It doesn't look that nice from this side... the shorter tower looks quite fat and the taller one is a bit bland. Luckily people will see them from other angles most of the time :-)

yah...and in future when the road is in use, it would have been blocked by THE SAIL and other future developments

Nevertheless I can appreciate its simplicity

ORQ should be taller then Temasek Tower right? be it seems like Temasek Tower is still taller... from any view seriously, ORQ somehow looks like the 6th tallest, not the 5th...

Yes. Temasek Tower is 235m tall....its about perspectives I think. Raffles Quay is located nearer to Republic Plaza, hence consistently looks 'shorter'.

@hya, yes thats from Chinatown.

@Cliff, nice contrast! Now in a 'short' space of time the Sail will be next

I'm really liking the sloped base, and the lobby looks inviting...the plaza in between both towers is really a good design feature!

yah my main gripe with the new skyscrapers lining up along Marina Boulevard is that the view of the rest of Shenton Way gets obstructed somewhat....but Capital Tower can still be seen from some angles.

Rise behind what?

btw I spotted the taller tower with its top lighted up last night, in the form of a horizontal band like the shorter tower.

Thought it was quite nice and subtle, but it was turned on for a short while only.

RafflesCity
July 21st, 2006, 05:23 PM
I also agree...would be more visible...but then maybe they thought it wasnt worth it since the Marina Bay facing would be blocked out by the future developments and the Sail.

btw the underpass to Raffles Place MRT station is now open...its worth a walk through...very large and spacious with retail spaces, like Citilink, and will have shops. Also connects to NTUC Centre :)

its lovely!

you will really appreciate it on a HOT day at noon....very convenient for workers there in future.

Next time...the underpass will extend down to serve the Sail too....a taste of life at the new downtown...with buildings linked to each other and MRT stations by underground passageways....

With BFC and the likes coming online, I guess underground shopping in Raffles Place will continue to grow......

good move....and each subsequent developer will then be required to extend the underground link to the Sail, the BFC and so on....government saves $ and the developer contributes to the city infrastructure

I'm posting this message from ORQ South Tower. First time here...Whee!

ORQ is truly an impressive development. The two towers are actually linked via an extensive travellator system. You'll be surpised by the long distance between the 2 towers. The travellators run on the 3rd floor, through the atrium that links the two towers. The stretch is clad in clear glass, offering riders a view of the bay and the sail. Totally cool.

Also, the carpark is huge! It occupies a portion of South Tower's first 11 floors. This explains the massive metal cladded facade of South Tower's lower half (the part facing ECP) since the capark needs to be covered. It looks kindda high tech too, with led guiding lights at the ceiling and huge turbo exhausts...similar to the air circulation system in the CTE tunnel.

Deutsche Bank moves to One Raffles Quay

14 Feb 07

DEUTSCHE Bank, which has the largest trading operations in Singapore, has moved to One Raffles Quay, becoming the single-largest tenant there with 280,000 square feet of floor space.

The chairman of the German bank's management board, Josef Ackermann - in town to celebrate the bank's 35th anniversary in Singapore - said Deutsche has been an important part of the financial sector for much of Singapore's history.

'Singapore's vibrant, competitive and well-managed financial markets are a global success story and Deutsche Bank is proud to have played a role in their development,' he said. 'Our business has prospered in Singapore and the country is an important part of our future growth plans.'
