I was in Chicago last weekend to watch my sister run the Chicago Marathon. I met up with my parents and sister who flew in from California... I was coming from New York, where I now live. It was my 1st time to Chicago and really enjoyed it. I wish the weather was a little better, but I definitely was impressed by the architecture, Millenium Park, and Michigan Avenue. Thanks sbarn. Yes, the weather that Sunday was great for running, but that weekend in particular was not at all balmy.

This one promises to be much better! :)

One of the greatest Marathon after NYC, Boston, London, Rotterdam & Berlin.
Should come there and run one in my life time.

This is the first time I have heard of the Chicago Marathon.

Yes, I remember the world best time had been broken twice in this course as this course is flat. The 2 world best was broken by the same guy (Khannochi, an American Moroccan) in seperate years a few years ago.

But the greatest 2 Marathons should be London & Rotterdam, no argue. These 2 marathons have the flattest courses which favours the making of best time. They do attract the best of the best runners in the world. Most world best time were done in these 2 courses.

Boston is historical & famous. But the course is hilly so it cannot produce good time. So as NYC Marathon.

Both Berlin & Chicago are great Marathons with flat course but still cannot attract most of the best talent fields. Since the top marathon runners can only run 2 Marathons per year at most, in order to run the best result. So, they have to choose among the many races.

Boston and NYC both have the historic marathons. Chicago's marathon is fairly new. Chicago's just hasn't gotten as much media attention yet.

In at least one of these two instances, I remember the weather being unseasonably cold/cool, which did help Khannochi.
