Rhodes is the main city of the Greek island of Rhodes, in the Aegean Sea. Its permanent population is about 60,000.

The city is divided into two parts: the Old City (medieval city) and the New City.

The Old City is surrounded by strong walls and is one of the biggest and best preserved medieval settlements of Europe. The fortified medieval city is full of buildings of Byzantine times, middle Ages and Turkish rule.

Congtatulations for a wonderful selection of pictures.

Yet. as editor for Greece of skyscrapers/ emporis.com allow me to say that Rhodes has a couple of highrises which, along with another few in Thesssaloniki, are the only tall buildings in Greece outside Athens.

The tallest is the 18-storey Rodos Palace Hotel (http://www.rodos-palace.gr/) which is located in the Ixia area, just outside the main city of Rhodes.

Overall however, very few would like to see this model of development to have taken over thisn island, although, this particular hotel and its neighbourhood is seen as one of the most popular resort and business conventions destinations in the Mediterranean...
