Is kobi karp destined to become the next arquitectonica.
by that i mean is he going to be the next miami firm to go international.

as we all know arquitectonica started small with the pink house, they were considered unique they continued to grow and created there on miami style of architecture there so called brand of unconventional modernism. Arquitectonica has been very influential in miami since then, and then it was time to expand and they did when they created there iconic westin new york then they opened offices in New York, Los Angeles, Paris, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Manila, Lima, Buenos Aires and Sao Paulo,San fransico, and there are rumors of a las vegas office coming soon.

This pattern is very similar to what kobi karp is doing...kobi started small working on interiors and small commercial shops,he then moved on in small residential projects and now is hitting it big with projects such as Empire world towers and one las vegas, which are his biggest projects.

but still his firm is quite small, located on biscayne boulevard in a small office building, kobi employs only ten people but yet is designing more than 10 projects a month and also coordinating many projects that are underconstruction, projects from miami, las vegas, and even the caribbean.

kobi has now become the IT architect in miami,as he know is now working on more projects than the infamous arquitectonica so is he destined to become the next internationally known architect from miami?

It seems every new project is either a Kobi Karp project or a Dean B Lewis project, with the occasional Architectonica or Behar Font thrown in as well.

It could be worse. In Orlando, I'd bet that fully 75% of our new downtown highrises are being designed by a single firm - Baker Barrios (BBArch).

I`d really like to see a SOM, Pei cobb, Pelli, or Foster, design another revolutionary building for our downtown...SOM and Pei both made great contributions in the 80's...

Actually, Dean Lewis (who previously ran Architectonica Paris) has had this bad luck of creating wonderful designs for developers whom later sell the project to a second party. The second developers have mostly turned to Kobi Karp to design a less expensive to build design. I have been to both Dean and Kobi's offices and can attest that each have created wonderful building designs. Take a look here to see a list of the most active architects in Miami today:
