View Full Version : New Port Richey and surrounding areas
TampaMike October 18th, 2005, 05:13 AM They basicly need to get there act up.I love New Port Richey, but basicly I think the city is turning into a dump. It's not that bad,but there need to be more life in the city.We need more people saying "Oh loook New Port Richey has everything we are looking for",instead of"Only looks like New Port Richey has a Holiday in and that's all booked".We need more hotels/condos projcts here, not like 300-400 foot projects, but some that will make people go Wooooooow. And there needs to be more entertainment here. There is nothing. All we have is Gulfview Square Mall and a movie theatre.Come on guys, you can think of better stuff.
Some of you may be asking where this place is,and that is my point of this thread, not that many people know where New Port Richey is.It's a bueatiful area in some places, buy the whole area needs to clean up and make New Port Richey a haven of family life and well tourist life.
,Mike
Jasonhouse October 18th, 2005, 07:30 AM Welcome to Pasco county, where the lowest common denominator always wins.
SDK4 October 18th, 2005, 10:24 PM It will always be tough for New Port Richey to attract huge projects with Tampa to the south. But people may like it for its quiet, small town feel.
smiley October 18th, 2005, 10:56 PM Dude, It is a suburb. I may have been a town at one point, but look at US 19 (its ugliest point, in my opinion, is in NPR and environs) that is the center of town. To make it a cool bedroom community will require much. THought there is some little condos/store thingy on some waterfront around there. Maybe that will wake people up a bit - but more likely they will drive to Pinellas or Tampa
I-275westcoastfl October 18th, 2005, 11:01 PM Well the problem with new port richey is its only real draw is the fact you can still buy a decent house for 200k besides that its a regular suburb.
TampaMike October 18th, 2005, 11:23 PM I know it is a suburb, but New Port Richey is a dump. They only have 1 project I believe 5-6 stories maybe shorter on the river going through New Port Richey and that's it.But they need to get people saying"New Port Richey looked so beutiful, lets stay there for tonight".I want to see more lovely communities and some hotels and condos in the area or beach front.
Jahi98 October 19th, 2005, 01:43 AM New Port Richey, to me, is basically an older retirement/snowbird town. Even though it's a good distance from the major cities, it has qualities similar to an inner-ring suburb. It definately needs redevelopment. Currently, it seems the focus is on the new communities developing in central and east Pasco. Maybe once the US19 conversion is done (at least once it's fully converted from Pinellas Park through Clearwater). then developers will start to do major projects in coastal Pasco again, as most people would likely be commuting to Pinellas and Hillsborough to work. <shrugs> In the meantime, some road beautification could be done, maybe a sign ordinance implemented, and some rezonings done in prepartion for eventual redevelopment.
smiley October 19th, 2005, 02:55 AM Well, truth be told, if you thought Pinellas had government problems . . .

Yea traffic sucks everywhere on US 19.Can't wait til they get it all done.Poor New Port Richey. All forgotten behind Hillsborough and Pinellas. :((
SDK4 October 19th, 2005, 05:22 AM I think you just have to admit it, its not going to happen. Until The Pinellas/Tampa megacity suburbs really reachs New Port Richey and makes it a real suburb, there will be no development.
Jasonhouse October 19th, 2005, 06:12 AM US19 will never be done.
