Rhodes is the main city of the Greek island of Rhodes, in the Aegean Sea. Its permanent population is about 60,000.

The city is divided into two parts: the Old City (medieval city) and the New City.

The Old City is surrounded by strong walls and is one of the biggest and best preserved medieval settlements of Europe. The fortified medieval city is full of buildings of Byzantine times, middle Ages and Turkish rule.

I mostly took pictures of the beuatiful medieval city.

Wow...those are some of the calmest water I've ever seen. Very peaceful looking urban centers. Well preserved classic buildings. Some part of the city look really medieval without any signs of modernity in the vicinity. Nice job!

yes, sexy and beautiful
...also look at those stony houses, narrow streets, yachts and crystal clear blue waters!
However it reminds me a lot of memorable scenes from James Bond 007 movie "For Your Eyes Only" (1979) :)

Rhodes may now be medieval but it has a glorious and ancient past. this is what i rememeber it for.

The ancient city of Rhodes housed one of the seven wonders of the world; the Colossus. This Statue is now copied via the Statue of Liberty at NYC.
It is roughly the same size but the Statue of Liberty is taller due to the higher pedestal and rising arm.

Great site to read about the city and statue.http://www.unmuseum.org/colrhode.htm

How it probably looked.

How it could have looked. However the bronze workings at the time prob wouldn't have allowed the spread of the legs (would have collapsed). Still is the popular representation of it.

Modern Rhodes and the fort now stands over where the wonder once did.
