to motorways. I've not seen the entire UK in the past year but judging from what I did get to see, things aren't bad at all in the UK ... On the contrary, perhaps the best amateur facilities .. while still community/family friendly

I don't know really! Korfbal and netball are of the same ilk - the appeal to korfbal is of course taking mixed showers after a game

Noostairz November 1st, 2005, 03:21 PM All i can say is enjoy it while it last becuase its not going to get any better.
fucking typical, unnecessary, pathetic australian comment that says more about the national chip on your shoulder than it does about us.
Magallanes November 1st, 2005, 05:22 PM Not bad but certainly you could be much better...
