If you guy don't know what the Thai Canal is? find more information from here http://www.thai-canal.com/ Please go to look at here.. http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?p=5920885#post5920885 :) Ozone October 26th, 2005, 07:37 AM thailand is not a third world nation (although we sometimes witness third-world politics) I don't know what 3rd, 2nd and 1st world means any more. The terms mean nothing really. I think they were categories made up by the dominate economic countries. Within most countries there are industrialized (1-2) and non industrialized (3) peoples. “Mopeds, motorcycles are no longer legal in downtown areas of cities and all highways, superhighways.”??? NO way. That’s how I get around when I travel outside of BKK. I would hate to have a ban. Cars are a lot worse. They need to ban large cars and truck period -everywhere! BTS Extensions YES!!! PM still won't back BTS extension Prime Minster Thaksin Shinawatra continues to refuse to give the go-ahead for the Democrat party-dominated Bangkok Metropolitan Administration to finish the 2.2km BTS extension to Thon Buri although Bangkok councillors from his party have agreed to support the route. :gaah: More headlines: New Rapid Bus transit-ways. New river front walks and parks. Major clean up of canals. Even with new tree-lined walkways. New world landmark Bangkok Performing Arts Center right on the river to replace Somtow. Ban on all-white buildings for five years. New tall observation tower with outside elevators so everyone can look out over the City of Angel. Whose Homepage November 2nd, 2005, 08:30 AM What an interesting poll! Just reading the options, I went for - "A colossal new tower landmark announced" (provided, of course, that it's a truly fantastic design ;) ) and - "Work begins on Bangkok canals restorations." But then I read the thread and found that many of you feel that improvements in traffic and public transit are desirable. :okay: And thanks to the links given by Nongkhai_tong (to the canal site) and DD2020 (to the relevant thread here @SCity) I was able to figure out that this canal project is humongous! Btw, I don't think the bridge alternative is feasible--it would be tremendously expensive to unload/reload/unload-and-reload-again the cargo from ship to ship and have the goods shipped across the bridge. And I think Ozone's idea about "New river front walks and parks" is lovely! :) P.S. I didn't vote in the poll because I feel I don't have the right to do so. Mosaic November 3rd, 2005, 03:37 PM ^^^^^C'mon. you have the right to do vote here.^^^^ Whose Homepage November 4th, 2005, 08:42 PM You are very kind to a stranger, Mosaic! :) Jo November 10th, 2005, 10:52 AM Interesting suggestions :okay: Of the fixed choices I'd go for 'UN headquarters' or 'traffic volume'.. can't decide. Pas November 11th, 2005, 05:40 PM some ideas "Bangkok voted world's most livable city" :) "poverty in Thailand all eradicated" "Siam Pride Tribute Tower reached mile high - topping ceremony today" "Thailand through to World Cup final" "Paradorn's completed first grandslam" Realistically though I like the canal restoration idea.. Speed November 12th, 2005, 10:22 AM My dream newspaper headline: "All whistles have been taken away from all parking lot attendents and security guards" "Whistles are banned from Krungthep--all residents cheer!" :colgate: :colgate: :colgate: Jo November 12th, 2005, 10:46 AM Thank you!! I can't believe that argument hasn't come up before in our forum... or maybe it has, but I didn't notice. I think the mad whistleblowers should be outlawed and deported to antarctica where they can practice their insanity on penguins instead of our hard tested residents. ..or at least replace the whistles with the light sabers.
